Halloween Costume Idea: Catwoman

The costume: Catwoman
Batman's sexy nemesis/paramour has been a sexy costume staple since the 1960s (when the lovely Eartha Kitt played her on TV), and she shows no signs of fading away. Plus, as long as you have an all-black outfit, cat ears, and a mask, she's a really easy character to put together. Do it this year, before everyone copies Anne Hathaway's Catwoman from next year's The Dark Knight Rises.

Hair and makeup: Black kitty cat ears, of course, and a black mask, with plenty of red lipstick and black eye shadow. Also, sexy hair is a must, preferably curls or big retro volume.

What to wear: Black leggings, black gloves, black boots, and a tight black motorcycle jacket or long-sleeved top.

Take it to the next level: Add Catwoman's "claws" by gluing or pressing on some super-long acrylic tips. You can even paint them red for extra feline flair.

Female Comic Book Characters in Film: Did Hollywood Get It Right?

There's a lot to look forward to if you're a fan of female comic book heroes and villains: the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, X-Men First Class, and Wonder Woman all feature prominent female leads! But, like most comic book fans, you probably have your own idea of who is best suited to play the role. I can already tell you that I am not thrilled with Anne Hathaway being cast as Catwoman. Do you think Hollywood got it right? Take a look at these upcoming female comic book leads and then vote on who makes the most sense.

Who Needs Nails When You Have Catwoman Claws?

As a tiny one, my little sister was fascinated by the comic book doings of one Selina Kyle, better known as Catwoman. If she ever starts nibbling her nails again, I think I may direct her to this DC Comics Catwoman Short Claw ($150). It may technically be jewelry, but it's really more the fanciest feline fingertip replacement out there and deserves to be recognized as such. Just think, for a mere $1,500, you could be menacing everyone around you with 10 digits worth of these, and you'd never have to worry about how your polish looked again. On the other hand, I guess it might be really, really difficult to do boring, normal things like use your keys, open jars, etc. Who really cares, though? You'll be too busy burgling and wearing knee-high boots to even notice.

Fab Flash: Superheroes at the 2008 Costume Institute Exhibit

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has chosen "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy" as the theme of its Spring exhibit. The museum plans to explore the superhero's iconic costume of cape, mask, and bodysuit as it has appeared in fashion. The exhibit, which is co-chaired by Giorgio Armani, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour, will run from May 7 to September 1, and the accompanying gala, known as the Oscars of the fashion industry, will be hosted on May 5.

Approximately 70 ensembles will be featured, from high-performance sportswear and iconic movie costumes to avant-garde couture looks spanning the decades, all inspired by Catwoman, Wonder Woman, the X-Men, and more. Designers represented include everyone from Balenciaga, Armani, and Alexander McQueen to Jeremy Scott, Pierre Cardin, and Nike.

Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman stuck together on their way out of Greenblatt's Deli in Beverly Hills last night. The couple grabbed a bite to eat after recently arriving in LA from the East Coast. They attended Meryl Streep's Iron Lady premiere in the Big Apple, and also stepped out for the Kennedy Center Honors in DC. Anne and Adam's red carpet activities were just the latest public outings for the couple, who announced that they were engaged last month. Anne's diamond ring has been on display ever since, though she's without the sparkly accessory in the new trailer for The Dark Night Rises. Anne's in character as Catwoman alongside leading man Christian Bale in the dramatic teaser, which is the first before the film's release next Summer. The action movie is sure to be a hit in 2012, but before welcoming the new year, we're taking a look back at the biggest headlines of 2011 and we need your help choosing the hottest!

The Full Trailer For The Dark Knight Rises Will Give You Chills

The teaser for The Dark Knight Rises was a fun little preview of the final film in Christopher Nolan's Batman franchise, but the full trailer is the one that will send shivers down your spine. Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) is featured a little, but this preview mostly focuses on the villains: Tom Hardy as Bane and Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. I'm already loving Hathaway as an evil-doer, who hints that her motives lie in her desire to bring down the city's wealthy elite (Occupy Gotham, anyone?).

There's so much happening that the trailer barely has time to fit it all in, which means we only see brief glimpses of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard. That said, the special effects already look dazzling (including an eye-popping scene of a football field caving in), and that creepy chanting we've been hearing for months still makes my skin crawl. It's not every day you see Batman and Catwoman having a laugh together, but that's exactly what happened on the set of The Dark Knight Rises over the weekend. Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway gave us yet another peek at their costumes, but it's definitely the cat suit that's getting this most attention here. We've already seen Anne Hathaway riding the Bat pod, but now she's got a different set of eyewear and a sexy skintight suit. It looks more like Batman's suit than what we've seen from other big-screen versions of the character, but personally I'm glad that director Christopher Nolan left the shiny vinyl at home.
