While the People's Choice Awards may have been privy to the technicolor invasion, we were flush with bright pastels at tonight's Critics' Choice Awards. Hollywood's leading ladies opted for candy-colored hues, which made for a playfully fun and whimsical red-carpet rundown. Elizabeth Olsen radiated in a sunshine-yellow beaded Pucci minidress and nude peep-toes; Diane Kruger flawlessly executed a bright mixture of grays and canary yellows in a floor-length Prada creation and added a hot-pink clutch as the cherry on top; and Jessica Chastain went soft and pretty with a cotton-candy-pink Balenciaga gown. These bright pastels allow for streamlined accessories, fresh-faced makeup, and, of course, killer shoes; and because of its styling simplicity, we think this is just the beginning of this Spring-inspired color scheme's appeal. Jennifer Aniston made a special appearance last night to honor to pal Chelsea Handler at the Glamour Women of the Year gala held at NYC's Carnegie Hall. Her man Justin Theroux, who looked hot in a tux, snuck into the crowd to hear her speak about her "love" Chelsea, who went on to thank the important ladies in her own life. Chelsea joked that her "Queen of the Night" honor was dedicated to her friends, saying, "I love being a good friend, and a good sister, because I'll never be a mother!" There were more hilarious handouts in store during the presentation, with Donatella Versace talking about her and Jennifer Lopez's canary diamond rivalry before presenting the American Idol judge with the "all-star" honor. Jennifer was in a hot Versace dress to thank the females in her life for supporting her during the "ups, and not so ups" of the last year.

Other honorees included "Fashion Force" Tory Burch, who posed backstage with Jessica Alba and Kerry Washington. "Diva Next Door" Lea Michele shared humble words after taking a red statue from pal Jonathan Groff. Condoleezza Rice introduced "Generations Award" winners Laura Bush, Jenna Bush Hager, and Barbara Bush, while "The Visionary" distinction went to Arianna Huffington. Gloria Steinem spoke inspiration words in her "The Woman Who Started It All" speech, and art-world superstar Cindy Sheman accepted her statue from friend and collaborate Marc Jacobs. Special distinctions went to sex trafficking advocate "T" Ortiz-Macey, as well as Egyptian political activist Esraa Abdel Fattah. And finally, Emma Stone made a low key cameo to introduce 21 young women around her own age who are changing their own communities. Was this Marc Jacobs's last collection for Louis Vuitton? If so, it was a gorgeous outing, as innocent and light as last season was naughty and rich. Models came off a white carousel, walking in sweet outfits as if every day were just another walk in the park. Oversized, embroidered eyelet took center stage, on dresses, adorning shirt collars, underneath layers of sheer organza on a skirt. Even the introduction of leather biker jackets couldn't cut the sugar, done as they were in canary yellow or baby blue, and paired with eyelet blouses and skirts. It was an idyllic setting, ultra feminine and ladylike, with nary a trace of Fall's fetishist theme. The icing on the cake? Kate Moss closing in a white babydoll dress that was covered in wispy feathers, looking innocent as can be.

Derek Lam was California dreamin' for his Spring 2012 collection, invoking "mid-century louche and luxury," according to show notes. Think Palm Springs, Frank Sinatra, and Angie Dickinson by the pool, and you have the inspiration for Lam's upbeat collection that still carried his signature clean lines and classic silhouettes. '60s geometric prints enlivened pencil skirts, and colors like canary yellow and coral were mixed into fitted knits and one beautifully flowing jumpsuit. For evening, there were beaded tile dresses in loose, flowy silhouettes, perfect for cocktail hour and dancing under the stars.
