Eva Mendes on Feeling "Creatively Satisfied" With Ryan Gosling, Her Insecurities, and More in Marie Claire

Eva Mendes looks glamorous in a jeweled top on the cover of Marie Claire's March issue. The actress has been busy with multiple projects, including Girl in Progress, which hits theaters in April, and Holly Motors, though much of her headline making is due to boyfriend Ryan Gosling. The duo worked together on The Place Beyond the Pines last year and have been spotted sharing romantic dates in Paris, Disneyland, and around LA since. Eva touched on working with Ryan, her own insecurities, and how she gets her glowing skin. Here's more from Eva Mendes in Marie Claire:

On working with Ryan Gosling: "He’s your dream costar. I have never felt so creatively satisfied on a film."
On her diet and workout routine: "I run four to five times a week, mixing it up among distance running, intervals on a track, and running uphill on a treadmill. I don't eat meat and stopped eating chicken - my skin has gotten a lot better."
On her body image: "What I tell girls is what they don’t like about themselves now, they will probably end up loving as an adult, because that’s what happened to me. When I am complimented on things that I didn’t like when I was 13, like my overbite and my mole, that’s when you realize that your imperfections are why people love you."

Eva Mendes Visits Ryan Gosling on Set in Thailand

Ryan Gosling has been in Thailand for the past few weeks working on Only God Forgives, and his girlfriend, Eva Mendes, flew over this week for a visit. He was spotted continuing his martial arts training at a gym on Monday, and Eva ventured out solo to get a snack yesterday. Eva has been in LA focusing on her own movie-making during the last month, but made time to keep an eye on Ryan's beloved dog George. Ryan's project sees him pairing up yet again with his Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn. Their shooting schedule means Ryan's been missing out on award season back in LA. Ryan was up for numerous awards for his acting in both Drive and George Clooney's The Ides of March, but he unfortunately missed out on nabbing a coveted nod from the Academy.

Ryan and Eva met last Summer on the set for another film, The Place Beyond the Pines. In the March issue of Marie Claire, Eva spoke for the first time about shooting alongside Ryan. She said, "He’s your dream costar. I have never felt so creatively satisfied on a film."

Claire Danes Gets Silly to Celebrate Her Hasty Pudding Honor

Claire Danes was the center of attention as she picked up Harvard's Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year award in Cambridge, MA, yesterday. As the 2012 Woman of the Year, she was honored with a wild parade and a roast by members of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals. Jason Segel was named Man of the Year by the organization, and will get his celebration on Feb. 3. It was just the latest statue for Claire since she already picked up a Golden Globe for her work in Homeland.

She's not up for a SAG award at this weekend's show, but there is sure to be plenty of other hot stars on the red carpet. Claire Danes Hits The Globes Press Room to Talk Patriotism and Becoming Carrie on Homeland

Homeland is already having quite a night at the Golden Globes! The show took home best dramatic series, and when the cast stepped back to the press room, the creators revealed a little about what we can expect in season two, saying, "Don’t expect next season to start where this one left off. The Brody-Carrie relationship is going to be front and center. The international aspect of the show, we plan to exploit that and shoot on some fun locations." Just a few minutes later, Claire Danes won for playing Carrie, which brought her back to talk as well. The HFPA member who brought her on stage introduced Claire saying, "We have Claire Danes, who we see here every year.":

On how Homeland has changed her as an actress and an American: Which comes first? It's been a real blessing this role. It's very, very unusual that I get a chance to take a character like this on. So layered, so dynamic. I've never seen a character this layered. It’s a great thrill to be able to explore something that interesting. The quality of writing on this show is spectacular. I’m having a fabulous time with that. I certainly got a work out this season. They asked me to do more than I've ever been asked to do. It was fantastic to develop that flexibility and strength, but it's exhausting. As an American, when I met with people and agents from the CIA, I was really struck by their patriotism. That’s something I’ve taken for granted and I guess I have learned through this story that it's something to take more seriously.

On knowing Homeland would be a hit: One never knows. It’s always a risk whenever you start any project, but I was absolutely riveted by the pilot and I trusted Alex and Howard to be able to sustain that level of writing through this season and seasons into the future. It’s a leap of faith and I’m just so profoundly relieved and more than flattered to think that is has captured the audience's imagination. It has really landed and resonated.

On Homeland changing the way she sees the news: Maybe it has to a certain extent. I think the older I get the greater responsibility I feel about being a citizen and being an American. I pretend to be this person more than anything else. We should all be very grateful that I am not actually in homeland security, since we would not be that secure. Carrie is much better at that than I am.

On researching the character: It was a pretty elaborate process. I like nerding out in that way. I like having a homework assignment of this scale. I delved into a lot of books about the CIA and bipolar disorder. I work with a CIA officer who is very senior and introduced me to people. I happen to have a number of friends who are psychologists, who I talked to about their bipolar clients. I actually went on YouTube, which was a really valuable resource. There is a lot of material. Bipolar people who are up all night and have no one to talk to, talk to the camera, and post it. I gorged on these videos. I tried to extrapolate from that. I have great respect for the illness. It’s no joke.
