The Look For Less: Vivre Beaded Rope Necklace

I never considered wearing a beaded rope necklace until I came across one in the jewelry sale section at Macy's. I mean, for $6, I couldn't refuse. Although I bought it to use mainly as a bracelet, it evolved into a necklace at a recent event. These Appartement a Louer Beaded Rope Necklaces ($175 each), similar to mine, are really nice, but not worth the money.

Now, $27 is much more like it. These Ravin Gems Beaded Link Necklaces ($27 each) are very similar to the one I have. Throw them on over a T-shirt for instant coolness. But wait, there's an even cheaper one . . .

Though slightly shorter, this Target Oversize Seed-Bead Link Necklace ($18) is still really awesome and good for those who don't like long necklaces. Take your pick and chain yourself.

Celebrity Style: Halle Berry

Hot mama Halle Berry visited the dentist's office in a casual, clean ensemble. I can just envision her effortlessly throwing on her Inhabit cowl-neck linen dress over a gray camisole, adding a long beaded necklace, and beaded T-strap sandals. To tie a nice bow around the look, Halle incorporated beaded bracelets, her Tom Ford sunnies, and favorite Versace bag. Au natural with a pinch of glamour.

Glitterati: Gold & Citrus

Highlighting local talent is always nice, so allow me to introduce Gold & Citrus, a new jewelry line based in San Francisco. Founders Sara and Rich are in this together: Sara is the jewelry designer, Rich is the website designer. The former creates made-to-order pieces out of everything from beads to gemstones, feathers to antique sequins. And the only machine she uses is her sewing machine. Cool.

The current collection is necklace-heavy, but also includes some funky body chains and a headpiece. The common theme is all the creations combine luxury and playfulness. My favorite is this Tangelo Necklace ($376). It's exotic, and looks like three necklaces in one.

Look of the Day: Perfectly Peachy

Peach is such a delicious color, and bebelicious is perfectly peachy. You don't see this many ethereal colors together that often. Peach, ivory, and white all meld together so well. I'm going to try it. Adding a tinge of darkness is her wooden beaded necklace. Yummy.

Joy's got the necklace mix down. It's so easy, and it elevates her simple look. It's also a sweet way to show off your sentimental style. I tend to layer chains with charms, and mix metals, but I'm now inspired to throw beads, chains, and ribbons into the mix. The only rule is, there is no rule! Have fun, don't hesitate to create, create, create.

The first thing I thought when I saw Skinny is, what a great gift for my bauble-loving friends. Its pieces are affordable ($20 to $60) and colorful. The brand's website defines Skinny as knowledge, keen insight, on top of the in and out. Get the Skinny by investing in super cute rings with crystals, bracelets with glass beads, hammered earrings, and locket necklaces. The piece I want for myself is this Pewter Swirl Ring ($30). It's so sci-fi chic, non? It would look great with some galactic shimmer.

Sienna Miller made my Summer. Besides all her unique G.I. Joe premiere outfits, she's been jazzing up the streets in her Rupert Sanderson Joyce Oxfords (approximately $487). At a Broadway photo call in NYC, the actress wore a fresh blue and white striped tee, black leggings, and a black boyfriend blazer. The outfit needed a hint of color and the red beaded necklace did the trick.
