Zac Posen's Lower-Priced Line Back in Action!

Last we spoke about Zac Posen's lower-priced diffusion line, it was on hold due to the weak economy. No fear - it's back. Z Spoke is set to hit Saks Fifth Avenue exclusively in the Spring. The 60-piece range focuses on sportswear via knits, blazers, pleated khaki shorts, and shirts. The best part? The starting price point is $78.

"Zac has always wanted to do a line that would be Zac Posen, but maybe talk to a different girl,” said Ron Frasch, Saks's president and chief merchandising officer. No doubt it will speak to a different customer than his RTW line - one who is just as fabulous but budget-conscious.

Last night was a big night for the cool cast of Inglourious Basterds. At the New York premiere, co-hosted by Hugo Boss, a wild mix of Hollywood and fashion folk came out to support Quentin and Co. We already saluted Diane Kruger in her sparkling Miu Miu, but really, there was a festive mix of glam, casual, city, and street. Cinema-loving designers included Marc Jacobs and beau, Zac Posen, Rachel Roy, and Nicole Miller. And it's always lovely to see style mavens Michelle Monaghan and Eva Amurri. One hot dress, two hot MILFs. This one's a toughie. Zac Posen's cobalt silk ruffled dress was worn by Demi almost exactly a year ago (June 23, 2008). Cindy wore the stunner June 18 to help launch the new Remington hair straightener. Both ladies wore gold shoes - Cindy's are more fierce, Demi's peep toes are ladylike. They both opted for diamond bangles on the left wrist as well. Demi carried a black clutch while Cindy went hands free. What's your verdict?

What Inspires Suzy Menkes? Imagination, Execution, and Music

Alas, the day has come to part with dear Suzy Menkes. Sniff. I leave you with these last notes . . .

When AAU's executive director of fashion Gladys Perint Palmer said she's witnessed Suzy cover her ears when the music is too loud at a fashion show, Suzy said: "Music is the food of fashion. Music tells the designer’s spirit in a collection."

So what gets her blood boiling? "Imagination, originality, and execution. And it's a real joy seeing people from the very beginning," she said, referring to the likes of Alexander McQueen and Zac Posen, whom she's followed from the start of their careers. Aw, that's sweet!

Coco Rocha in Geometric Zac Posen: Love It or Hate It?

The always smiley Coco Rocha served as Zac Posen's date at the New Yorkers For Children Spring dinner dance last night. What a fun duo! Coco naturally wore one of Posen's creations, specifically a black and white geometric gown from the Spring '09 collection. Ladies and gents, you're looking at Zac Posen's ad campaign debut. Here's the story on why he decided to jump on the bandwagon now. The publisher of indie fashion magazine Fanzine137, Luis Venegas, made him an offer he couldn't refuse: a double spread to create his ideal ad. Posen quickly assembled a team - Ellen von Unwerth as the photographer, his stylist friend Christopher Niquet, and model Alexandra Tomlinson - and got to work at his friend Lorraine Kirke’s house. "Once Ellen saw me singing Cole Porter, laying on top of Lorraine’s grand piano, she decided it had to be the spot for the picture," Posen said. We think it's kind of boring, what do you think?

Behind the Seams: Genevieve Jones and La Perla Collections Preview

Handbags, jewels, and lingerie mingled this week when social-cum-handbag/jewelry designer Genevieve Jones and La Perla showed off their latest collections at the La Perla Black Label boutique in NYC. The likes of Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Elise Overland came out to ogle Genevieve's bling and La Perla's lacy underthings. Sounds like a win-win. Designer Zac Posen even showed up and nabbed a peck from the lady of the night, who, may I say, was dressed to impress.
