Makeup at the Oscars was a little more traditional in 2012, but that didn't stop Hollywood's finest from keeping up with the trends. Winged eyeliner is practically everywhere these days, and it took the red carpet by storm for the year's most-anticipated red-carpet event. Every other starlet seemed to be sporting her own version of the look, and the shapes ranged from Jennifer Lopez's chic double-winged style to Zoe Saldana's stretched-out cat-eye and Petra Nemcova's blackout lids. Looks like we're in for another awards season sprinkled with pretty retro looks. At the Grammys this time around, tons of beautiful women showed up with vintage-style winged eyeliner. It was on everyone: Adele had perfect late '60s wings, Katy Perry wore her pinup girl look, and Nicki Minaj took things to extremes. Even Lady Gaga was wearing winged eyeliner underneath her mask. Winged eyeliner is so flattering that its ubiquity is no surprise on the red carpet. Why wouldn't you wear something that spells instant sex appeal? Now if the rest of us could only get makeup artists to come along and help us with the liquid liner, we could all be wearing it, too.

SAG Awards Trend Alert: Headband Braids

Headband braids are always popular, but they dominated the hairstyles at the 2012 SAG Awards. Glee star Dianna Agron chose a messy fishtail version of the look that only came three-quarters of the way across her forehead, making for the most fashion-forward braid of the evening. The award for most romantic take on the braid goes to The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco, who wore a thick plait accentuated by lots of free tendrils that gave the style an old-fashioned feel. And the most subtle headband braid at the SAGs was probably Extra host Renee Bargh's minibraid, which actually did look more like a headband than any of the others. It's all just further proof that complex braids are here to stay.

People's Choice Awards Trend Alert: Pretty as a Peach

Orange is the color of 2012, and the starlets at the People's Choice Awards certainly seemed cognizant of it. Peach was everywhere - on lips nails, cheeks, and quite a few dresses, too.
