Celebrity Style: Kristin Cavallari

I just realized something: we don't feature enough red on Fab. It's actually one of my favorite colors - bold, fiery, festive. The Hills star Kristin Cavallari knows this, too. The cheery blonde stood out at the annual A Time For Heroes Celebrity Carnival in LA. See, she also knows peasant tops are back. While she continues to battle out her style with former Hills heroine LC, KC dressed down the Sunahara top with navy shorts and upped it with tan Twelfth Street wedges and gold bangles. Viva red!

Trend Alert: Block Party

The band rocks, and so do these accessories. The block party has been going strong for about a year now - something about warm weather and color blocking really clicks. I enjoy colorblocking an outfit with individual pieces, creating my own creative color combo. The trend has trickled into shoes, bags and jewelry, so keep partying . . .

Trend Alert: Citrus Sinensis

Get ready to get revitalized with a taste of citrus sinensis. So it's January, even more reason to take a bite out of orange, tangerine, sherbert or blood orange. To pair with brown or black is the question. Yes and yes is the answer. I wouldn't go metallic (maybe bronze?), so keep your brown and blacks minimal and chic. Preferably, I like some citrus sinensis with some skin - case in point Aisha Tyler in Kenneth Cole at the Cloverfield premiere.

Trend Alert: Pink Ladies

Well color me pink! Starlets have been favoring visions in magenta (or magneta a friend of mine once called it), fuchsia and hot pink hues. Now I'm not much of a pink lady but these sure do look fun. Who knew pink was so versatile? Chloe's slouchy Luella frock is pure fun, Eva's flowy gown is totally glam and Christina's long dress is modern and fresh. Ok, my mind might be changing...is pink the new black?

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2008: Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent

You may or may not know that many of the shows I saw at New York Fashion Week were not at the famed Bryant Park tents. A lot of designers showed off site, for a number of reasons; budget restrictions, an anti-sponsor preference or simply to present a no frills collection of clothes. We feature Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent often, so I was jazzed to see her Spring offerings...especially since the showroom setting was casual, filled with light and easy going.

With the feather weight clothes hanging on mannequins, Vincent also provided a viewing of her coveted shoes and accessories and an immense inspiration wall. The inspiration wall was really cool; images from Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides, a young Patrick Dempsey, youthful beachy photo shoots via NYLON, all made sense of the clothes. And the clothes were in punchy colors of 70s suburbia with feminine details like jeweled necklines, crochet and ruffles. Sporty aspects like racer backs, hoods and tanks toughened things up. All in super soft fabrics like chiffon, silk, voile and jersey, I bet if models were wearing these pieces they would seriously flow. I guess we'll just have to wait for some of these to appear in Celebrity Styles to really know!

As for the accessories, buttery leather clutches were adorned with fun star-shaped beads. Colorful leather was preferred as was patent leather, on shoes that were colorblocked, banded and woven. Looks like Cynthia had fun with this collection!

Twelfth Street Silk Shortalls: Love It or Hate It?

It's amazing how much color can make or break an outfit. Case in point, these Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Silk Shortalls, $150. In the apricot color, they are hideous. But in black, it is rather wearable and chic. I would sport this at night with peep-toe leopard pumps and some sassy gold bangles. Do you all love it or hate it?

Have I ever mentioned I loathe the color putty? While this color looks horrible on me - totally drowns me out - I think it is one of the ugliest shades of brown out there. That being said, I think this Twelfth Street Lotus Tie Waist Tunic, $282, is a cute style but the color spoils it for me. What do you all think? Love or hate?

Who Wore It Better? Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Floral Dress

I featured this dress a while ago and am still a fan. The Asian-inspired floral pattern is not too in your face, and the brown belt perfectly neutralizes the silky dress. I'm not the only fan of this Cynthia Vincent frock. Maggie Grace wore it back in August at the Los Angeles premiere of Superbad, and Autumn Reeser recently wore it to the 14th Annual Lint Roller Party in LA. While the dress suits both actresses' youthfulness, I'm leaning towards Maggie's pointed-toe pumps and simple clutch - it's a bit sassier. Who gets your vote?
