Not too long ago I told you about Ralph Lauren model Ubah Hassan, but how about some more? The 21-year-old was discovered in Canada at the age of 17 and shortly thereafter signed on with Click Model Management. Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani cast her in the magazine's first-ever black issue in 2008, then Mr. Lauren handpicked her to be his Spring '09 face. Lucky girl. I recently caught up with the Somalian beauty about her favorite designers, the modeling industry, and personal style.

Who is your favorite designer right now
Ralph Lauren.

What are three words that describe your personal style?
Daytime: comfortable and relaxed. Evening: elegant and sexy.

What is one destination you still need a stamp for on your passport?
Paris.

Best thing is meeting people from all over the world and learning their cultures. Worst thing is working after the redeye or shooting abroad with jet lag.

What are some highlights of working on the Ralph Lauren campaign?
Working with such an amazing team of such lovely and talented people; seeing all the beautiful images that are now appearing in the magazines; being recognized as the image for such an incredible American designer.

Any upcoming projects?
My lips are sealed.

A Few Fab Words With Pencey

Among the many commonalities Shopbop and I share is our intense adoration for all things Pencey. Shopbop houses many of the brand's dope dresses, leggings, blazers, skirts, and scarves. The more I see their pieces, the more I crave them. Currently, I'm crushing on the one-shoulder dress and ripped cutoff shorts (below), and the coral blazer romper. Notice how not only are their clothes unique, but so are their too-cool-for-school styling methods. I recently had the pleasure of chatting with designers Kate Wendelborn and Christina Minasian about their craft, their closets, and their inspiration.

What type of girl do you design for?
We design for ourselves, our friends, and any girl who wants to stand out in a crowd.

Most of your pieces are off-kilter and experimental. Are they a reflection of your own personal styles?
The pieces are not so experimental themselves. It's more in the way that you wear them. Pencey is definitely a reflection of both our styles.

Is there any item you refuse to work with or is it all fair game for Pencey?
Pretty much all fair game. Our minds change every five minutes.

How do you go about setting yourself apart from other brands in the market?
We try to make clothes that girls feel cool in. And we don't take ourselves too seriously.

What are some key piece from the Spring collection?
We used a lot of hardware like safety pins, hook and eyes, and studs. And a lot of floral prints.

Do you ever get designer's block during the process or is it pretty much smooth sailing?
If we get blocked we instantly move. The harder you think about something the worse the block gets. Sometimes we have to break it up by going on PopSugar! (Sweet)

Lauren Conrad Prefers Heels to Flats and Karl to Marc (!)

After compiling over 20 million of your votes, the 2nd annual PopSugar 100 is finally here! To help celebrate tomorrow's announcement of the PopSugar 100, and her debut on the list, we're bringing you this exclusive interview with Lauren Conrad!

It's been a huge year for LC; between her friendships, fashion line, and hit TV show, this starlet is bigger and better than ever. We had a chance to catch up with her and talk about love, happiness, food, fitness and just about everything else. The first time Fab came face to face with the reality darling was at LA Fashion Week back in October, where only a few words were exchanged. Next, we interviewed her shortly on the pink carpet at the 12th Annual Victoria's Secret fashion show. This time LC gets a bit more up close and personal about her busy life, and the highlight of her past busy year, starting her clothing line.

We know you have a ton of projects going on right now. What does a typical day look like for you?

They are all kind of different; this week is crazy because we have a photo shoot every single day. Except Wednesday, I am not the model, I’m shooting my resort look book and I have to be there all day, so those are actually even longer. It's almost more work when you are not the model; it's like an 11 or 12-hour day. Normally we film a few days out of the week and other days we are kind of doing other stuff. We keep pretty busy.

Have you ever come across anyone in all of your nights out that made you really starstruck? Any fun celebrities?

Actually yeah, I met Marc Jacobs when we were filming and I got so nervous when I saw him that I didn’t really know what to do. I was trying to act cool, but I didn’t even stand up to shake his hand. I actually came off a little bit too cold, like I didn’t really care and I felt kind of bad. I get really starstruck over really random people and designers.

Do you have any Summer must have items?

