Here's what I love about vintage: the details. Take this Geometric Navy Blue clutch ($40) circa 1950s. At first it looks sort of dull, but up close you see it has a fine corde fabric pattern and the triangular zipper pull is a truly unique detail.

Openwork, made by use of looping and a variety of ornamental knotting. Decoration on clothing, shoes, bags, jewelry, and wall hangings. It's believed to have originated with 13th-century Arab weavers.

Quick change artists will be attracted to the fashionable functionality of fold-over handbags. One minute it's a tote, the next it's a clutch, then it's a boho. A relative of the convertible bag, design trickery like this makes the high price tag seem not so.
