Power Couple: Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos

Ever since I saw E's True Hollywood Story: Kelly Ripa I've been noticing her and her hottie hubbie, Mark Consuelos. I never watched the show where they met, starred and fell in love, All My Children, so as an outsider I can testify that this is one hot power couple. Kelly is not big in the fashion scene, nor is Mark, but they have proven that after 11 years of marriage they know how to keep the flame alive and look good doing it - even with three kids.

From Jersey to Spain, these two opposites found love, on the set no less. They have proven to be a healthy, happy couple. What's their secret? Mark says, "Sometimes the key is to have a bit of distance." Amen to that! He also credits the blonde powerhouse to keeping the fire alive, "My wife is extremely spicy." Nice! Designer Spotlight: Caroline Hedeya

This is a story about two girls, Caroline and Donna, who were destined to become stylish bosom buddies. Before they met at F.I.T., the two led parallel lives hoping to become fashion designers one day. Shortly after graduating, Caroline and Donna combined their quirky ideas to create Caroline Hedaya, a genesis of Caroline's graceful touches with Donna's architectural aesthetic. For Spring '10, the duo supply us with a girlie gambit of crisp skirts, cropped lace tops, modern vintage frocks, and polka-dot prints made in cream and navy hues. I don't know which I love more: the simple cinched camisole dress or the white cut-out wonder . . .

Here's a fun fact: At the age of 4, Caroline used to get phone calls from her teacher telling her mom that her outfits were too extravagant for school. Luckily, her mother refused to pacify her daughter's eccentric ways - too cute!

Freaky or Fabulous? Daphne Guinness in Alien Alexander McQueen

Camilla Belle isn't the only one adoring Alexander McQueen's Spring '10 collection: Daphne Guinness loves it, too. The muse hosted NARs' 15th anniversary party in NYC yesterday decked out in the designer's ethereal alien dress and matching shoes. The sky-high platforms would have made a major statement on their own, but of course, Daphne took it to the next level and committed to the whole space-age ensemble - even her hair looks galactic! Is her 'fit freaking you out, or do you think it's fashion fabulous?

I interrupt this regular special programming to bring you a classic. A masterpiece. An ode. The king of pop passed away today at the age of 50. No one had style, flavor, and attitude like Michael. Flashback: my older brother in a red studded nylon jacket and glittery glove when it was all the rage - he was about 9 years old. And Thriller! Again, the brother, and a righteous (and easy DIY!) Halloween costume. We were all there. We were all mesmerized. This video tells another great MJ story - he was such a great visual maestro - the story of rival gangs who loved to accessorize and pop their collars. Also notice Michael's fresh piano tee pajamas. May Michael, his muse, and his videos rock on.

Model Muse: Daria Werbowy

Models have a pretty face and killer bod - it's part of the job. But when they also have enviable personal style, it's a bonus. Daria is one of those lovelies I want to see both off- and on-duty because she looks just as cool on the streets as she does on the catwalk. She's effortless, both in beauty and in taste; that's what makes her one of my new-school model muses. Though she's considered Canadian, Daria was actually born in Poland in 1983. She's Ukrainian by ethnicity and even has Ukrainian citizenship. She won a national modeling contest at the age of 14, and now she's on top, with the title of ninth highest-earning model in 2008 according to Forbes. Despite all the competition she has, I'll never grow tired of seeing her healthy glow, alluring eyes, and killer panache.

A Few Fab Words With Ralph Lauren Model Ubah Hassan

Not too long ago I told you about Ralph Lauren model Ubah Hassan, but how about some more? The 21-year-old was discovered in Canada at the age of 17 and shortly thereafter signed on with Click Model Management. Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani cast her in the magazine's first-ever black issue in 2008, then Mr. Lauren handpicked her to be his Spring '09 face. Lucky girl. I recently caught up with the Somalian beauty about her favorite designers, the modeling industry, and personal style.

Who is your favorite designer right now
Ralph Lauren.

What are three words that describe your personal style?
Daytime: comfortable and relaxed. Evening: elegant and sexy.

What is one destination you still need a stamp for on your passport?
Paris.

Gossip Girl Fashion Quiz: "The Age of Dissonance"

For someone who's been feeling the pains of the Gossip Girl drought, last night's episode left me dehydrated. I thought for sure with the high school's production of The Age of Innocence at least the costumes would be inspiring; alas, they too left me high and dry. The storylines haven't changed much since we last spied on the young and the restless. Blair is still pouty and obsessed with her Yale admission; Serena is a love-lost puppy (clearly, he was gay); Dan is, well, Dan doesn't know what he's doing; and Chuck is chasing after his father's ghost. Bring back the Jenny teenage angst if you must! Let the fashion trivia commence.

Brian Reyes Talks Marble, Hints Handbags, and Designs During Hard Times

Brian Reyes's clothes are undeniably pretty, but, as I discovered backstage at his Fall show, it's all in the details. I was able to closely examine the clothes, some smart separates, some intricately beaded dresses. But a wavy seam, slight cut-out, or asymmetrical contour provided more than meets the eye. This was a backstage that was pretty under control; the designer stopped to talk to me for a few minutes while hair and makeup was wrapping up. He was "giddy" minutes before showtime. Aside from the unraveling of the models and their stiletto Manolo Blahniks, the show proved a success. For the finale, the shoes were thrown into a heap on the ground and models enthusiastically walked on. Reyes's most famous fan, Rachel Bilson, seemed to think so too. What inspired you this season?

"We wanted her to be sharp, tailored, glamorous, and sexy - very important. She’s a young girl, and we dress a lot of young girls, but we love that she’s growing with us so we want her to be a young lady. A young, elegant lady. But still with androgyny, still with the elements we love. The raw element, but maybe raw in the sharp cut of the line."

Tell me about your lingerie line?

"We incorporate it into our ready-to-wear. We have custom prints that really work well with this collection and we are injecting basic lingerie pieces in those prints. We have this tailored girl and she still needs to be feminine; it’s important to keep that alive in the collection."

This is an interesting printed dress.

"Everything we have in this collection is custom to this girl, the shoes, the makeup, the hair. All the prints were custom developed and inspired by marble quarries. And marble also from around the world. It can be an interpretation of whoever's wearing it, it could be something that represents electricity, or represents an oxidized statue that’s beautiful. It’s really up to the wearer's interpretation."

Who do you see wearing your clothes?

"She’s worldly and every age. We dress young women in their twenties and thirties, and fifties and sixties; I love that we get to dress every woman. I think that’s so unique and special about our collection."

What other news can we expect from you this year?

"We collaborated with Roxanne Assoulin from Lee Angel, we’re selling the jewelry from this collection. The lingerie is very important. The bags are ours, we’re not launching a bag collection but we wanted something that was very special, it could be something to explore in the future."

How are you doing things differently given the current economic climate?

"We’re just being more cautious and intelligent. I think it forces you to be competitive and be competitive with yourself. It forces you to be more creative and that is exciting."
