As far as prints go, madras has earned its stripes as a preppier staple. It makes us think of New England Summers and looks fresh and seasonal on our button-downs, bikinis, and even sneakers. Madras also has the benefit of being one of the more breezy fabrics that looks just right when it's been appropriately rumpled, and let's just say August is our month to be appropriately rumpled. The latest collection coming from InCase, A.P.C., does just that - crafted from fabric that was made to look like salvaged denim with a luscious leather trim, the plain iPad Book Jacket ($100) and MacBook Sleeve ($80) are the perfect accessories for long Summer days at work. Inspired Spring: The Lisbon Sisters' Dreamy Chic

Based on the novel by Jeffrey Eugenides, The Virgin Suicides is the sleepy portrayal of the five Lisbon sisters and their mysterious suicides, set in a 1970s Detroit suburb. While the subject matter is melancholic, it's hard to ignore the soft, feminine fashion. 21 Days of Resolutions: Stylish but Practical Footwear

We're thrilled to present our favorite Lucky story here on Fab!

Coordinating my daily footwear choices during the winter involves mapping out a complicated battle plan: Should I wear the heavy-duty boots all day and look silly at work? Forgo the boots and have cold (or worse! stepped-in-slush-wet!) feet during my commute? Wear wellies and schlep my heels to work in a giant, heavy tote?

What, exactly, is the best way to stay warm and dry without looking completely sloppy?

This year I am streamlining my morning footwear deliberation into a no-brainer routine-cute waterproof boots with skinnies or tights outside and a tiny rolled-up pair of flats in my purse for later. Here are some of my favorite combos:

1. Loeffler Randall rain boots with back zip, $195, loefflerrandall.com. Just like the trademark leather boots they are modeled after, these sleek boots have a subtle, leg-lengthening wedge.

2. Rodarte for Repetto ballerinas, $425, openingceremony.us. The mesmerizing marbleized effect of these butter-soft flats makes any outfit a showstopper.

3. Steve Madden Tsunamii rain boots, $79.95, zappos.com. Motorcycle buckles and a shock of red down the back make these cool-girl boots both gritty and fun.

4. Porselli ballerina flats, $122.50, usonline.apc.fr. A rusty red pairs well with worn-in corduroys during the winter but sets off a crisp white dress perfectly after the snow has melted.

5. Women's duck boots, $69.50, canvas.landsend.com. Something about these utilitarian booties makes me want to pull them on over chunky cabled socks.

Desire/Acquire: Modern Plaid Quilt

I'm a big qulit fan, so when BellaSugar introduced me to Jessica Ogden and Jean Touitou's The Quilt Project, I eagerly pored over the seven quilt designs, which hit Apc stores last week.

Hand-stitched in India in runs of 30 quilts per design, they use a patchwork of material used in past collections from Apc. I especially like the look of Quilt Q5A ($995), with its punchy use of plaids and ginghams.

I also love that fabric scraps are being upcycled into quilts - it's a great example of reuse from a major company - but at a cool thousand dollars per quilt, I'm definitely not going to be purchasing one anytime soon.