Sunscreen. I use a lot less of everything during the Summer - less makeup and almost no hair products. Summer is a little more natural I feel like. I think good bikinis because it's Summer!

Are you going to be at New York Fashion Week in September? Working or for fun?

Yeah, right now I am planning on it, but I never know for sure. Kelly [Cutrone] hasn’t told us whether we are working yet or not. I will either have to go out with Kelly or I will just go out to see some of the shows.

Do you prefer bags or shoes?

Oh, shoes!

Heels or flats?

Heels.

A Few Fab Words With Heidi Klum(!)

Heidi Klum. Where to begin? From the beginning, I suppose. German born Klum is no longer just a model. She is a model, actress, TV presenter, fashion designer, television producer, singer, wife and mother. No wonder Klum continues to inspire so many. She started as a model and Victoria's Secret model - that body, that face - and worked her way into our hearts hosting Project Runway and embarked on fashion projects along the way, i.e., her jewelry line and collaborating with Jordache.

Now married to Seal and the mother of three, Heidi always has a smile on her face. That is what inspires me. She is hardworking, doesn't take things for granted and seems to be a very happy person. And so, we are so excited we got an exclusive interview with the multi-tasking model! Be sure to also read her beauty interview with Bella.

Can you describe your personal style and how it has evolved over the years?

I have always had a very unique sense of style. I love bright colors and bold prints that make a statement. When I was young I was all about be-dazzling! I would be-dazzle everything from jean jackets to bags. That love for glitz and glam has stayed with me over the years but has matured. In my everyday life comfort is very important. I love throwing on a classic pair of jeans with a cozy tank and flip flops, especially when running around with the kids.

Tell us about the creative process for creating your jewelry line.

I don’t have a formal technique for designing jewelry, I just let myself become inspired by everything around me - vintage designs, trips, etc. The jewelry also reflects my personal style and the pieces I love to wear.

You have a lot of fashion projects at the moment: jewelry, sunglasses, fragrance and Birkenstocks. Is there one that particularly satisfies you the most? If so, why?

I have always been a very creative person and love having a channel to express my ideas whether it is designing products for a label or just painting with my children. I don’t have a favorite project but my jewelry line is definitely the most extensive. I have a very high end collection that I design with Mouawad, a silver collection for QVC, and a Top Model and Project Runway collection based on pieces I have worn in the shows. I also just started selling on Skymall (a guilty traveling pleasure of mine).

Is there a Heidi Klum clothing line in the future?

I just created a 15-piece capsule collection for Jordache. It was inspired by some of my favorite pieces from my closet. I wanted all the designs to be comfortable mixed with a bit of sexiness.

What new and exciting things can we expect on the next season of Project Runway?

Project Runway is always a surprise. You never know what is going to happen next and that is what keeps the show fresh and interesting. Last year was a great season so we are definitely continuing to push the envelope with design challenges. You’ll just have to wait and tune in!

A Few Fab Words With Emmanuelle Chriqui

We came to love Emmanuelle Chriqui as Sloan on Entourage. She provides some comic relief in the newly released You Don't Mess with the Zohan. Soon, we'll see her on the silver screen with Beyonce in Cadillac Records. And, Sugar had a chat with her this week! What's she like? Sweet, friendly, very at ease - and totally adorable. We have featured the Moroccan beauty's style before so I was excited to ask her about her approach to working the red carpet, her favorite designers, what her last big splurge was and who her fashion icons are. Without further ado, a few Fab words!

Everyone loved it. So I have to ask you, you look so confident on the red carpet, what is your secret?

Really? That’s so nice! What is my secret? Getting ready for the red carpet is all smoke and mirrors. You’ve got your stylist, your hair person, your makeup person, and a team of people that are going to make you look the best that they know how to make you. I think when you feel good it makes you more confident, but I used to really dread the whole press part of this business because I think it is really intense and sometimes it's just really scary.

