Whitney Port Works Wine Country, Shares Her Sensible Style Tips For Fall

Whitney Port has been on our style radar for quite some time now - we love her effortless appeal and inventive mix-and-match skills - and even though the star of The Hills and The City is "relieved to not have to dress [up] for the cameras anymore," it doesn't mean she's slowing down. Whitney has been hard at work designing the Spring '12 collection for her line Whitney Eve and recently teamed up with Chandon and the National Breast Cancer Foundation for a night of fashion, sparkling wine, and charity on a gorgeous evening in Napa. We headed to Domaine Chandon to check out the Whitney Eve presentation and talk to the style star about her work with the NBCF, her design inspiration, and her plans for Fall dressing.

FabSugar: What inspired you to get involved with the National Breast Cancer Foundation?
Whitney Port: I have family members that have been affected by the disease, and I really want to stress the importance of early detection. It's so crucial to go out and get tested, because the earlier they find something, the better chances you have of survival.

FS: You've lived in NYC and Los Angeles - how do you differentiate East Coast vs. West Coast dressing?
WP: When I lived in New York, I was inspired to dress up a lot more, and look more sophisticated. But when I'm in LA, I prefer to keep things casual - most days when I go to the office I'm in cutoffs, a t-shirt, and Converse sneakers. I'm so relieved to not have to dress up for the camera anymore. It's fun to go out and do events and get dolled up, but most of the time I'm just at a bar with friends, totally dressed down.

Sneak Peek: Whitney Eve With Piperlime

Whitney Port has been a busy gal, first debuting her Spring 2011 collection for her clothing line, Whitney Eve, and now a capsule collection for e-retailer, Piperlime.com. Port will reveal the 14-piece line-which includes dresses, tops, jackets and sweaters-tonight at Piperlime’s pop-up store in N.Y.C.’s Soho, but we’ve got a sneak peek at some of the sketches! Inspired by a “ballerina-meets-urbanista,” the sketches of draped dresses and cozy sweaters (perfect for warming up at the ballet bar) are right on cue.
Whitney Eve with Piperlime will be available exclusively online and at the pop-up store starting tomorrow.

The latest episode of The City left me curious about Whitney Port's Fall line. So of course, I had to check out the complete collection. Staying true to her eclectic ways, Whitney created crinkled velvet trenches, lamé-printed dresses, and iridescent animal-print skirts. For the vintage gal, the celeb designer also delivered ivory lace leggings and dresses. Textured, daring, interesting. What are your thoughts?

Whitney Port Gets Served

Good girl Whitney Port was delivered bad news today when word spread about a lawsuit filed by designer Adrienne Baravetto claiming she designed the majority of the Whitney Eve collection - originally called Eve & A - and not Port. The lawsuit also claims Baravetto had an oral agreement with Port and her father promising an $80,000 yearly salary plus an additional 25 percent stake in the company.

However, Whitney's lawyer, Michael Taitelman, tells sources, “The lawsuit that Adrienne Baravetto filed on March 19, 2010 against Whitney Eve, Inc., Whitney Port and others regarding the Whitney Eve clothing line is baseless and without merit. Whitney Port is, and always has been, the designer of Whitney Eve.” Let the drama begin . . .

Whitney Port hit the New York Fashion Week circuit looking her usual stylish self at Gen Art's "The New Garde" fashion presentation. Always one to rock funky fashion, The City girl donned a pair of wild, leopard-print leggings. On top, she wore a black sequined top and dusty gray silk boyfriend blazer. A satin bow headband, charm necklace, red clutch, and platform pumps add extra pizazz to the reality-star-turned-designer's ensemble.

We've been longtime supporters of Whitney Port's Whitney Eve clothing line. It may have started off on an unsure note, but it's always a good sign when you are able to show at the tents at New York Fashion Week.

Whitney's collection fused girlie and romantic and, to my relief, wasn't too '80s. There were definitely a couple flirty dresses and jackets I would rock, but Whitney needs to move past the pastels. While Olivia Palermo told me she thought the collection was "youthful" after the show, last night, at Divas Live, Whitney explained: "My inspiration was Alice in Wonderland goes to a cocktail party. I wanted something really fun, wearable, but that you could easily go from day to night in. Something you wear to the office and then can dress up with heels to go out. Bright colors."Looks like it's onward and upward for Whitney Eve.

Once, we brought you The City star Whitney Port's Whitney Eve Spring creations. Now, are you ready to see her Fall designs? Naturally, this bunch is less colorful, more severe, with pieces including LBDs, long blazers, satin jackets, and mini skirts. You'll find no sweat pants here. There are bouts of fuchsia and some prints like stripes. Being that Whitney is a girlie girl at heart, bows, sweetheart necklines, and lace are also in the mix. Compared to Spring, this Whitney Eve girl is more vampy, serious, and loves to dress up. Are you that girl?
