Maloles Doctor Bag: Love It or Hate It?

Double The Look For Less: L.A.M.B. Bronze Woven Gala Sandals

I knew I had to have these L.A.M.B. Bronze Gala Woven Sandals ($325) as soon as I laid eyes on them. They're perfectly woven, and the crisscross detail is the cherry on top. Too bad they're too pricey to ever make it out of my wish list and onto my feet.

Though they're not exactly the same, these Mikala Siena Woven Sandals ($88 ) still exude the same style. They are woven and have a bit of pearlized sheen to lend an air of sexiness.

Fabworthy: Sigerson Morrison Weave T-Strap Sandal

Nicolas Ghesquière's Spring '08 collection for Balenciaga wasn't all too wearable but it was all together stunning. One of the trends that blossomed from that show were the multicolored weave footwear. Nicole Richie already got her feet on the boots, so let's also get in on the hot trend with these Spring/Summer-ready Sigerson Morrison T-Strap Woven Sandals ($425). They have the same black-and-white woven motif but they're much more comfortable. Oh, and considerably less pricey . . . $978 less to be exact!

Trend Alert: The Weave

I have always been drawn to the weave. I think it's my lifelong adoration for Bottega Veneta (see amazing Spring wedge at left) and its luxurious woven leathers. Because Bottega has been around for so long, many copy cats have chimed in on the earthy motif. On shoes, this style is ideal - it's interesting, cool and slightly '70s - right up my alley.

Bottega Veneta is known for its intricately woven bags. Too bad it's also known for its steep prices, which go for $1000 and up. Even though this Bottega Veneta Metallic Knotted Clutch is on sale ($5,159, originally $7,700), it's still crazy expensive. It's beautiful, elegant, and will surpass time and trends. Now only if there were a cheaper but still well-made option. Wait, there is!

read more I have to admit: this Nordstrom Woven Silk Clutch ($88) was on my holiday wish list, but I loved it so much, I couldn't wait to have it...so I bought the black one last weekend. The weaving reminds me so much of Bottega. I especially adore the rhinestone clasp because it screams old Hollywood glamor. If you need a classy evening clutch, consider this one.

Sundance Snapshot: Your Sister's Sister Puts the Fun in Family Dysfunction

Director Lynn Shelton made her Sundance premiere with Humpday, and she returned to the festival this year with Your Sister's Sister. The film has a tiny cast - in fact, most of the scenes are between just three actors - but this little indie is one of the most memorable films I caught at the festival. Here's why:

Who's behind it? Emily Blunt, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Mark Duplass make up the cast. Lynn Shelton (who also directed Duplass in Humpday) is behind the camera.
What's it about? Duplass plays Jack, a guy who's on a bit of a downward spiral a year after losing his brother. Jack's still close friends with his brother's ex, Iris (Blunt), who suggests that Jack spend some time in solitude at her father's rustic lakeside cabin. When Jack arrives at the cabin, he's surprised to find Iris's sister, Hannah (DeWitt), and when Iris pops up for a visit, a very tangled web is woven between the three characters over the course of a few days.
What did I think? This is a little gem of a film; all three actors turn in nuanced performances, making the complicated relationships between the three feel incredibly authentic. Duplass gets most of the laughs as Jack bumbles to keep the peace between Iris and Hannah, but it's Blunt and DeWitt that really shine as siblings that love each other through and through, but can't help pushing each other's buttons. The Seattle cabin setting also adds extra charm, and really makes the audience feel like you're trapped in the conundrum between the characters, isolated away from the rest of the world.

Trying Out Thomas Lee Sheets

After receiving my first set of Thomas Lee PerfectCale sheets over a month ago, they're the only sheets my mattress has seen since. Tightly woven with 500 threads per square inch of 100 percent Pima cotton, they have the softness of some of the cotton blend linens I've tried, but breathe so much better.

The extra deep corner pockets are ideal for my whopping 18-inch mattress, which can make sheet shopping difficult. By paying attention to the laundering instructions, I've noticed that the sheets are feeling a bit smoother after each cycle and haven't begun to pill, which is always a nuisance. While slipping cozy flannels into the rotation can be nice for extra chilly nights, I have a feeling these will be my go-to, year-round sheets.
