This week why not plan a cocktail party for you and your friends? The perfect event where ready made meets homemade, a quick, easy holiday themed get together can be thrown any night of the week. For all of the details (invite ideas, serving suggestions, decorations schemes, musical playlists, divine drinks) on how to host this party, see below.

Invites: Make simple invites by cutting out the shape of an ornament (or use this template) on metallic card stock or colored wrapping paper. Write out the super important details of your party-date, time, location, formality-on the back. Slide into an envelope and send. Too busy to send out formal invites? Decided you want to throw this party in three hours? Have no fear: write a text-invitation and send it to all of your friends.

Menu: Don't worry even if you aren't a kitchen goddess, you can still host a fabulous cocktail party by using mostly store bought items. Make one simple yet super tasty tiny bite or decadent dip and assemble the rest of your menu. Assemble a cheese platter: purchase one each of your favorite types of hard, semi soft, and soft cheese. Plate with crackers, baguette toasts, grapes, and bread sticks. Lay out slices of salami, prosciutto, and honeyed turkey on another plate. Fill bowls with mixed nuts, olives, and pretzels. For a sweet treat purchase Christmas themed cookies from your local bakery. Or fill silver bowls with red and green M&Ms, Hershey kisses, and candy canes.

Decorations: Decorations are a no brainer! If you are anything like me your house will be merrily decorated for the Christmas holidays. With that said here's your decorating checklist: Plug in the Christmas tree lights. Check. Light some candles. Check. Make a fire in the fireplace. Check. Decorations? Done.

Music: Seriously girlies this party could not get any easier because everything is already done for you. Put your most played Christmas Cds (my picks: Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, the Beach Boys, and The Carpenters) on random and hit play.

Drinks: For a pro-hostess tip from the party master, don't offer an open bar. You will not enjoy your party. Instead make a big bowl of egg nog or cranberry Christmas punch. Offer beer, wine, and champagne for those who prefer something other than hard alcohol. For a nonalcoholic option serve a chilled apple cider and sparkling water flavored with orange and vanilla bean.

Simply Fab: Designers Dress Christmas Trees For Charity

Clothes might be their forte, but that won't stop fashion designers from trying their hands at designing Christmas trees for charity. The results - as you see from Louis Vuitton's golden delight below - were fabulous. The Christmas trees, which included designs from Zaha Hadid, Louis Vuitton, Miguel Adrover, and Jean Paul Gaultier, went up for auction at Paris's architecture museum last week. These aren't your average run-of-the-mill holiday trees. The designers went all out for their charity contribution and created magnificent marvels. It was well worth the effort; Zaha Hadid’s tree structure reportedly sold for over $61,000!

Set your alarms, ladies, the Kate Moss For Topshop Christimas '09 Collection drops in stores and online tomorrow. The Super models what you have to look forward to: sexy, moody frocks, airy blouses, lots of sheerness, sequins, and belts. Oh, and the debut nightwear collection, which she plans on wearing out. "I might wear some of the PJ tops out as a layer, instead of a shirt, but probably not as a set." I think I'll take Kate's lead and wear some of the nighties for a night out.

The current economic crisis seems to have no impact on Neiman Marcus. The luxury retailer has released its annual Christmas book, and it's chock full of extravagant gifts. Edible 23-karat gold powder, BMWs, Cartier jewelry - the list goes on and on. We surely can't afford such decadence, but there's no harm in dreaming, right?

The catalog boasts an abundance of lavish gifts for everyone in your life. Cowboys fan? Neiman has your man covered with its $500,000 roll of synthetic turf cut from the Dallas Cowboys’ end zone at Texas Stadium. And for all the ladies, how about owning a piece of history with a 16th-century tourmaline and gold ring for $45,000? More high-end items include his and hers life-size Lego statues by Nathan Sawaya sold at a mere $60,000; a $1.3 million wedding at the Resort at Pelican Hills in Newport Beach, CA; a $1 million backyard golf course by Jack Nicklaus; and a chance to play a game with the Harlem Globetrotters for $110,000. Neiman's Cheap(er) Christmas Book

Neiman Marcus is scaling down the crazy price points in its famous Christmas Book in lieu of the dismal economy, but don't expect to find bargain basement deals. Instead, the luxury retailer has priced 40 percent of the 400 items featured at under $250. The selection of fantasy gifts are also said to to a lot cheaper than last year's selection.

“Our belief is that even in financially challenging times there is a place for fantasy, especially during the holiday season,” said Gerald Barnes, of NM Direct. And that they did offering up a Cupcake Car ($25,000), Mission One Electric Motorcycle ($73,00), and dinner for two with eight prominent authors, including Malcolm Gladwell, Henry Louis Gates Jr. and George Stephanopoulos ($200,000). Pretty cool, but I would be happy enough receiving an amazing pair of shoes or bag . . .

On Our Radar: Christmas Stockings by Top Designers

How cool would it be to get a Christmas stocking created by either Vera Wang, Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Tuleh, Rodarte, or the boys from Heatherette? Well, starting Wednesday, December 19 at 6 p.m. PST, cool can become a reality. WWD has asked these top designers to create and stuff one-of-a-kind Christmas stockings for charity.

All of the proceeds from the five-day eBay auction will benefit Citymeals-On-Wheels, an organization that provides nutritious food and human company to homebound elderly New Yorkers in need. Some of the goodies to look forward to are a Marc Jacobs ribbon watch, Broadway tickets, a Tuleh ostrich clutch and a Heatherette tank top.
