Isabel Marant Fall 2012

For her Fall 2012 collection, Isabel Marant mixed her signature bohemian-cool style with a splash of the Wild West. Specifically, it was the late 19th century cowgirls that inspired Marant: "I love the way they were wearing very masculine trousers to ride horses with lace shirts," said Marant. That said, the designer mixed feminine pieces with tougher elements by pairing a bevy of cowgirl shirts and sheer blouses with ruffled skirts and cropped pants. The latter featured a mix of fringed jeans and a standout pair of louche gray suede trousers with red trim. Short dresses ranged from laser-cut leather minis to a silk shirtdress rendition of the cowgirl top. Shoes are always a big seller for Marant, and we can already predict a long waiting list for her newest offerings: point-toe pumps with cutout details and embroidered leather cowboy boots. Carven Fall 2012

If you weren't already a fan of designer Guillaume Henry's clean lines and approach to It-girl style, Carven's Fall 2012 collection will prove a superchic match point. Drawing from a decidedly Medieval mood, the line boasted strong ecclesiastical references that included, but weren't limited to, cathedral-style laser cutouts, rich tapestry motifs, a stained-glass color palette, and scenery straight from the Middle Ages printed onto full A-line skirts. The jewel-toned blues, reds, and yellows fell onto tailored striped cropped pants and blazers, while evocative retro prints took shape in everything from blouses and shorts to pretty pinafores. As a bonus, we were treated to fur-lined collars, scallop-edged vests, and a totally new kind of buttoned-up shirt, which makes this youthful outpour quirkier by the minute. It's safe to say, we'll be seeing the style-setter crew (think Alexa Chung and Rachel Bilson) rocking Guillaume's Carven-cool all year long.

Trends: Ecclesiastical references, laser-cut suede, A-line skirts, tapestry-laden prints, and bright stripes.

Emilio Pucci Fall 2012

Peter Dundas showed off his signature sex appeal for Emilio Pucci's Fall 2012, crafting a decadent line in fur, sheer, and rich leather detail. It was a little like sensory overload at Pucci - that's not to say that it wasn't all done with perfect precision - there was just a lot to take in. When Dundas isn't honing his craft on ultrasexy evening wear - full-length, figure-flaunting gowns with sheer cutouts or embellished detail - he offers up brilliant prints on both slouchy suiting and drama-inducing frocks. Nearly everything gets the luxe treatment; if it's not a fur tossed nonchalantly over gowns and metallic suiting, then it's skirts and shifts finished in textured croc - and a leg-baring slit went with practically anything. Still, to sum it all up in red-carpet glamour would mean missing the menswear-inspired coats and tuxedo jacket paired with smart cropped trousers and finished in sharp white and black or soft powder blue. Dundas zeroes in on both the supersexy and the smarter stuff here - and with all things, he stuns.

Gucci Fall 2012

Frida Giannini featured a decadent array of dark hues and velvety textures for Gucci's Fall 2012 collection. Inspired by 19th-century romanticism, Giannini created lace-up blouses, sheer tulle Oscars-worthy gowns, and billowy capes. With a color palette that was mainly comprised of black and purple hues, Giannini played up the textural component via velvet, feather embellishments, and jacquard patterns. Meanwhile, moody floral maxi skirts and baggy trousers emoted a casually luxe vibe, further translated in the designers' wide array of coats and jackets, ranging from an oversized shearling rendition to an elegant velvet wrapped blazer.

Mary Katrantzou Fall 2012

Mary Katrantzou didn't shy away from her signature look; in fact, she turned up the dial on the bold prints she's become known for - the same ones she's crafted for her own Topshop collaboration. Her Fall '12 collection had no shortage of neoprene color, nor full-bodied patterns crafted in the most sculptural of silhouettes and body-conscious forms. Katrantzou revealed to The New York Times that her way with print is not without purpose: "With print, it is about educating the customer to try it on and see what it does with the silhouette . . . trying to do with print what a black dress would do onto their body. And it works!" If you see the line through her eyes you begin to understand her body-conscious strategy. It's not just about the whimsy of the print; every detail of design works together to highlight the shape of a woman. You see that in color choice, in silhouette, and in the widening or narrowing of her patterns - how it may open up in a cheeky timepiece at the waist, but taper in a tighter pattern at the hip; you can't discount even the smallest details when taking in the collection. But the whole is greater than the sum of its parts - Mary is a master of illusion with a talent for print-making that makes this collection not just playful, but oh so smart.

Temperley London Fall 2012

Temperley London's opulent Fall collection showed an array of beaded and silk gowns, gold lamé, and intricate embroidery. Inspired by the "sumptuous colors and decadent subjects of the religious paintings and tapestries" from the Renaissance, designer Alice Temperley created a decadent fairytale filled with grandeur and glamour. Adorned with luxe fur cossacks, models walked down the runway dressed in an array of long-sleeved floral and beaded gowns, some of which were Oscars-worthy contenders, in addition to shiny pant suits and full-skirted silhouettes. Standouts included an elegant black slitted gown with a draped back and the floral-patterned tops and dresses. Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2012

Tommy Hilfiger set the mood for his collection this evening at the Park Avenue Armory creating an Autumnal park paradise complete with wooden benches, pretty Fall trees, The Beatles playing in the backdrop, and even gravel to sink our booties into. As expected, the designer showcased his classic American style, but this time, interjected a completely modern spin to his mix via silk cable-knit printed dresses, luxe leather riding pants, and plenty of Glen plaid suits to go around. The classic pea coat was treated with a brilliant patent finish and trench coats received a smart colorblock detail on the sleeves. There were also plenty of quilted pieces, suede shirtdresses, A-line skirts, and tailored hunting jackets emoted a regal equestrian feel. Hilfiger exemplified the perfect mix of old and new - and we're loving every bit of it.
