W Hotels Get Into Fashion

W Hotel is no longer just your go-to place for lodging. It's now also going to be your go-to spot for fashion. The hospitality chain just announced it's launching a fashion line made up of apparel and accessories. Designers such as Alex and Ani, Foley + Corina, Lauren Merkin, VIX, and Wink have been tapped as designers. "W is a design-led brand, therefore fashion is a tool to engage our guests in design. The people we're after are trendsetters and fashion-forward. We have a passion for fashion," said Eva Ziegler, global brand leader of W. The line, dubbed Global Glam, will be introduced on Sept. 10 at Fashion's Night Out.

If you need a 2009 calendar, let me suggest the most fashionable out there: the W Hotels/CFDA 2009 Calendar ($15). What makes this more special than others? For one, it's designed to look like a sketchbook, includes blank sketch pages, and has room to hold a pencil.

Coolest part, 12 designers, - Diane von Furstenberg, the Rag & Bone boys, Victoria Bartlett - were asked to contribute an exclusive image that has inspired their creative process. Plus, 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the CFDA Foundation. I can't think of one reason not to buy this calendar.

Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron Bring Double the Glamour to W Magazine

Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron grace the cover of two separate W covers this February. Brad got casual in an undone black tie look while Charlize went glamorous in a brightly colored gown and jewels. Both Brad and Charlize are being recognized for their roles in Moneyball and Young Adult, respectively, this award season and have best actor and actress nominations at Sunday's Golden Globe Awards - make sure to fill out your Golden Globes ballot before the big show. In the publication's Best Performances Issue, Brad talks about his experience watching movies while Charlize shares a funny quirk she brought to her big-screen character, Mavis. Here's more from Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron in W:

Brad on crying at films: "I’m not much of a crier at films, but there was one . . . I was coming back from Cabo on my way to Montreal, and I got hit with Montezuma’s revenge. I could not keep anything down. I was stuck in a hotel room with no windows and was just doing what you do when you’re sick. On day two of this extremely painful episode, I watched a film called Life as a House. I don’t know if it would still hit me the same way, but on my 27th hour of pure wretchedness, this movie just crushed me."
Charlize on Mavis wearing bra inserts: "I wear those! If you don’t have boobs, you wear those cutlets. It’s just the most bizarre, unsexy thing there is - so I added that to Mavis."
Brad on whether it's difficult to watch himself die in a movie: "God, no. I’m just checking the boxes. Hit that. Missed that. Hit that moment. Missed that one. God, I’d like to do that one again."

Kate Moss Returns From Jamaica For a Late-Night, Dazed Bash

Kate Moss rocked a pair of circular sunglasses yesterday when she stopped to check in on the progress of construction at her new London home. She left her sunnies at home last night, though, when she put on an LBD, threw her arm around pal Nick Grimshaw, and attended a bash celebrating the 20th anniversary of Dazed and Confused. Kate stopped at Somerset House to wish the magazine's founder Jefferson Hack, who's also her daughter Lila's father, congratulations. Jefferson has been chatting up the milestone as well as his new book Making It Up As We Go Along, and in an interview shared about first meeting Kate in 1999. Jefferson first saw Kate at a photo shoot, and he said, "I was taken aback by how chatty and uninhibited she was - that unguarded thing was really captivating."

Kate, her DJ host pal Nick Grimshaw, and BFF Sadie Frost then moved on to the W Hotel's Wylde Bar - and Kate even brought her own glass of wine from the car inside the event space! It was a late one for Kate, who was seen heading back to her place around 3 a.m. The supermodel is in England again, following a recent stay in Jamaica. Kate took a girls-only getaway to the Caribbean island with Lila and Sadie. Miss Moss is rumored to be interested in purchasing a vacation pad in Jamaica but chose to spend her getaway at the lux Goldeneye resort, which was the former home of James Bond author Ian Fleming. Kate's trip was referred to in the UK press as one designed to get over her "marriage shock" from tying the knot with Jamie on July 1.

Jennifer Garner Balances Ballet Class, Benefits, and a Big, New, Small-Screen Project

A pregnant Jennifer Garner carried her little ballerina Violet Affleck to dance class in Santa Monica yesterday before going glam to play host at the annual Pink Party in Hollywood that evening. The red-carpet event raised funds for the Cedars-Sinai Women's Cancer Program, and Jennifer has been a champion of the cause for several years. The actress, who is expecting her third child with Ben Affleck, dressed her baby bump in a red, draped number for the soiree, held at Drai's at the W Hotel. The night out marked Jennifer's first public appearance since she announced the happy news. Just a few days before revealing that the new addition to the Garner-Affleck household was on the way, she was in Anaheim to attend the Disney convention D23 and talk about her upcoming film The Odd Life of Timothy Green, which costars Warrior's breakout star Joel Edgerton. Jennifer will be taking her talents to a small-screen project again soon - it was just announced that her production company is developing a sitcom based on the book The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth for ABC.
