Behind the Seams: Fergie's Shoe Debut in Vegas

Fergie's bag collection with Kipling has been well underway. Now, the blossoming star and fashion designer is giving another favorite accessory a go. Yesterday - in a Dolce & Gabbana sheath - she unveiled a shoe collection with Brown Shoe in Las Vegas at the WSA Show.

From what I can see, styles range from sassy and colorful platforms, cool gladiators, exotic sandals, and sporty kicks. Looks like Fergie took a survey of her shoe collection and applied it here. Fergie sat front and center at the mini-runway show and everyone looked pleased - especially her.

As the style-setter put it, "I have always loved fashion because it's a great way to express your mood. And I'm definitely a shoe lover. The right pair of shoes can change the feel of an outfit, and even change how a woman feels about herself. A woman can wear confidence on her feet with a high stiletto, or slip into weekend comfort with a soft ballet flat."

Amen to that. Fergie's shoes will debut in Spring '09 - are you looking forward to wearing some Fergalicous pumps?

If I were to wear a scarlet letter it would be T.

T for tardy. T for turd ball. T for totally inept mother.

We are late for school with such alarming regularity it’s embarrassing. The last time we were on time, after a mini snowstorm that excited my children enough to urge them into their snowsuits and outside at 6:30 a.m., we got to school five minutes early to find it dark and empty. Delayed opening. I was apparently the only mother who didn’t get the memo.

Calling Charlie Brown…

Being late for school brings up a vicious brew of conflicting emotion in me. On the one hand I just don’t care. Life is short. Far too short to risk traumatizing your children with a bullwhip and terrorizing morning walkers and squirrels, not to mention my own white-knuckled children, speeding our way to school like Toad on a motorcar bender each weekday morning.

On the other hand I am ashamed, deeply embarrassed, to be “that mom.” All the other moms can do it, even the single ones. Why. Can’t. I? What’s wrong with me?

I complained about this once to a woman from South Carolina who I met on my Guatemala trip and she told me her school started at 7:30. She also made it clear her kids were never late.

Never late.

My style tends to sway a bit dressier than most; colorful button-downs and blazers are my typical go-to - and you will rarely catch me in jeans. Since it never really gets that cold in LA, I'm on the hunt for a buttery brown leather skirt, a cozy lightweight knit, and a festive cocktail dress to get me through the holiday season. Frye Spotted in NYC

We hit the streets of the Union Square farmers market and the corner of 59th and Fifth by Central Park on a quest to style uniquely dressed New Yorkers in some of our favorite Frye shoes from the new collection. Curious and intrigued, tourists, locals, and effortlessly chic passersby popped into the Frye Spotted style station to re-create Frye's classic yet rugged ambiance.

Spotted in Union Square, a rocker-inspired gal in a black and brown leather bomber was styled in the Dorado Lug Riding Boot, adding a structured piece to her laissez-faire look. A young, and in-love, couple was spotted on Fifth. She, in teeny, gray skinny jeans, slipped gracefully into the Naiya Kiltie Oxford while her Italian stallion fiancé matched his leather to the Dakota Plain Toe. Christian Cota just launched a limited-edition boot collection for Aldo, showing off gorgeous mountain- and hiking-inspired pieces that will surely add that perfect rustic, yet luxe, touch to your Fall ensembles. "I really wanted to bring in all of the utilitarian elements, like the shin guards that can actually come on and off," said Cota. "I also wanted the color to be really rich, like this crimson. There was also a Tibetan influence as well. . . . It's the first time I decided to show very little stilettos [in my Fall runway show]. Christian Cota: It's all about how a woman feels when she wears the shoe. With the flats boots I designed, the models who wore them on the runway had a cooler confidence; they walked stronger and sexier. This season, sexy is about strength and toughness.

FS: Do you have a favorite style?
CC: I love the red [Laremont] pair, because it really catches my attention.

FS: What are three shoe styles every woman must own?
CC: A great pair of classic pumps, flat boots, and a really crazy pair of fashion-forward shoes, like ones with heavily constructed details, interesting materials, or amazing heels.

Nike Set to Release Marty McFly's Self-Tying Shoes?

I've pretty much waited my entire adult life for this moment: Nike may be set to release Marty McFly's sneakers, the Air Mags, from Back to the Future 2 after patenting the self-tying laces last year. A new video has surfaced (uploaded from DocEmmettBrown88, no less) of "McFly's Closet," which shows rows upon rows of the futuristic shoes.

Additionally, Nike has scheduled a press conference for tomorrow in LA, which only makes me more anxious to see what the company has up its sleeve. Hold your collective breath for tomorrow's press conference, but in the meantime, check out the video below the break.

And, honestly, I only remember feeling extremely resentful that I had to get dressed for school while, in Mister Rogers's universe, he was returning home from work to play.
