My new go-to cocktail is a Dark and Stormy. Imagine yourself in a dim dive, drinking one of those bad boys, in a stormy print. Tough stuff. Kristen Bell upped her stormy stuff by wearing this marble-print Vena Cava layered over a printed tank and studded Louboutins. And yet, she doesn't appear, too, intimidating. She softened things up with her killer smile and golden locks. Whether a thunderstorm or lightening strike, stormy prints are electric.

After witnessing their Spring collection, my obsession with Vena Cava grows. Let's immerse ourselves into their Fall look book shall we? This collection of modern feminine pieces is composed of structured leather jackets, soft silk frocks, printed tops with hard edge embellishments, and streamlined skirts. Their feminine touches are just right, not overly so - exactly how I like it. It's still warm here in SF, but once the clouds roll in, I'll be living in this understated leather dress. So cool. 2010 Spring New York Trend Alert: Naranja

Though I don't have a lot of it in my closet (do any of us?), I quite enjoy naranja, aka orange. It's optimistic, energizing, youthful - it is FitSugar's color, after all. Amongst all the white, neutrals, and grays of Spring, orange stood out to me at once. Red is Fall's favorite fiery hue, so it's no surprise its tangy sister has stepped in for Spring. Diane von Furstenberg didn't hold back - Chanel Iman is double layered in orange goodness. In need of a new outlook on life? Nibble on some naranja.

2010 Spring New York Fashion Week: Vena Cava

Vena Cava always does things a little differently. Both in show presentation and clothing inspiration; that's why they are a growing fashion force. Vena Cava was at Milk Studios - where numerous designers are showing this time around - and I arrived promptly on time because I heard rumblings the designers were doing a runway show in lieu of their usual presentation style. They did both. It started as a runway show, models perched themselves around and on ladders, then it turned into a presentation - the best of both worlds. The Fiery Furnaces performing live were an awesome accompaniment to the modern, exotic collection. From marbelized prints, to laser cuts, to hints of skin, Vena Cava loves to play. But in a very sophisticated manner. A dress may be baby doll, but it's far from goo-goo-gaa-gaa in a sexy black-rayon jersey and metal safety-pin camisole. The palette was moody - black, brown, grays - but a punchy orange saved it from somber. The orange cupra jersey asymmetrical dress made my heart skip. Lisa and Sophie, the hotshot design duo, continue to experiment with separates. Dresses are always unique, but skirts, jumpsuits, shorts, busters, leggings, and tees were thrown into the mix. Accessories weren't forgotten; stylist Kate Young completed looks with Persol shades, Robert Clergerie shoes, and Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co. jewels. Vena Cava - where there's smoke, there's fire.

A recent visit to the Otte boutique in NYC - yes, I bought some goodies - lured me to check out its online site. Right now, the sale section is bursting at the seams with designer items from the likes of Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, and See by Chloe marked up to 70 percent off. Vena Cava hardly goes on sale so I better jump on this Slime Tank ($177, originally $295). Definitely not cheap but I can't resist the cool serious print.

Considering Nicky Hilton consistently wore Matthew Williamson for H&M before it came out, I'm not surprised that she's the first celebrity to jump on the Gap CFDA Design Editions line. Girl knows her fashion. She recently went out in LA wearing Vena Cava's Khaki Zip Dress ($88). And guess what? I also have it! If you're not already, start sporting and supporting the stylish collection. It's khaki at its hottest.

Celebrity Style: Kim Kardashian

Last night, Kim Kardashian and boyfriend Reggie Bush had a date at the Staples Center, where the LA Lakers hit the court. Far from sporty, Kim looked modern chic in a gorgeous Vena Cava silk tank (on sale!) and an off-white leather jacket. Sticking with the neutral theme, she accessorized with a gray patent quilted bag and gray Christian Louboutin boots. Lastly, her dark-blue skinny jeans provide variety from all the soft hues. Works for me.

Fab Ad: Gap Design Editions, Summer '09

I was on the fence when I first peeped Gap's latest Design Editions team-up, but seeing its ad campaign has changed my outlook. Shot by Craig McDean, the shots feature models Raquel Zimmerman, Anna Jagodzinska, Arlenis Sosa, and Coco Rocha wearing khaki collaborations from Alexander Wang, Vena Cava's Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai, and Albertus Swanepoel. I love the fun, no-fuss fashion angle and the clothes - which retail between $40 - $88 - look cute and wearable.

The plain background allows the cool khaki creations and models' bright faces to take the forefront. Also, notice how each designer is posing alongside his/her designs. That way, we know who designed each item. Effective yet simple. What do you think?

Gap just got cooler with its latest guest designers: Alexander Wang and Vena Cava. For their Gap Design Editions collection, Wang and Cava reworked the brand's iconic khaki fabrics and created sharp Aztec print dresses, slick motorcycle jackets, trench coats, shorts, and a ton of toppers.