People are so judgmental and often times publications will be like “What’s your secret to staying fit?” and you just kind of want to get it out there that you don’t obsess about these things. I think it is important for young people to not obsess about these things and realize that I have help; it's not like you wake up fabulous, come on, that just doesn’t happen. But I think for me, as far as your red carpet day (because it really tugs on your energy) I’m always just super zen when I am getting ready. Candles are lit, music is on, I create a really peaceful atmosphere and sort of prep myself to go out into the craziness. I don’t like to be rushed, I am very clear about what I want the look to be, and it's just really being focused. I think it's just also part of who I am as an actress, I like to be prepared, if I am going to go out and present myself, I just want to be prepared. So if that comes off as confidence, that is a wonderful thing, but for me if I don’t get prepared I am a wreck.

What was your last big shopping splurge?

I think it was shoes. One of my closest friends is the designer Lotta Stensson on Melrose and I’ll just go into her shop and have fun. I bought an amazing bikini, a couple dresses and jewelry and just fun stuff.

Cool, and what were the shoes?

Did you see pictures from the Iron Man premiere? In the white dress I had these amazing silver shoes. I swear, I made the best discovery on the entire planet, it's this shoe store called Xtc on Melrose. I like super high heels because I’m short, number one, and my least favorite part of me are my legs so the higher the heels the nicer your legs look. They make these super high heels and have built them with padding in the front. They are so comfortable I cannot explain, whenever I need a shoe now I just go there. Unless someone lends me some, like for the New York premiere I wore Jimmy Choos, which were fabulous, but if I am going to buy a pair of shoes I’m going to go for fabulous comfort. They are amazing, you really have to check it out.

Good! It’s a great little shoe store and I have been super lucky every time I go.

I was wondering, whose style do you admire?

Kate Hudson has amazing style. When she goes on the red carpet she always wears something unique and colorful and kind of bohemian in a way. I feel like she always does something different, which I really really like. But you know I’m not a very conservative person, sometimes there is that look to look really covered up and it doesn’t really suit me. If it is for a character that is one thing, but if I am going to go on the red carpet that is not my cup of tea, so I really love how she looks. You know who else has amazing style? Joy Bryant, I mean she is gorgeous and her body is retarded, she’s like tall and long, it always looks effortless and I love that.

What do you like or don’t like about Sloan's style on Entourage? Is it similar to your style at all?

It definitely can be, it is similar to my style if I am going to get really ready, yes, but she is really ready all the time. You never see Sloan just hanging out in jeans and a T-shirt, it just doesn’t seem to be her thing, whereas I am a jeans, boots, T-shirt girl. When I get dressed up yeah, I think we have similar style.

How has your personal style evolved?

I think it has evolved because it is the nature of the business. I am not a designer whore, I don’t care who I am wearing, if it fits well then I am happy. My personal style has evolved because I am much more familiar with designers now, and I can actually say oh I really like this brand because I know how they make it and I know how it fits me. It's just kind of opened up a lot more, but it is still kind of the same, I really don’t care who I am wearing as long as it looks exactly how I want it to look.

Who are your go-to designers right now?

Yigal Azrouel - I love the material, love it.

He just showed his Resort collection and it is gorgeous.

I don’t doubt it! I went and got a bunch of stuff when I was in New York that I swear I lived in. I just love the material, it is so yummy. It’s funny because I am still learning a lot. I am working with this stylist right now that I worked with for the LA and New York premieres, and she is amazing. She completely gets me. Her name is Brit Bardo, and she actually styled Kate Hudson which was so random, and she came to us. I looked at her website and was like “get out!” I can’t believe this is the stylist! I was always looking at these people and pointing that out and that’s the stylist! So she just really gets me. Through her I am being introduced to so many new designers, like I never knew who Amanda Wakeley was, but that dress from the LA premiere was sick! I loved it. I am also a huge Ingwa:Melero fan. I still wear them all the time. It’s one of those things where I know that it fits my body, it's easy and not a hassle. And the bigger designer stuff, but again it just depends on the event, but I really like Badgley Mischka? I'd love a gown of theirs.

A Few Fab Words With Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie thinks there's nothing cuter than a little boy dressed in a suit. I know this because she told me. Well, it is pretty cute. We snuck Richie away at a recent fundraiser event to talk charity, fashion, and her evolving brand House of Harlow. This happened the night after the Chanel party, so as you can see, Fab was on a celebrity binge. I think I got my fix after an intimate chat with the funny and laid-back Richie at the Cusp Boutique in LA. Nick Verreos, Project Runway alum and friend of Nicole, was also there so stayed tuned to hear what's new with him.

