Last night was the annual Met Gala honoring the museum’s latest exhibit, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. Models and celebrities attended in knockout dresses to honor the late designer’s extraordinary work. While gorgeous McQueen looks were in full force, from Gisele Bundchen’s stunning red number to Sarah Jessica Parker’s embellished champagne gown, many of our favorites - including Madonna and Gwyneth - turned out in Stella McCartney designs. The Costume Institute Gala, kicking off May 4, has everyone giddy with anticipation. Like prom, one of the most important decisions is choosing your dress and date. This year, the "Model as Muse" theme has inspired many designers to choose models as their dates, while others are sticking to their usual beau and celeb buddies. Word has it Marc Jacobs will dress fellow cohost Kate Moss in his own design, while Madonna and Kerry Washington are set to don Louis Vuitton. "How did you hear that?" said Washington. "I am so excited about my ensemble. I know what I'm wearing, but I'm not telling."

Francisco Costa is rumored to be dressing Halle Berry.
Lily Donaldson will attend with Narciso Rodriguez.
Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson will appear as guests of Karl Lagerfeld.

Which Face Is Most Fab on Vogue's Model-Infused May Cover?

We've been celebrating models all month long in anticipation of the Met's Costume Institute Gala model-themed extravaganza next month. Vogue is right there with us. Their May issue is dedicated to the gorgeous faces that mold the industry and one special photographer who helped made lots of them happen - Steven Meisel. He shot this gatefold cover with some of today's bright young things. I'm not going to reveal who my favorite is - OK, it's between Liya, Lara, and Natasha - but which face leaves you wanting more?

Fab Flash: Katie Holmes and More Costume Institute Gala Attendees Revealed!

We already learned that Fergie and Liv Tyler are attending as guests of Calvin Klein, and Tilda Swinton is accompanying Prada, but as the Costume Institute gala fast approaches on May 5, more details have leaked.

Giorgio Armani is said to be dressing Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Tom Cruise, and Katie Holmes, but it doesn't stop there. Rumor has it that Jennifer Lopez is coming with Alberta Ferretti, Kate Bosworth with Chanel, and Eva Mendes and Rachel Bilson are also attending with Calvin Klein.

They haven't been connected to specific designers yet, but other expected attendees include Renée Zellweger, Scarlett Johansson, Kate Moss, Mary J. Blige, Claire Danes, Mischa Barton, LeBron James, as well as designers Valentino, Tom Ford, Domenico Dolce, Stefano Gabbana, and Donatella Versace.

Fab Flash: Prada, Calvin Klein Reveal Celebrity Guests to Costume Institute Gala

As the biggest singular fashion event of the year approaches - The Met's Costume Institute Gala on May 5 - designers have already started to announce which celebrities they are bringing as guests.

Francisco Costa of Calvin Klein revealed that he is dressing Fergie and Liv Tyler - no surprise there, since he's brought Liv to the event the past couple of years. He hinted that Fergie and Liv weren't his only two guests, but wouldn't name any more names.

Meanwhile, Miuccia Prada has invited recent Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton and actress Elizabeth Banks to accompany her.

Remember, this year the Gala's theme is superheroes, so it will be interesting to see how much the attendees play into that. I can't wait!

Fab Flash: Superheroes at the 2008 Costume Institute Exhibit

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has chosen "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy" as the theme of its Spring exhibit. The museum plans to explore the superhero's iconic costume of cape, mask, and bodysuit as it has appeared in fashion. The exhibit, which is co-chaired by Giorgio Armani, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour, will run from May 7 to September 1, and the accompanying gala, known as the Oscars of the fashion industry, will be hosted on May 5.

Approximately 70 ensembles will be featured, from high-performance sportswear and iconic movie costumes to avant-garde couture looks spanning the decades, all inspired by Catwoman, Wonder Woman, the X-Men, and more. Designers represented include everyone from Balenciaga, Armani, and Alexander McQueen to Jeremy Scott, Pierre Cardin, and Nike.

We saved one of the best for last - the belle of the ball so to speak. Now, this event is one of the most important of the year for the fashion cognoscenti - as you can see from all of our polls! Leave it to Anna to wear one of the most dramatic pieces of the evening. While it looks a bit like fashion armor, if I were Anna this would be my choice too. The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Kate Moss

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in Kate's choice for the gala. I think she may be wearing a creation from her Topshop collection, which would be cool but this dress just falls flat. Plus, she looks a bit tired - maybe too much Topshop action for this model star? Those art deco diamond earrings are killer though. What do you think?
