While it's quite a tricky trend, we think Fab reader Sorelle in Style rocked a fierce gorilla-sleeve look flawlessly. She paired the plush jacket with neutral layers, which in turn, created a super chic downtown-cool effect. Underneath she sported a half-tucked white blouse with high-waisted black jeans. Her pair of low-top Converse and Alexander Wang studded saddlebag kept the ensemble low-key and luxe. It's a classic look with edgy accents - a stylish balance we love seeing.

The Fashion Crowd Gets Glam For Elle's Style Awards

While New York Fashion Week has us fixated on the runways and the city's street-chic style set, across the pond in London, a different crew of fashion insiders and celebs were showing off their red-carpet looks at Elle's Style Awards. It was a chic gathering of attendees in a range of worthy style - we spotted the leggy Poppy Delevigne showing off one of Mary Katrantzou's Topshop designs, Alexa Chung styling up (maybe our favorite - ever) take on the menswear trend, and the gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley channeling ethereal glamour in Antonio Berardi. Fab reader Dadouchic rocked a black-and-white outfit that instantly reminded us of a perfectly chic interpretation of Karl Lagerfeld's monochromatic style. Her fitted faux leather pants provided a slick edge while her sweet white blouse, complete with Peter Pan collar, softened up the overall feel. She took care to spice up her silhouette with gilded embellishments (read: a super sparkly gold clutch and gold-accented white ankle-strap heels) and emerald statement earrings. It goes without saying that this sleek look would fit right into the Fashion Week mix - you may just find us sporting something similar at a show very soon.

Given our undying love for Giambattista Valli's pretty pink-and-red peplum-infused dress, it's no suprise that we instantly gravitated toward Fab reader Ashleigh1206's sweet colorblocked look. She tucked a pink silk blouse into a pair of red, well-tailored wide leg pants, adding a skinny leopard print belt for a chic, cinched finish. As far as accessories go, her armful of gold bangles, chunky gold chain necklace, and nude pumps kept the bright ensemble feminine and on-point.

We're constantly looking to reinvent the way in which we style our most beloved items of clothing - that is, without having to endure the consequences of a costly shopping spree. By combing through the arsenal of chic Fab community looks and tapping into our editors' fashion prowess, we've whipped up an easy way to soup up your wardrobe with just a quick trip to the back of your closet. Today, let's go bold and vibrant: mix-and-match cool color combos.

The best part about colorblocking is, hands down, its endless potential for fun, playful, and totally unexpected color matchups. This may be a good time to brush up on the ol' color wheel. Some of our favorite complementary pairings are: minty green with bright tangerine, deep violet with saffron yellow, and neon pink with crimson red.
Use these color combos to emphasize your shape and your strong knowledge of silhouette proportions. We love seeing contrasted hues against a long-short hem or in the mix of soft vs. hard structural edges.
To execute this look, it takes almost no effort at all. Find your favorite colorful pieces and pair 'em up. The effect is striking, but super simple to achieve. Whether it's a colorblocked sweater-and-jeans combo or a sweet juxtaposition of a bold dress over opaque tights, it's a zippy way to spice up a look.
