Meet the Winners of the Moroso Contemporary Award and Check Out Moroso's Brand-New Soft Wood Sofa

Patrizia Moroso, art director of the Italian design company Moroso, just announced the results of the first-ever Moroso Award for Contemporary Art. The award, which was established to document, promote, and support artists, especially those working in new forms, went to Martino Gamber, Christina Frosi, and Anna Galtarossa. Each of the three will create a custom art installation in three Moroso showrooms internationally. Galtarossa, seen above on the right with Patrizia Moroso, will have an installation in New York during the Armory Show, while Martino Gamper will create his installation for Cologne for ArtCologne and Christian Frosi will be seen in London for Frieze Art Fair.

Anna Galtarossa's installation in Moroso's New York flagship store at 146 Greene Street, called Skyscraper Nursery, will be open starting today through March 26. For her project, the showroom was transformed into a "nursery" for skyscrapers. Essentially, the installation acts as a laboratory for viewers to explore their relationship with the city and its buildings.

"Skyscrapers, with their powerful iconic presence, manifest themselves as colossi populating our metropolitan fabric." Anna writes. "Through their design, dynamics and the way they socially structure us, these constructions radically affect our urban landscape."

Artist of the Day: Amanda Stone Talley

Earlier this week, New Orleans-based artist Amanda Stone Talley was kind enough to give us a tour of her glamorous carriage house in NOLA's Garden District. You may have spotted some of her work in the tour, but I wanted to dedicate a whole post to her artwork because, well, it's amazing.

Amanda grew up in Baton Rouge, LA, studied studio painting during undergrad at Mary Baldwin College, and then received her MFA in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design. She's called New Orleans home for the last 10 years, eight of which she worked with interior designer Gerrie Bremermann. Her work has been scooped up by several clients of Bremermann's; the synergy between Talley's work and Bremermann's sophisticated French antique aesthetic is truly powerful.

I've been telling you for a while now how traditional I am in almost every aspect of my life, especially when it comes to dating. It's not that I'm conservative, I just like classic, timeless traditions. While I'm all for experimentation and thinking outside the box, I'll always be that girl who likes a man to open the door for me and thinks the man should pay on the first date. I know not all of you think the same way so tell me, do you consider yourself traditional or more contemporary?

On Our Radar: Bringing Contemporary Wear to Hollywould!

With the current boom in contemporary wear, Hollywould has decided to ride the wave.

Come Spring, the brand best known for its hot shoes is launching a 75-piece collection of silk jersey dresses, printed gowns, cotton and jersey T-shirts, jackets, and denim, set to retail at the likes of Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf, and Harvey Nichols.

Eventually, the collection will include everything from lingerie and eyewear to swimwear and even perfume. Sounds like a star in the making!

Su Casa: Contemporary Meets French Country

I'm inspired by the colors and masculine-meets-feminine style in this photo that Rothchild posted in the Su Casa group. (Want to share your photos? Here's how to join Su Casa.) According to Rothchild, "I decorated this room about four years ago and I was really into French Country then. However, I am now leaning more towards contemporary design and would like to incorporate cleaner lines into my room."

Fab Flash: Another New Clothing Line for MK and Ashley!

Good news for all of you Mary-Kate and Ashley fashion fans! Now that they have the luxury market covered with The Row, Mary-Kate and Ashley have announced the launch of a new contemporary sportswear line, Elizabeth and James, coming out this Fall.

The line is named after their siblings and will include blazers, washed leather jackets, military-inspired tops, shrunken tees, oversize tees, pencil skirts, cashmere sweaters, fur jackets, and cashmere coats, all playing with a masculine/feminine theme. There will also be silk dresses and a sequined minidress inspired by one of Mary-Kate's vintage finds. The collection will be sold at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and Intermix, with a price range of $40-$452 - making it slightly more affordable than The Row. Exciting!
