Stephanie Seymour and Alber Elbaz Talk Soup

We all agree Stephanie Seymour has a perfect bod, and OK, I don't hate her, but did you know she can write too? She interviewed Lanvin's Alber Elbaz for Interview magazine - whom I happen to be intrigued by, he's so discrete yet so opinionated - and you can see what I mean by their chat over soup. I suggest you print this one out, there's lots of juicy bits . . .

For instance, have you ever noticed Lanvin's logo? In the spirit of Mother's Day, I'd like to point out it's a mother and daughter holding hands - original Lanvin designer Jeanne Lanvin and her daughter. When Elbaz took the helm at the house in 2001, he did not change the emblem. Elbaz explains, "I love and respect women. I work mostly with women. And you know, our logo for Lanvin is a mother and a daughter. I've always said, 'It's not a lion, and it's not a horse. It's a mother and a daughter.' I find the logo very emotional."

Another interesting fact: the entire Lanvin team eats lunch together every day. The interns are in charge of the food, and when they expressed annoyance for their seemingly mundane task, Elbaz replied: "I said to them, 'By going out and buying food for everyone, you'll get to know Paris, and you can practice your French.' I think when our relationship starts with food bringing people together, it gets deeper."

The last indicator Elbaz knows his stuff: he admits women are better drivers than men. "It's so important to have that intuition of women, that only women can give. Have you ever seen a man drive, Stephanie? They will never ask for directions, even if they're lost . . . women will ask 70 people in the first second - but they will get there sooner."

Model Muse: Stephanie Seymour

At one point, I hated Stephanie Seymour. Those of you who know me, and Stephanie, know why. It was the early '90s. She was dating Axl Rose. He was mine! Or, so my 12-year-old self thought. The lead singer of my all-time favorite band was possibly engaged to the hottest Victoria's Secret model of the time. I had serious competition. Meanwhile, I would flip through my mom's VS catalogs and hope I would grow up to have such a hard body, voluminous hair, and chiseled face. The greenish-blue eyes were out of the question, but to this day, if I ever need inspiration to get fit, I look to Stephanie Super. Known for her devilishly divine body, Stephanie also has a unique face; her long nose has an imperfect dent and her lips are perfectly plump. Now that I'm grown up and Stephanie is married with four kids (who are all gorgeous, btw) but still modeling, still hard body, I can admire her in two G'n'R videos - "Don't Cry" and "November Rain" - for what she really is: a bona fide hottie. The girl has experience and you can tell by her glamazon pose. I mean, check out those long fingers and the way they draw you in. Her dress is delicate yet her upper body is strong. Fab Blab: Stephanie Seymour and Fenton Talk Jewels

Isn't it grand when two fashion folks get together and pick each others' brains? One of my Super favorites, Stephanie Seymour, interviewed the designer of jewelry line Fenton for Interview magazine. Seeing as how statement jewelry - especially cool, mixed material jewelry - has dazzled its way into our lives this year, I'm sure you won't mind hearing all about what the designer, Dana Lorenz, has to say. Here are the highlights from Stephanie's Interview interview, jinx:

If Dana weren't a jewelry designer she would . . . "My friends and I always laugh that maybe we'll leave it all behind and go open a Holistic Dog Spa or make organic soaps in Vermont, but to be successful at it. Like Diane Keaton in Baby Boom."
Favorite celebrities to dress. "Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton are always surprising and refreshing to see."

The designer's favorite materials to use. "Solid brass is great because of its weight and wear and value. I'm trying to plate a lot less because of the impact on the environment so we are working with heat and natural ways to tarnish and oxidize metal. I found a great source for vintage lucite and crystals from Germany who keeps an eye out for me. If I like what she's pulled I buy the whole lot - using up surplus materials that already exist in the world. It's the only way I feel good about achieving a look that's 'excess' without being excessive."
Her realization she was a successful jewelry designer. "Being asked to design necklaces for Proenza Schouler, getting a call from Anna Wintour's office about sending up items for xmas gifts . . . being interviewed by you for Interview!"

Stephanie and Naomi, Hermes Cowgirls

Giddyup girls, the Hermes runway was smokin'. And it was wasn't just because of the wrapped and slit fringed skirts, sheer overlays, and cigars. Veteran models Naomi and Stephanie galloped through their dear friend Jean Paul Gaultier's Spring show, and looked every bit amazing. You can tell from the photos that Naomi was strutting her stuff, as always. And Stephanie looks like she's having a grand time. These Hermes cowgirls made it hard for me to focus on the clothes, which were wearable, sexy, and sophisticated. Great to see you back on your stomping grounds, supers.

It's a battle of the supermodels. Bring it! First, Stephanie Seymour attended the 2008 Costume Institute Gala in this revealing sheer black maxi dress, which she chose to accessorize with long earrings. To the horror (or excitement) of photographers, Stephanie's nipple pasties showed with each flash. Next, and more recently, Naomi Campbell went to a dinner in honor of Nelson Mandela in the same sexy dress. I beg to ask the question: Is this really an appropriate dress to wear when hanging out with the president of South Africa? But back to who wore it better. Fab Flash: Stephanie Seymour Is a Force to Be Reckoned With

Here's the thing: I used to hate former Victoria's Secret model Stephanie Seymour. You may recall, in the early '90s she dated Axl Rose - lead singer of my favorite band Guns 'n' Roses. But, I would see her in my mom's VS catalogs and think she was so beautiful with her blue eyes and straight-edged nose. It was a love/hate relationship, actually.

Fifteen years later, Stephanie is a mother of four, happily married to a media mogul, still modeling and in Fab's good graces. And, she's still gorgeous. We've been talking about the return of the Supermodels and Stephanie is up next.

At 40 years old, she recently joined the staff of Interview magazine and she's helping to revamp More magazine, starring in the latest GAP ad campaign, modeling on the cover of Pop magazine's Spring-Summer issue, and continuing to be the face of lingerie line Chantelle. It doesn't stop there. She was just tapped to be the only model in Saks' Fall preview book - all 63 pages of Stephanie. Here's to being 40 and fabulous!
