Barbie's on a roll! After showing a rad collection at New York Fashion Week earlier this year, the icon will make her next debut as the star in Vogue Italia's upcoming Black Issue.
"Barbie has been an icon for whole generations, which is why I really wanted to give a strong sign in step with the times, and dedicate the anniversary issue to Black Barbie," said Franca Sozzani, editor in chief of Vogue Italia.

Put together sensual Sasha Pivovarova and Morocco and you have pure ecstasy. For Vogue Italia's May issue, Steven Meisel snapped Sasha looking like a Moroccan marvel in traditional yet stylish garb from the North African country — all, of course, with a fashion flair. Baggy harem pants ruled, as did vibrant pops of orange, raspberry, and red.

Selita Ebanks doesn't mind posing for the camera. Sporting her cropped do, the model looked fresh and fantastic in NYC during a visit to The Tyra Banks Show to celebrate the first all-black model issue of Vogue Italia. It looks like walking down the runway has perfected her art of styling.

Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, Liya Kebede, Jourdan Dunn, Chanel Iman (left), and Sessilee Lopez are all a part of this groundbreaking movement, each bringing to the table their own unique presence.

A while back, we announced something groundbreaking: the July issue of Vogue Italia would feature all black models. While I don't think it should be a big to-do, because this should be happening anyway, unfortunately it is and it's not happening. This rides on the heels of the runways being so white washed as of late.

While the majority of fashion magazines continue to use predominantly white models, Vogue Italia is setting itself apart. The July issue of the quarterly publication will feature almost all black models photographed by Steven Meisel. While of-the-moment model Jourdan Dunn (left) will be featured inside, it remains to be seen who the title of cover girl will go to.

Fashion photographer Stephen Meisel—known for his controversial but brilliant work for Vogue and Calvin Klein—has created an artful and arresting War on Terror-themed fashion spread for the September 2006 issue of Vogue Italia. Given the timing, the pics are likely to generate a lot of buzz. But the photography—showing models in various stages of undress facing riot squads and airport security lines—is truly remarkable.

Strike while the iron's hot. That's exactly what model veteran Bethann Hardison has done in "Race on the Runway", a discussion of the ongoing epidemic of a seemingly all-white runway. Though New York Fashion Week showed a great improvement of diversity from designers, the issue still remains a huge concern in the industry.
