Project Runway Spawns Two New Shows

Not content with simply delivering new designers to the world, Project Runway has produced two new spinoff series for Lifetime featuring its stars. The first is a reality show starring Santino Rice and Austin Scarlett, who will team up to scour the country to find women who need fashion makeovers (oh, to be a fly on a seat in that car).

The second show, currently titled Love's Divine, will follow real-life marrieds Heidi Klum and Seal as the famously happy duo also scours the country - only they'll be on the road to find other couples who need relationship help. So far, Project Runway's other spinoff, Models of the Runway, has been underwhelming, but I have faith that these better-known personalities will make watchable TV.

Seal Has an Armful of Heidi Klum on His Hands

Heidi Klum had her annual Halloween party at 1 Oak in NYC on Friday night and dressed up to the nines as usual - check out all of Heidi's past years' intricate costumes here. Decked out in head-to-toe blue with six extra arms, Heidi dressed up as a Hindu goddess while Seal was an Indian warrior. Christian Siriano got in on the fun as Cruella de Vil and Kyle MacLachlan tanned himself in a white robe. As everyone danced to Nelly Heidi sang, "It's getting hot in here. I want to take my arms off." Another successful party for our favorite costumed family.

Double Take: Yves Saint Laurent and Austin Scarlett

I've long thought that Project Runway alum Austin Scarlett and the late Yves Saint Laurent share an uncanny resemblance to one another. Granted, the 27-year-old Austin resembles a 38-year-old Yves in 1974, but one can't deny the physical similarities. They're both tall, lean, have square jaw lines, wear oversize square glasses, and have thin lips and golden hair. Oh, and both are fashion designers, but clearly their likeness doesn't go beyond the physical. I doubt anyone's talent, including Austin's, will be comparable to that of genius Yves - but you never know, right? It's nice to know we have someone to remind us of the dapper lad from Algeria who roamed and fashioned the streets of Paris in the '70s.

Project Runway, Episode 1 "Let's Start From the Beginning"

Project Runway fanatics know that last night's challenge - creating clothes out of items from Gristedes Supermarket - was nothing new. Hence the title of the episode, "Let's Start From the Beginning." And start from the beginning they did because they brought on Season 1 contestant, and winner of the original Gristedes challenge, Austin Scarlett, as a guest judge. Not surprisingly, the 16 designers freaked out upon hearing their challenge. I bet you half of them didn't even pay attention to Austin's instructions as they were busy visualizing which aisle they were going to run to. While some of them, including some of my favorites, were a little bit of a let down, others stepped up to the plate and impressed us.

To hear more (spoiler alert!) and to see the clothes created,

I, like the judges, was disappointed that so many designers used tablecloths. The point of the challenge was to think outside the box, but so many stuck to their comfort zone. Those that did bring innovativeness and were greatly praised were Wesley, who incorporated fly swatters, Joe, who used pasta, Daniel, who made a dress strictly out of plastic cups, and Kelli, who won because of her highly-detailed dress made from vacuum bags, coffee filters, and notebook spirals. Although Blayne, the tan-a-holic, made a foolish outfit that reminded Michael Kors of the wrestling challenge, Jerry's raincoat made out of shower curtains was plain scary. The irony is that he claimed he was the most experienced designer. Naturally, he was auf'd. What are your thoughts from last night's episode?

Glee wrapped up its second season this week, but the big finale wasn't as grand as fans were hoping. Even that big kiss between Finn and Rachel and an unexpected new pairing couldn't save the boring musical numbers and lackluster writing.
