The Look For Less: Prada Satin Banded Sandals

Prada's Fall 2007 RTW runway brought us these beauties: the Prada Satin Banded Sandals, about $520. The fashion world really needed footwear as unique as this because, quite frankly, I'm getting a tad tired of Louboutins since we've been seeing them everywhere. Lucky for us, a major shoe retailer has copied this style and it's fairly reasonable in price.

Thank you, Nine West, for getting on the ball and designing these Prada-like Nine West Metropops, $79. They're banded, they're open toe and most importantly, the heels have curves. It also comes in silver/black. Talk about from runway to real way!

Alexander Wang Cage Dress: Love It or Hate It?

We all dig the caged sandals trend, but what about Alexander Wang's Cage Dress ($645)? I'm usually a fan of slices but this creation has me in a tizzy. The mummy-like banding has major style potential but it can also look unflattering on a lot of peeps - me included. Hmm, what do you think?

2009 Fall Paris Fashion Week: Emanuel Ungaro

It's always a party for super-young Ungaro designer Esteban Cortazar. You can quickly tell by his love for brights, minis, frills, and funk. Ungaro is quickly becoming my party-girl-inspired favorite. Come Fall we can expect jolts of fuchsia, cobalt, and tangerine amidst draping, ruffles, ruching, and twists. Sound busy? Indeed. But oh so delish.
Prints were spun into the mix as well: graphic polka dots and electric swirls. I couldn't help but see flouncy Lacroix influences . . . Radical accessories like colored tights and metallic banded sandals were youthful, while loose suiting brought an element of sophistication. Lastly, bright, chunky knits proved you can be cozy and slightly crazy at the same time.

Celebrity Style: Mandy Moore

The always-smiling Mandy Moore lit up a recent red carpet not only with her grin but also with her ensemble. On top, she kept things casual in an Alexander Wang tank and a modern denim jacket. On the bottom, she went sexy in Larsen Gray's black band skirt and nude sandals. Most stars stay away from wearing denim on the red carpet, but I'm glad Mandy attempted it . . . and got it right.

Let's face it: Lamé got a bad rap. The world experienced too much of a good thing in the excessive '80s. I think we've finally recovered from the overdose. Here we are, far from lame lamé. Mad Men's January Jones shows us how to have fun in lamé in her one shoulder belted frock. She slices the sheen up with a black banded belt but dares to wear metallic sandals to keep the fluidity. Does she pull it off? Is lamé still lame? You tell me.

Fabcon: Anita Pallenberg

Oh, what I would give to travel back to the '60s and be a fly on the wall when Anita Pallenberg, once common-law wife of Rolling Stones' Keith Richards, ruled the rock 'n roll scene. It was a largely male-dominated industry, yet Anita had a unique musical influence over the band.

Born on January 25, 1946 in Rome, Italy, Anita was a model, actress, and has more recently become a fashion designer. But nothing makes her more well-known than her non-musical connection to the Stones. Besides having three children with Keith, Anita was romantically involved with band member Brian Jones, and also rumored to have hooked up with Mick Jagger. Given Anita's wild ways, I wouldn't be surprised.

While Anita's partying ways are intriguing, I'm more drawn to her unfussy boho style. Before the Siennas and the Kates (she's actually friends with Kate), Anita epitomized the hippie-chic style. Everything we wear now, she's already worn: stacked bangles, fur coats, gladiator sandals, wide belts . . . Because of her sass, courage, and style, she carved herself a place in the world. And what a rockin' place!

Style For Style: Sweaty Feet Fix

I have these Theory Mirror leather sandals ($207) in pewter and have been wearing them to death - they are a great alternative to black shoes and the criss-cross style is very modern. But never have I worn them when I was in hot weather, and so, I recently found out they have a slippery inside. I was caught in this dilemma while living it up in LA at Hills' hangout Les Deux with PartySugar. I was so nervous slipping around in my shoes, I had to find a quick solution.

First I tried Band-Aids on the bottoms of my feet and, duh, they totally slipped around, too. Then, I remembered that bathroom attendants at such chichi clubs as Les Deux having everything you could possibly need. I was saved when the lovely attendant handed me some Johnson's Baby Powder ($5). A $5 tip and problem solved.

I recommend testing any new shoes in a warmer climate before going out. Walk around the house for a half hour when you're getting ready and if you feel any slippage, powder your feet. Rest assured, now you know you can definitely dance the night away.
