Marc Jacobs and Japanese artist Takashi Murakami are at it again. They have recently collaborated on a monogramouflage collection, which is pretty self explanatory. This Louis Vuitton Monogramouflage Jasmine Bag ($1,770) is an offspring from the partnership. This bag is simply too macho for my taste. Do you love it or hate it?

Manolo Blahnik Campari Suede Mary Jane: Love It or Hate It?

Is it just me, or is this Manolo Blahnik Campari Suede Mary Jane ($555), G.I. Jane gone wrong? Even though Marc Jacobs claims camouflage is a forever icon, sometimes you just have to say no. I'm all for the occasional patriotic print, but Mary Janes?! I think camo is best worn casual, not dressy. I could only see SJP pulling these off - not me.

Manolo Blahnik Camouflage Pump: Love It or Hate It?

On paper, this shoe sounds like an utter disaster: a camouflage print on satiny fabric, adorned with rhinestone buckles and fashioned into a four-inch pump. If someone had described this shoe to me before I had seen it, I would have anticipated wretched ugliness. And yet for some reason I can't help but love this Manolo Blahnik Jeweled D'Orsay Pump, available for $645 here. I love the way the elegant silhouette and the jeweled detailing on the vamp contrasts with the camo pattern for a very funky look. However, this is definitely a bold shoe that I can see many people disliking, so tell me whether you love it or hate it!

2010 Paris Fashion Week: Isabel Marant

Isabel Marant - a Fab obsession - opted for more detail, more color, and more leg for Spring. Per usual, I adore everything, minus the camouflage boots. Marant delivered an eclectic chic mix of frilly skirts and dresses, sumptuous tweed, cool prints, girlie ruffles, city shorts, hot hot pink, and sweet turquoise. Railroad denim is redone: teeny short shorts, patchwork miniskirts, and cutoff jeans. Khaki jackets and vests are far from preppy in silky fabrics and utilitarian styles.Pants are either laid-back loose or sexy tight, shown in silky black, Carmen Kass multicolored stripes, hot pink, and cool gray; this pictured pair of laced up black pants are a new classic, totally unique. The mix is emphasized by diverse details: feathered earrings, silver chain necklaces, dark metal bracelets, a mix of belts, and a knockout fringed and studded boot. Are you obsessed with Isabel, too? She's Crafty: New Buttons, New Jacket

What to do when you have an old jacket that is still Fab, but has gone drab? No need to be dramatic and rid of it, just take another look and see how it can be revived. This was what I did with a 5-year-old DKNY olive green jacket. When I first got it, I wore it to death. Ever since, it has just sat in my closet, with old memories to keep it company. The reason I loved it so was because I realized an olive green jacket pretty much goes with everything. It can be utilitarian, sporty, chic, or just plain casual. The neutral hue works for both Summer and Winter, and it doesn't go out of style.

I knew my old faithful could be revived. What I love most about this jacket is these complex seams along the back and shoulders - I would never tire of those. So I started with the sleeves, and simply rolled them up, for a more distressed style. What really stood out as an eye sore was the drab buttons; these pale green medium sized buttons just camouflaged with the fabric. I thought if I simply changed the buttons - something even I know how to do - the jacket would be refreshed.

The jacket has a slight safari feel, so I immediately thought tortoise buttons would be perfect. I adore the marbleized design of tortoise, and, like the jacket, I find it goes with a lot of colors and styles. This decision was made even before I got to the fabric store.
Britex Fabrics in San Francisco is awesome. They had oodles of tortoise buttons to choose from; it was not an easy choice. I ended up choosing a nice flat tortoise button. The grand total ended up being less than $10. But I was sure to bring the jacket with me, so the salesperson could see what size button I was looking for and so I could imagine the new look. Also, the jacket has four buttons, but I bought one extra in case my sewing skills ever fail me.

Thread. I needed an olive green that would match the jacket. After a quick visit to my parents house - my mom used to sew so she has like every color - I found the perfect little spool of olive green. I was almost ready to take on my project.
Tools. The only tools I needed were a needle and a seam ripper. If you don't already have a seam ripper, I suggest you get one. They come in handy for projects like this, sewing mishaps, and opening closed pockets.
Labor. One evening I went to work and surprisingly the jacket button switcharoo only took a half hour. It was easy to align the new buttons because there were already holes in place. I just started at the top, removed the old button and any residual thread, and sewed on the new button. You can really see the difference the button makeover made! New buttons, new jacket.

In times of a fashion recession, and with the holidays right around the corner, I know the financial bind many of you are in. By simply rejuvenating something you once loved, you can have a (semi) new piece of clothing. Never underestimate the big power of the little button.

Broad Shoulders: While adding a pop of color, bright, wide banded bottoms will also balance and detract attention to shoulders. Avoid creating a v-neck silhouette by opting for a square neck top.
Athletic Shape: Show off a boyish figure in a halter top with feminine detailing. Prints, ruffles and side ties will add some girly curves and avoid wearing plain and solid suits.
Tummy Conscious: Tankinis and retro swimsuits can work wonders for the tummy conscious. Both styles conceal the tummy area and are fashionably cute. Stay away from solid colors and tiny bikinis.
Wide Hips: Darker bottoms paired with lighter bikini tops will detract attention from the lower half of the body. Make sure to buy a close fitting bottom to avoid adding unwanted volume to the hip area.

2008 BET Awards: Jennifer Hudson

The 2008 BET Awards have arrived! And with it, red carpet eye candy. First up is Jennifer Hudson, who opted for a strapless, bronze Peter Soronen dress that hugs her every curve. The piping detail is cool but I'm not loving this color on her. Instead of making her pop, it makes her camouflage. Do you love it or hate it?

This Week's Fab Favorite: M.I.A

Oodles of celebrities looked pretty this week, but M.I.A had the whole world in her hands. She is downright funky, and talented, but we rarely see the British performer dressed up. Such was the dress code for MoMA's 40th Annual Party in the Garden in New York and the lassie's iridescent sequin cut-out dress was truly unique. She toned it down with neutral suede peep-toe pumps but she also had a statement accessory: a globe purse. If you look close, she also has neon polished toes and fingers and green eyeliner on, staying true to her street style. Her dangly gold earrings camouflaged with her natural waves; a nice touch. This dress looks vintage but maybe it's by her friend Marc Jacobs - remember she posed in his Marc by Marc ads this Spring. M.I.A also performed at the event but her party ensemble was the winner.
