Raise your hand if you want to elongate your neck. Turtlenecks, like this Michael Stars Stripe Turtleneck ($48), are the way to make a short neck appear longer. But feel me on this: many turtlenecks are designed such that when you fold the neck out, it doesn't cover your entire neck — see left.

Like artwork, jewelry needs a nice backdrop. To make a sizzling statement, look to Natasha Bedingfield for inspiration and top your turtleneck. Layering a bold necklace over a nondescript turtleneck gives you high impact without breaking the bank.

Is there really any sweater more comforting than a cozy turtleneck? I find that I buy at least one new turtleneck every year, but you can wear this classic style season after season, because a turtleneck is always in style. With styles ranging from billowy knits to mini dresses, it's just a matter of finding the style you prefer.

I normally commend Emmy Rossum's red carpet choices; she always manages to be feminine and unique. She took a slight risk wearing this sliced, sheer Ferragamo dress at GQ's Gentlemen's Ball in NYC last night. I'm all about mesh inserts right now, but something is off — I think a higher hemline would have balanced the turtleneck and long sleeves.

There she is. We had mixed feelings about Olga in her red turtleneck Valentino dress, but I'm sure her cool chevron beaded LBD is a winner. I mean, stunning.

Ukranian beauty Olga Kurylenko has been MIA for a while, but she's back, and bolder than ever. At the 2010 Campari Calendar cocktail party in Milan, the actress showed up in a can't-miss-it red Valentino couture gown that perfectly matched the red carpet. Up top she's fully covered in a turtleneck and long sleeves, but she's showing a bit of leg and thigh in a high slit.
