I love how Lanvin has been rolling out these cartoon drawings lately - they're really cute - and the latest edition is this Lanvin Papillote Shopper ($925). But I never thought I'd see such an expensive canvas grocery tote. Would you go for it?

Over the Anya Hindmarch "I'm Not a Plastic Bag" Tote, but not over the PC notion of using a canvas tote to carry groceries? The "Jacobs by Marc Jacobs for Marc by Marc Jacobs" canvas tote is a very stylish and viable option at only $12! Plus, it has a sense of irony: Marc pokes fun at himself and all the other designers who plaster their names all over everything. That's my boy.

Simply Fab: Karl and Marc Canvas Totes

The canvas tote continues to evolve. It took off with Anya Hindmarch's I'm Not a Plastic Bag - remember the frenzy? - and has since taken all sorts of designs and personalities. The latest, and arguably coolest, are these Pattern People Karl and Marc Canvas Totes ($45 each). I mean walking alongside the real Karl and Marc would be way more entertaining, but their cartoon versions are second best. I'm all team Karl; Imagine walking into a supermarket with the Kaiser by your side.

It amazes me how Marc Jacobs can churn out some absolutely loveable things, and some absolutely hateable things. The designer definitely has a sense of humor, though I feel only a small percentage of the fashion population really gets it. Take this Marc by Marc Jacobs Miss Marc Canvas Tote, $268, for example. I really like the canvas with leather trim and shape of the bag but Miss Marc is a bit too, well, weird. And I like weird, just not on my handbag. This character reminds me of the freaky little girl from The Ring. What do you all think? Love or hate little Miss Marc?

It may be poking fun at the fact that exorbitantly expensive It bags are over, but this Longchamp "It Bag" Vertical Tote ($340) has stolen my heart. Could it be because it has French writing on it? Maybe. But mostly it's because it talks cheeky and looks chic without costing a fortune. Plus, it's canvas, thus super relevant to the times. I could see this bag meshing at the supermarket as well as at trendy soirees.

What a funny looking little tote. This tote reminds me of that famous line from Clueless where the redhead just got a nose job and she says, "Excuse me, but my plastic surgeon requested that I refrain from any activity that involves balls flying in my face" and the fab Dionne responds: "Well there goes your social life."
