Let's play first lady of France dressup. Carla looks every bit the part after a visit to the Met in New York — Bentley in tow. I wish I could browse endless walls of art wearing an origami folded neck skirt suit, Tod's flats, and a perfect little Dior bag.

You've probably noticed she's switched out her platforms for flats; but that doesn't mean Carla's compromised her style. This First Lady of France has an elegance and grace that demands attention, even from the Queen herself!

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has the pick of the litter when it comes to wearing sumptuous designer creations but her selection might be a little more limited now that she's vowed to be more animal friendly. "I do not wear, buy, or own fur or animal skin other than leather or skin of animals raised for feeding purposes. I am not a vegetarian and I don't find it illogical to wear skins of animals whose meat is also eaten."

While some casual looks made the cut, this week's celebrities were mostly dressed up. But I'm not talking red carpet looks. Between skirt suits, pencil skirts, and sheath dresses, there was enough polish to tidy up the streets.

Vanity Fair's 2009 International Best-Dressed list has been released, and it includes actors, models, designers, politicians, royalty, and socialites. The ones who made the cut need not have one particular fashion forte — they only need perennial style. Representing Hollywood are red-carpet queens Penelope Cruz, Anne Hathaway, Reneé Zellweger, Kelly Ripa, and Alicia Keys.
