2010 Spring: Calvin Klein, CK Jeans, and CK Underwear

Clean. Precise. Minimal. Three terms Calvin Klein wants you to use when describing its Spring '10 collection. Staying true to the house's less-is-more aesthetic, Francisco Costa has delivered a line of basics with a sexy utilitarian nature. You'll find organic fabrics and most colors of the rainbow: sand, white, and khaki as staples, canary, melon, poppy, fuchsia, turquoise, and cobalt as accents. Drawstring cargos, denim vests, fitted blazers, parkas, denim judo pants, and shirt dresses are all solid. But one print piece stands out as the cool black sheep: a black-and-white, tie-dye dress that's feminine and bold.

Swimsuits are also part of the Spring family - a two-piece in warm gray and a one piece in solid gray or gray Bengal print. The handbags are equally minimal; hobos, totes, and rounded clutches are smooth and unstructured, with gold and silver hardware. Wooden-stacked heels and flat sandals are au naturel and sporty.

During my runway research I accumulated some more favorite looks, stand-out pieces, awe-inspiring jewels, and simply cool honorable mentions. Thakoon's canary fur-collared coat atop luxe black separates is what fashion dreams are made of. Beam me up, Scotty!

Sneak Peek! J.Crew Collection, Summer '09

J.Crew's Collection clothes are a step up from their usual feminine fodder. Luxurious fabrics and fine details make for a plush lineup. If things are overly frilly for you, at least revel in the keen styling. Brown belts softly break things up, jewelry is piled on haphazardly, cardigans are thrown over just so. Colors are sticky sweet: canary yellow, bougainvillea pink, misty gray, frothy cream. I've got my sights set on this ikat halter dress. Who would think to wear a sporty anorak over it? That would be the work of Ms. Jenna Lyons. Well played.

2009 Fall Paris Fashion Week: Louis Vuitton

As Paris Fashion Week bids us adieu, Marc Jacobs fashioned a feast of a finale. With an eclectic mix of baroque, volume, and - you guessed it - the '80s, Fall's Vuitton babe is divinely decked. This collection was not shy on color; crimson, canary yellow, salmon, and emerald created a robust palette, while nude and black balanced. Splattered and cosmic prints also tickled the eyes. Volume, i.e. folds, curves, loops, were festooned asymmetrically and in opposing colors creating flirtatious dimension.

This was mostly a runway of legs, as skirts and dresses reigned; however, boots were ultra thigh-high, creating the illusion of pants. The comic touch this time around was crinkled bunny ears fastened onto delicious Bardot chignons. In keeping with the French splendor of the house, where drama roams free, this was another high-inducing collection by monsieur Jacobs.

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Jenni Kayne

Oh my gosh, I almost missed Jenni Kayne's Spring '09 presentation - one of my favorites. I totally got lost in the West Village and man, was it hot outside. Alas, I found salvation on Jane Street and on stark white mannequins. While I do think models wear clothes better than mannequins, Kayne continues to impress with her minimal, subtly detailed cool girl clothes. We can cut her some slack - she is expecting a baby Kayne after all.

Favorites were the maxi length skirts (ode to the canary yellow one) and dresses, a gold paillette skirt paired with a blue button down shirt and a stone canvas box blazer and short suit. Simple shapes juxtaposed with bursts of print and color here and there, were quintessential Kane. Her gowns were noteworthy; one stand out was deco-esque with a dramatic drapes on the sides.

Primetime Emmy Awards: Jewel Tones

Canary diamond, ruby, sapphire, and amethyst all showed up on the red carpet tonight, but not just in jewelry form! These ladies accessorized their ice with bold, jewel-toned gowns: Felicity Huffman and Julie Louis-Dreyfus went with a lovely shade of purple, while Portia, Ellen, and America chose hues of blues. Ali Larter looked fantastic in ruby red and Minnie Driver pulled off canary diamond perfectly. Bold, beautiful jewel tones all around!

This scent must be modeled after its maker, Kimora Lee Simmons; it's glamorous, golden and is adorned with lots of bling! It evokes feelings of champagne wishes and caviar dreams.

The smell is derived from top notes of actual champagne, seringa, blue lilies, night orchid, chocolate and caramel gourmand, vanilla flower patchouli and vetiver. It has a moderate scent strength and should stay on anywhere from six to ten hours.

The faceted bottle was inspired by Kimora's adoration of the rare and prized canary-yellow diamond. It even comes with a faux canary-yellow diamond ring that is atop the neck of the bottle...how fun! It is also available in a shimmering body lotion for $45.
