Jessica Simpson has just signed a deal promising a bigger and better swimwear collection. With the help of bathing suit guru, Red Carter, the duo plan to unveil a zesty line of bikinis and cover-ups ranging from $35 to $120. Not bad. There's something for everyone with styles ranging from sexy animal prints to cute gingham patterns. Her last collection was a bit too all-American for my taste but this one looks more promising boasting modern cuts and designs. Jessica's new and improved collection will launch in December in major department and specialty stores. Are you interested?

Swimsuit season is upon us. Are you ready? I am. My fun hardcore workouts have paid off, and now is the perfect time to show it off. Swimsuits come in a wide range of cuts and styles, but my favorite is the bikini. I own a different one for each activity: a sturdy one for surfing, a skimpy number for lounging in the sand, and a basic one for doing laps in the pool. Fun fact: The bikini, invented by Louis Réard, was named after the Bikini Atoll in the Pacific, the site of the Operation Crossroads nuclear weapon test on July 1, 1946. The reasoning? Because, like a nuclear device, it would cause a burst of excitement! Are you ready for the swimwear challenge?

Phillip Lim Unleashes a Triple Threat

Amidst troubling economic times, Phillip Lim is staying positive about his business. While some designers are struggling to meet numbers, Phillip Lim's team is predicting a 15 percent increase of sales this year, giving credit to Lim's smartly priced, edgy designs. Next on tap for the budding designer? Adding three new lines to his brand: footwear, lingerie, and swim. Right now,” said Lim, “it’s not about sitting back and letting things happen. It’s about taking a step forward and pushing the envelope."

Lim’s swim collection, debuting this Summer, will consist of three styles - two maillots and a bikini made in floral prints retailing at $175. “We brought a girly, playful element to it,” said Lim. His lingerie line, named 3.1 Phillip Lim Initials, evokes the same femininity and will range from $65 to $175. The official launch of his lingerie line is Spring '10, but fans can nab them early at his boutique starting May 20. For shoes, Lim focused on creating practical designs. “Everyone’s making crazy shoes,” said Lim, “so we were like, ‘Let’s do working shoes, but sophisticated and beautiful.’"Lim's footwear collection, ranging from $290 to $675, will debut in the Fall.

Current/Elliott Ruffle Swimsuit: Love It or Hate It?

I always try to be one step ahead of the fashion game. That said, I've already begun my hunt for the perfect swimsuit. On my search, I came across this interesting Current/Elliot Ruffle Swimsuit ($231). The cotton and linen composition has me wondering if it's even waterproof, and the vintage cut is also questionable. Too frilly for my taste, what about you?

On Our Radar: Forever 21 Launches Super Cheap, Super Cute Swimwear

Thanks to Forever 21, we can now buy stylish swimwear on the cheap. The budget-friendly retailer just introduced a swimwear line filled with cool bikinis and sexy monokinis. There's so much to choose from but I think I've narrowed it down to this awesome Splatter Bikini ($26). It's neon and cheap; surf's up.