Nicole partnered up with Signorelli to create T-shirts benefiting The Children's Health Fund. She proudly announced raising $400,000! She was wearing the black tank with Angel motif - stay tuned to enter to win the tank Nicole was wearing that benefits the Fund. But first, a few Fab words . . .

What brings you here?

We’re partnering up with Signorelli to raise money for the Children’s Health Fund. Just in Los Angeles, there are 500,000 children without health care and by selling the T-shirts a large amount of the proceeds are helping to fund building for mobile units. So the mobile units can go around and provide immediate health care.

Did you have any say in the design of the shirts?

I didn’t but they sent me options and I went with the black tank, I wear a lot of black.

Can we talk about your jewelry line that’s in the works?

Yes. It’s called House of Harlow and it’s actually the beginning of a brand that I’m developing of children’s apparel and also a clothing line, shoes, bags, sunglasses, everything. I’m really excited. The jewelry is first and it will be out in late August.

Can you tell us about the children’s collection?

I’m at the very beginning stages but I’m designing adult clothes for babies. The girl’s clothes are designed after my personal clothing and the guy’s clothes are going to be designed after Joel’s.

So it’s going to be like a mini-me sort of thing.

Yes, exactly. So little hippie dresses for girls and sleeveless tops and suits for boys. I think there’s nothing cuter than a little boy dressed in a suit.

And what else are you wearing?

I think the jacket is Stella McCartney - is it? - the pants are Balenciaga, and Loubs. (And she was carrying her black Balenciaga motorcycle bag – with iPod headphones falling out).

How would you describe your personal style?

I don’t know how to answer that! I really don’t know, I feel like I wear the same thing every day. I just accessorize differently and wear whatever I’m comfortable in. Like, when I’m with the baby I wear flats and when I’m not I wear heels. It just depends on what mood I’m in.

How has your style evolved?

I still like to dress up. I think every girl, whether you’re 13 or in your twenties, should always try new things. I mean, I’ve had my hair pink and brown and blonde and I think it’s all about trying new things; I’m really open to new looks. I love fashion so much that I definitely want to take it to the next level and I’m really excited about it all.

A Few Fab Words With Sex and the City's Sarah Jessica Parker

They say, save the best for last. Sorry to keep you waiting, but it will all be worth it once you hear what SJP had to say about the Sex and the City movie wardrobe. From the very beginning, Carrie was the fashion maverick, the one who dared to wear anything and everything. Her style rebellion paid off in the end because the name Carrie Bradshaw will forever be uttered by the mouths of millions. Oh, how I will miss seeing her innovative outfits. Sniff.

Did you get to keep everything from the movie?

Everything that wasn’t borrowed. It's archived, and I had done that over the course of the series, which had really been beneficial actually, because when we had to go back in and shoot, and shoot that montage of all that stuff it was really great to have Carrie's closet available for that moving out stuff. There was a time that the montage included all of the women in my clothes dancing around and they really did put on my character’s outfits from those times. And I had actually archived a lot of the furniture, so it was kind of nice to have, as ludicrous as it may sound.

What are you wearing today, head to toe?

Hair is my own; dress is Lanvin; belt is my own, old Yves Saint Laurent; necklace, earrings Fred Leighton; shoes are Proenza Schouler; and some vintage bracelets from the thrift store.

Favorite outfit from the movie?

Can’t pick one, won’t. I love that belt though. Favorite child?

Did Carrie’s fashion change or evolve? Any input on the role of fashion in the movie?

It changed just the way we all change as we get older. Most of these women in the movie now really are not on the market, so they just dress differently. You get older and you just feel differently about it, I do. I see the connective tissue between then and now. It is more mature. It still demonstrates a love affair for fashion. I was part of the conversation to the degree that I started begging Pat to come back in May, and then in June and then July, because she was booked on all of these other shows. But that didn’t stop me; we started talking about wedding dresses in June because we knew how complicated that would be. I am part of the conversation but she is great storyteller with clothes. We call her the wizard because you end up trying anything on for her, even the most ridiculous and insane thing, and generally it is two in the morning and you are just so beaten down by then. But she is just great, she is amazing and we really couldn’t have done it without her.

