I don't know where Maria Sharapova went last night, but it must have been a helluva swanky party. The tennis star has once again impressed with her spot-on fashion sense. The cobalt cutout Thakoon dress gives her look a major jolt, while the chunky silver Dries van Noten necklace adds more pizazz. What's particularly cool here is that she threw her black oversized blazer over her shoulders borrowed-from-the-boys style. But what's even cooler is that she designed her own shoes, complete with Nike air cushioning, in a collaboration with Cole Haan. Now that's style.

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Crop It, Slice It

Some of you mind overexposure on the runway and some of you don't. I can live with that. But if you start working on those abs now, by Springtime you can honor clothes that are cropped and sliced. I think crop tops can be adorable - when worn with a high waisted skirt or slouchy trousers - but you really have to have a smokin' bod. For those on the fence, a sliced or cut out top or dress is an alternative. If you want it all, Rodarte delivered a bandeau underneath a web of cut out knits.

Selma Blair's Black Nathan Jenden Cutout Dress: Love It or Hate It?

Just when I was about to frown upon Selma Blair's stylist for putting her in dowdy outfits for the Hellboy II movie photo calls, she showed up to a party in a sexy black Nathan Jenden cutout dress. I wouldn't mind if it were a tad shorter, but overall it works for Selma's off-kilter style. We've seen cut outs in all shapes and sizes, but here is a fresh approach. The cut outs almost resemble flower petals, and I love their unusual placements. The pointy Louboutin pumps and gold bangles elevate the look but don't distract from the design. Does Selma's black cutout dress wow you or bore you?

Dry Eye 
If you suffer from dry eye (you know, that annoying gritty feeling when you blink), then relief may be found in a simple cup of joe, according to researchers from the University of Tokyo's School of Medicine. Study participants were given either a caffeine supplement or a placebo, and they then had their eyes tested 45 minutes later. The results? Not a dry eye in the house for those who'd had caffeine: they produced more tears than their noncaffeinated counterparts. This could be especially good news for women, as dry eye tends to affect postmenopausal women more than any other group.

Why You Should Marinate Your Meat

Barbecue season is upon us, so let's celebrate by grilling, since it's an easy and low-fat way to cook. If you're grilling, protect your health by marinating your meat. Here's why marinating is good for your health and tips on how to keep it safe.

Marinating meat, fish, and poultry significantly decreases the amount of carcinogenic heterocyclic amines (HCAs) produced when the meat is cooked at high temperatures, like in grilling. Marinades can reduce HCAs by as much as 99 percent. Adding rosemary to the marinade may even up the anticancer potential of your marinade even more. While research is unclear why marinades protect meat so much, the belief is that they act as a barrier against the high heat, or may reduce chemical precursors of carcinogens from the meat.
The acid in marinades may slow the growth of harmful bacteria, like listeria.

"Why Did He Cut Me Off?"

I was seeing a guy at work for a couple of weeks and I really liked him. Unfortunately we ran into problems and I broke up with him after finding that he wasn't considering my feelings at all regarding a particular situation. I was and still am so into him so it was such a hard thing to do. When I broke up with him he instantly asked me to delete his number and said we shouldn't speak anymore. Since then, at work he has pretended that I don't even exist. The week before, he introduced me to his friends even though we were only a couple of weeks in! I feel so rejected and hurt. If we were friends, maybe it wouldn't hurt so much? I think I was falling for him, but my values were much more important and he didn't respect them. Why did he cut me off that way? Can anyone help?
