Wednesday was nail-art-themed for our Instagram challenge, and we must say our readers are pretty talented with a paint brush. We spotted adaptations inspired by The Hunger Games' District 12 and Effie Trinket. There were ombréd tips, polka dots, nouveau French manicures, animal print, and glitter galore. From what we can see, you have been paying close attention to the nail trends for Spring and Fall 2012. But are you ready to get twisted with braids today?

I've been obsessed with Seattle artist Frida Clements's work for some time now. Her style, which encompasses art nouveau-inspired as well as nature-based imagery, looks gorgeous when it's illustrating gig posters for some of my favorite bands, including Bon Iver, Joanna Newsom, Rufus Wainwright, and Spoon, among many others.

When I visited Seattle recently, I asked Frida if I could pop in to take some photos of her home and home studio. She graciously agreed, and when I arrived, I was treated to a warm, cozy, and lovely home dotted with art and nostalgic remembrances. Iconic Design: The Cuckoo Clock

In the 17th century, Europe was going through a mini-ice age. Temperatures were so low that milk would freeze in the pail between trips to the barn and the house, causing many villagers to think of alternative ways to earn a living. The art of clock making caught on, and people began to create elaborate clocks in their homes during the long, harsh Winters. Clock makers in Germany's Black Forest were known for their skills, peddling the clocks around Europe during the Spring and eventually creating the famous cuckoo clocks we know today.

The popularity of these clocks soared from the 1800s until the 1920s, reflecting whatever style was in vogue, from baroque to art nouveau. Cuckoo clocks became a staple piece for every European bourgeois living room. Today, this iconic design is hotter than ever with ultra-clean versions that only reference the silhouette. Our pick? Luna Bella's Beautiful Lighting: Two of My Favorite Finds at High Point Market

Based in Florida, Luna Bella creates gorgeous lighting, furniture, and decor inspired by founders and designers Nicolas Trujillo and Teresa Costa's artistic backgrounds. With a nod to art nouveau and classical eras, their designs possess an innate grace that's completely compelling. I also love that this design team keeps its manufacturing in the United States - an increasingly rare occurrence in any industry nowadays. Each of Luna Bella's unique designs is manufactured in its south Florida facility.

While at High Point Market this week, I was floored by two of the designers' lighting creations. Although I'm only featuring two products in this slideshow - the Zola Pendant and the Sulpice Pendant - I felt that the beauty of these pieces demanded a number of angles and views. Take a look.

Gwyneth Paltrow isn't just a patron of London's reopened Arts Club - she's also part of the entertainment! After Gwyneth and Cameron Diaz toasted their relaunch, it was time for a few glasses of red wine and speeches. Gwyneth brought her drink to a podium in the middle of the restaurant section to say a few words, then Prince Philip, the Queen's 90-year-old husband, did the same. Prince Philip also unveiled a plaque commemorating the club's 148 existence. The group, which apparently included Prince William's good pal Guy Pelly too, then moved downstairs to the Club Nouveau. Mark Ronson was first onstage with his band the Knights Before, who used to work with Amy Winehouse. When his set was over, Mark sat down at a table and charmed both Cameron and Gwyneth. Gwyneth couldn't resist hopping onstage to belt out a few medleys, including a version of Cee-Lo Green's "F*ck You." Gwyneth reportedly looked at Prince Philip afterward and, considering the foul language in the lyrics, said, "Please don't tell the Queen!"

Kat Von D's New Adora Perfume Is Pretty Sweet

The multiply tattooed Kat Von D already has two perfumes out (Sinner and Saint), but now she's bowing a third, called Adora ($55). I checked the bottle out because it's rather pretty and has metallic panels inspired by the art of famed Art Nouveau illustrator Alphonse Mucha.

When I actually got around to spritzing it, I was pleasantly surprised by the scent, too. It's a fruity floral, like most celebrity fragrances, but instead of the weak white musk most stars' scents use as a base, Adora dries down to a sweet, natural-smelling patchouli. While it's still a "blended" floral that's not recognizable as any real flower, it's heady and has none of the metallic undertones many similar fragrances do. If you love sweet, woody scents, consider giving this one a sniff the next time you're in Sephora.