Where do you find your confidence?

I don’t really have much. I think anything that is associated with this movie, this show I just feel I have unique and very special relationship with it. I was trying to explain earlier today that it's kind of like I would rather be cold and look good, I would rather wear heels and run down the block for fourteen hours and in six months see it on the screen and think yeah, it should have been heels running down the street running after that cab. Or, rather put, if I’m taken away from my child and I’m making this choice, I would rather put every ounce of myself into something; I can sleep June 12th. Michael and I, I think it is one of the many reasons I love him and we work so well together, is that we don‘t want to waste anyone’s time. A lot of people have put their faith and their time and their talent and their money in our hands, and that is every reason to work. Michael is always like, I will pull you bleeding across that finish line. And I’m like, I’m going to be in full stride buddy. You have to be a thoroughbred about it if you care.

Was the jewelry your own on Oprah?

The jewelry on Oprah were from VBH and Fred Leighton. And the dress was Mr. [Oscar] del la Renta. I had to give it back to him.

A Few Fab Words With Sex and the City's Kristin Davis

We are getting closer and closer to the Sex and the City movie premiere (yay!), and we have yet to hear from the entire cast. Next up is Kristin Davis, aka Charlotte York. She was traditional, loved simplicity, and never wore anything too avant-garde. Still, her sweetness won us over, no matter our style preference. Here, Kristin dishes about her on-screen wardrobe, what she got to keep, and how her character's style has evolved.

Did Charlotte break out any new fashion?

She was never a rule breaker. She updated a little, but I wouldn’t call it a breaking of any rules. Pat is a very creative woman as we all know and really felt strongly that all of the girls would be updated in a way that would reflect where they were in life. So my silhouette is a bit more simple, a little less bows and flowers and things that she used to wear. And she wanted to try, and this is obviously in one’s fantasy life, a little bit of 1970s Jackie O – the sunglasses and on.

Were you excited about the outfits?

Yeah. It sounds so surface-y, but back in the real world we have been in for the last couple of years, you go to your fitting and you’re like, oh dear. Because we were just spoiled, spoiled, spoiled. Sarah had actually emailed me after hers [fitting] because she had actually had a little, ohhhhhhhh reaction, and she was like, wait until you get here. So I was kind of like, OK, I’m ready, and you walk in and there’s literally everything, tables of bags, tables of shoes, just a warehouse of literally every couture sample that is even remotely available. It really is quite something, and we could never do it without the support of the designers because even though we have a very lovely budget from New Line, it's just not possible.

Any outfits you would like to keep?

It's in our contracts that we get to keep our outfits, which is a fantastic thing. Except that for me, all of my outfits were samples. They were like, OK Kristin go upstairs and pick out the ones that you want, and I went upstairs and there was nothing there. You know what was there, my running pants, which I love, I wear them a lot in life, but I was like, where are my clothes? Because we had so many fittings and we had fittings all through the movie because we were waiting for the latest runway samples to come for like the tropical part and all that. So when I got there I had realized that everything was a sample and I was like, who took my clothes? I got all of the shoes. And then I got a beautiful Chanel bag because the wardrobe people felt terrible and called Chanel and were like Kristen doesn’t have any clothes, do you mind giving her this bag, it was so cute. And then I got a really cool dress from the tropical section, that yellow Biba, the very vacationy dress. So I did get some very choice pieces.

My [bridesmaid] dress was actually Zac Posen, her [Sarah's] wedding dress is Vivienne and honestly that is called the Black Swan and I wouldn’t want it. Even though it is a work of art, I just ran into him the other day and people keep asking me if I have that. First of all it would take up my whole closet; if you take that dress out, you could stand that dress and it would stand by itself, that’s how much weird plastic filament is in it. There’s only one of them, he’s got it back. It can stay back with him. It was not meant to be worn around the streets.

