While it's not necessarily new to our eyes, color gradation sure is cool. Innovative trends were lacking on the New York Spring runways, but color sure wasn't. Come next Spring, once all the bold offerings come into fruition, I guarantee it'll get you in the mood for hot weather once again, as if you need any convincing.

Prada Ombre Patent Leather Tote: Love It or Hate It?

Color gradation is sometimes cool. But on a purse, like this Prada Ombre Patent Leather Tote, $2,270, it looks quite tacky. I really like the shape of the purse as well as the buckled top handles, but the color theatrics aren't for me. What about you?

Whitney Port was one of the first celebrities spotted with trendy ombré hair color, but over the past year or so, she's subtly gone from the popular gradiated look to something with less tonal variation. Johnny Ramirez, of the Neil George Salon in Beverly Hills, who has colored Whitney's hair in the past, says that while there is some horrible ombré color out there (think: too-dark roots), this look can be a timeless one - but only when done correctly.

That's because his approach involves duplicating the color his clients were born with, focusing on creating dimension, all while complementing their skin tones. But as for the extreme version of this trend, Johnny says, "I think that intense runway ombré hair is going to be out soon, but the real one - the pretty soft one - is always going to be around."
