Who Wore Minimal Best?

Red, nude, and gold may have dominated the dress color spectrum at the Met's Costume Institute Gala last night, but two women were notable for their minimal, but boldly hued dresses. Brooklyn Decker chose a hot pink Michael Kors dress with long sleeves and a deep slit, while Zoe Saldana chose a strapless yellow Calvin Klein gown. On a night where excess and fanciful details ruled, these women made a statement in their sartorial restraint. Who wore minimal best?

Miranda Kerr and Jessica Stam channeled a bit of the White Swan aesthetic at last night's Met Gala. Are you as excited as we are to see the incredible fashion that is sure to walk the red carpet at tonight's Met Gala? Often referred to as the Oscars of the East Coast, the Met Gala, helmed by Vogue editor Anna Wintour, is arguably the most fashionable event of the year. We'll be live blogging the event tonight, covering every look that comes down the red carpet, starting around 7 p.m. EST.

This year, the Gala honors the Costume Institute's latest exhibition, Savage Beauty, which looks at the work of British designer Alexander McQueen. It's a special time for the house of McQueen, as Kate Middleton, now Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, wore a wedding dress designed by current Alexander McQueen designer Sarah Burton.

One of my favorite things about May is The Met's Costume Institute gala. Since this year's theme is the American woman, we've decided to pay tribute to some of our favorite American designers who helped dress them. First up is the illustrious Ralph Lauren. Did you know his yearning for fashion and design started as a young boy working after school so he could buy himself suits? Cute. That was then, and now, Ralph Lauren is one of the biggest designers in American history. Throughout the years, Ralph has made a name for himself, pumping out classic cuts and sophisticated styles.