A Few Fab Words With Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall

By now, we've heard from Sex and the City newcomer Jennifer Hudson and veteran Cynthia Nixon, and now it's time for the fabulously bold Kim Cattrall to speak up. As evidenced by the photo on the left, Samantha always took the time to match her shoes to her skirt suit to her purse, and though she never inspired me to do the same, her witty sex banter was integral to the show. Here, Kim shares her thoughts on her oversized hat, what she didn't get to keep, and where her character gets her confidence.

Did anything in your wardrobe stand out to you? That hat?

I loved them. Working with Pat Field is fantastic; she is so creative. Always with my stuff, because I have to do so much physical comedy, she would really listen to what I needed to make it work. That was really helpful. She would bring colors. I mean that beautiful hat in the guacamole scene.

Did you keep the hat?

No. You know they sent three huge boxes of things from SATC, and most of my stuff was not there. And the hat wasn’t there. And there were like three pairs of shoes. I went, what?! I said I wore those shoes, they can’t sell those, they can’t resell them. There’s a bulletin out for Samantha’s togs!

Was the hat custom made?

No, no. That is a vintage piece that she [Field] bought in a second hand stall. It was ripped and torn and ready for the heap; her little elves stitched it all together and seamed it and reseamed it. And then they brought it to a fitting and I just fell in love with it. I was supposed to originally wear it when I’m running down the beach after the dog, and it looked ridiculous. I was like this is not going to work. So he said, well we are just not going to use it. I said, no, no, no, I have to use that hat, it is so extraordinary! It's like out of the '30s and the '40s, you can see Loretta Young in it. I said, I have the guacamole scene. And it became a prop, like she was hiding behind the hat. It made the scene. It was like she wants to look but she doesn’t want to look. The hat saved the day.

Where do you think Samantha finds her confidence?

I think she has a tremendous amount of confidence. She is a little bit older than the others, so she comes from just a little more experience. And I think that she has led a very full life. I think that fearlessness about her is what makes her so attractive. Because she doesn’t care if it’s the wrong color, she doesn’t care if it's taboo. It’s a waste of her time. She doesn’t sweat the small stuff. She just lets it go. Her vulnerability shows when it's intimacy; she can’t really deal with that. I think she has what comes with age, and as I’m finding as I get older, is that knowledge of self.

A Few Fab Words With Sex and the City's Cynthia Nixon

OK, so Miranda Hobbes wasn't the most stylish character on Sex and the City, but you can't deny that she got more and more fashionable as the seasons progressed. She was the most improved. Plus, her sarcastic tone was essential to the show. At a recent press junket, actress Cynthia Nixon dished about her favorite on-screen outfits, New York, and her fashion concerns of the flick.

Did you get to keep the clothes?

Yes, I did. I did get to keep the clothes. I got to keep almost everything. You know, I feel like the other women wore a lot of samples and stuff. Miranda is not that quite cutting edge, so they actually purchased a lot of the clothes.

Any favorites?

I have to say the very first outfit that I wear, when the four of us are walking down the street. It's kind of metallic, of course I don’t know who designed it, but I didn’t get to keep that one.

This movie was targeted toward a younger fan base up to an older audience than the original TV show. What is your input on putting out this image of fashion and the big city?

I think we are a very youth oriented culture, particularly in terms of the young market and how people chase that. But I also feel like talking not about men, but just about women and the ideas of their sexuality and being sexually appealing, I think we have greatly extended that recently. So I do think for women my age and older it can really have a positive impact. I worry more about the younger women that believe that somehow because we dress this way in the series and in the movie that somehow they think we’re real and that they should be dressing this way. And that every day, their hair has to be done, they have to be wearing high heels, a different dress every day, and a how ever many thousand dollar handbag. I worry more about the girls who just sort of follow us like a blueprint.

Was it important for you that the show was in NYC?

Yes, of course, when we started doing it we had no idea it would take off like this. I’m usually not very proactive about jobs, I just sort of get offered a few and I take whatever looks best. But when I got this script, I said I have to do whatever I can to maximize my chances of getting in this because it's really interesting, it's about women which is so interesting and unusual, but even more important than either of those two is that it shoots in New York; and there is so little that shoots here. So it's definitely the reason I got teamed up with it in the first place, and of course it would continue to shoot here and that was just an incredible feeling.
