When our evening style sensibilities crave something a little more snappy, we look to the tuxedo. Tuxedo looks dominated the Fall runways at Jason Wu, Tibi, Dolce & Gabbana, and Moschino, then on sharply dressed celebs like Olivia Palermo and Evan Rachel Wood. Not that the tux is new on the scene; we owe it to greats like Marlene Dietrich for making the menswear evening staple a glamorously cool option for us girls. With holiday season approaching, and with it, a bevy of parties, we totally plan on utilizing the look via slim black trousers, tailored suit jackets (leather lapels optional), and blouses with crisp contrast piping. If we're feeling particularly snazzy we'll finish the look with a playful bow tie and a classic pair of heels to counter all the boyish charm.

Celeb Style: Olivia Palermo Mixes Prints and Dons Killer Shoes

Olivia took bohemian elements and turned them into a super-sophisticated outfit for a store opening in Italy yesterday, and we're swooning over the outfit. She took her Tibi-printed top, which she last wore with matching Tibi pants and tucked it into a sheer printed skirt, layered it with a black furry vest, and finished with delicately strapped suede and leather heels.
Olivia added a pop of color via a berry-hued quilted clutch.

Trendspotting: Moody Dark Lace

While white lace makes us feel girlie and romantic, in a darker palette, the feel is something else entirely. Moody blue and black lace are more vampy than girlie, as Olivia Palermo, Chloë Moretz, and Lea Michele prove in their lace confections. Olivia channels an almost gothic-inspired style, thanks to a long, sheer skirt to complement a black lace top, while Chloë's ladylike Dolce & Gabbana frock feels a touch edgier with black lace applique. As for Lea, the look is straight-up sexy, with a higher hemline and sultry, curve-hugging navy lace on her Asos dress. There's something sexier and a little subversive about lace hues that go against the ladylike creams and white - besides, the deeper tones happen to look fantastic for Fall.

Tibi's Amy Smilovic left the crowd swooning yesterday for her Spring '12 collection, styled by fashion blogger Elin Kling, and we're sure you could see why. The designer nailed the wide-leg palazzo trend right on the mark with her standout renditions, ranging from soft pastels to our favorite look - a black and green graphic print creation paired with a soft leather top. Another conceptual number came from the remixed shirt dress, featuring a sleek panel of black leather in the front and completed with a silk, cobalt blue back and sleeves. For daywear, Smilovic provided a crisp touch via coral and chambray suit sets - featuring the cutest pair of tailored track shorts - accompanied by soft silk tops.
