Who is this matron and what has she done with the sassy Mischa Barton? I've always known that Mischa is capable of making fashion faux pas, but this is pure insanity! At the Closing the Ring UK premiere, it appears the actress is having an identity crisis.

The only thing I applaud Mischa for are her studded, Louboutin Mary Janes. Other than that, I'd save the bow-tie blouse for a luncheon and the poofy black-taffeta skirt for a Halloween costume. She should have simply chosen a more age-appropriate dress. Perhaps she can take some pointers from her former O.C. co-star Rachel Bilson.

Last week I showed you a debatable bow tie blouse, and I'm still on the fence about this style in general. Maybe you can all convince me to love bow tie blouses. They are definitely in masculine-feminine turf, and I love a perfect bow now and again, but something about them makes me feel...claustrophobic. I dunno. Trend Alert: Ribbons and Bows

Here's a trend that's easy to tie on: Luscious ribbons in rich colors and materials, fashioned into big, graceful bows. Girly lace and ribbon accents are huge this fall, and now bows are showing up on everything from dresses to tops to shoes and purses. It's a great look for pretty dinner parties and holiday gatherings and an easy way to dress up an otherwise simple look. Here's a look at some of our favorite finds.

Tie a thick satin sash around your waist with jeans and a girly blouse.
Weave a ribbon into a long chain necklace and tie a bow at the bottom.
Tie an embroidered ribbon around your neck and wear it as a choker, or tie a bow on your wrist as a bracelet.

It's always a pleasure seeing the impeccable Diane Kruger. The last time we featured her was way too long ago at New York Fashion Week. Thankfully, the actress turned up to the Ray-Ban party last night to celebrate the newest Clubmaster shades. She rocked the red carpet in her Chanel Resort '09 black and ivory tuxedo jumpsuit and Christian Louboutin Mary Janes. While finding a similar jumpsuit is unlikely, re-creating this look is a cinch. All you need are black satin pants, an ivory blouse, and a bow tie. Voila.

Dress Me Up: Resort Lady With a Tramp

Bow-tie blouses aren't groundbreaking, but I've noticed a resurgence of them lately, particularly in 2009 Resort. As always, they're super ladylike, but now they're mating with oversized sequins, hip-hugging skirts, statement shoes, and rounded aviator sunnies. In other words, they've gotten a injection of cool.

This look from Bill Blass's Resort collection exudes this polished-cum-powerful vibe, complete with eye-catching Manolo Blahnik sandals. Make no mistake; this resort lady is no tramp but sure knows how to tramp all over you!

San Francisco Fashion Week: Emily Jane

Texas-born designer Emily Jane showed on the first day of San Francisco Fashion Week and she instantly caught my eye with her fem/mas designs. What was interesting about her collection is that despite the masculine details (tuxedo-inspired blouses and bow ties), it retained an air of girliness and elegance.

Some taffeta dresses were bridesmaid-y, but on the flip side, belted silk frocks could pass for red-carpet looks. Lace skirts, ruffle blouses, polka dots, belts and high-waisted pencil skirts also made cameos.

These are special pieces, perfect for a special event! The looks that would make me feel the most Fab are the polka dot ruffle top paired with the black high-waisted pencil skirt and the black silk sleeveless turtleneck mini dress.

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2007: 3.1 Phillip Lim

What began as a somewhat drab, menswear inspired collection, 3.1 Phillip Lim had me smiling by the end of the show. What looked like extras out of Gangs of New York, models donned loose fitting trousers, shorts, tie neck blouses, and plaids. Neutrals, greys and blacks told a very downtown story. Bow ties, suspenders and fingerless gloves added a dose of poor boy chic.

Enter the feminine Phillip Lim girls in chili pepper and turquoise frocks, worn underneath expertly tailored double breasted coats. Loose layers and sheer fabrics penetrate the earlier masculine air. Two black leather jackets shine - one in soft buttery leather, one in patent leather. An optical red dot print emerges, almost out of nowhere, and brings a graphic element into the mix. Perhaps the most impressive part about this collection is these pieces will be half the price of the other designers' pieces we're seeing - something to look forward to.
