Nicky Hilton's Spring 2008 collection for her line, Chick by Nicky Hilton, is retro with a modern twist. This apple print halter mini dress is one of the many cutesy pieces Paris' little sis designed. Although apples aren't one of my favorite fruits (I mean does an apple a day really keep the doctor away?), I would wear this frock because it's lighthearted, fun and super girly. FABTV: Fiona Apple "Across the Universe"

I still haven't gotten around to seeing Across the Universe, but here's another take on the Beatles song. Fiona, intense as always, did a cover of the song for the movie Pleasantville - which I loved. Her rendition is sleepy and beautiful, and slow. Even though this video is shot in black and white, a main theme of the movie's plot, and slowly pans around creating a soothing effect, there is complete mayhem in the background. It seems Pleasantville extras are wrecking havoc on the local diner. The camera style is an assuage to the violent behavior. Juxtaposition at its best.

A sexy, sultry, saturated crime scene. If that's the look Fiona was going for for this video, she didn't miss a beat. Fiona's glowing eyes - she has the most gorgeous green eyes doesn't she? - add a fabulous creepy factor. I would say that Fiona was feeling quite randy when she, A) wrote this song, then, B) delivered this video. Her lanky limbs, in addition to many other limbs laying about the crime scene, make for an alluring fantasy. Then, girl even does a little strip tease; she was way ahead of Spring 2008's lingerie trend.

With the endless amounts of buzz about the Apple iPhone, you knew it was only a matter of time before someone made a luxury cover to go with the luxury phone!

Leave it to Louis Vuitton to be first: starting on July 16, the Vuitton Fifth Avenue flagship in Manhattan will be selling cases in a variety of colors and materials, ranging from $225 for the Monogram canvas to $1,120 for an alligator case.

For you style-conscious techies not in New York, the cases are supposed to launch nationwide at the end of October!

The iPod As Accessory

With every iPod release, Apple adds a new twist. This time around, it has created a new iPod Shuffle that doubles as an accessory. This ingenius and tiny gadget has a handy built-in clip, so you can easily affix it to your pocket, sleeve, or bag. The sleek-looking Shuffle is also an amazing deal: For $79, you can store as many as 240 songs. I'm a huge music fan, so it's not big enough to serve as my only music player. But for running and gym-going, it can't be beat. Because regular iPods are equipped with hard drives, running and other jostling activities can be damaging. The iPod Shuffle, however, is Flash-based, meaning no hard drive, so it's much better to use while jogging. You can buy it here.

RIP: Donald Fisher, Co-Founder of the Gap

Our hearts go out to the friends and family of Donald Fisher, co-founder of the Gap, who died on Sunday, in San Francisco. Donald founded the American casual label we all know (and love), with his wife Doris in 1969. The company just celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Named for the “generation gap” between Baby Boomers and their parents, the Gap revolutionized retail - the Fishers were inspired by a frustrating shopping experience. The couple had difficulty exchanging an ill-fitting pair of jeans and couldn't find the right denim size with the assortment at local department stores. They opened the first Gap store in the foggy city, sales reached $2 million the following year, and the rest is retail history.

I just found out my dad met Don circa '72 - they did some business together. Don was wearing a denim Levi's suit that my dad coveted and ended up hunting down and buying for himself. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, eh?

With Creative Director Patrick Robinson creating new heat for the established brand, the Gap, and Don's denim doings, live on.

Fashion Week Quickie: Rebecca Taylor's Sweet City Girl

New York Fashion Week kicks off tomorrow and yours truly will be leaving on a jet plane, heading into the fashion frazzle. But if the Spring collections are as pretty as Rebecca Tayor's promises to be, it's shouldn't be too fretful.

For Spring, the Fab fave designer is inspired by "urban femininity." Expect to see skyscraper-printed sandals and architectural stretch dresses softened by corseted bustiers and flippy, pull-on printed skirts. Tiny leather skirts, strong shoulders, and a tight-waisted silhouette modernize the collection. Always keen on color, big-apple reds, shocking pinks, electric blues, and retro jades contrast with desert tans and soft, peachy oranges. Sounds delicious.
