The adorable Christina Ricci left the gym looking mighty cute and non-sporty in her light blue plaid Splendid shirt, cutoff shorts, and Sigerson Morrison gold sandals. Wouldn't it be nice if every gym buff left their sneakers and sports bras in the . . . gym? I think so! The actress completed her casually nonchalant look with a cool cream bag, a star necklace, and Dita sunnies.

When I'm feeling a little flower child, I look to Nicole Richie for inspiration. After all, she's the queen of chic hippie looks. Case in point, this flowy bohemian blouse from her new Winter Kate collection. The small floral print, exaggerated bell sleeves, and wispy chiffon are all reminiscent of the sweet '70s. I like how she perfected the throwback look with her favorite pair of cutoff shorts and floppy hat. Too groovy for your liking? Try it with skinny jeans or tucked in for a more polished appeal.

Props to Nicky Hilton for thinking outside the umbrella. Instead of wearing the per-usual pair of galoshes during the wet season, the cutie donned funky mortal combat boots. Such footwear is ideal in slippery conditions and looks amazing with simple leggings or skinny jeans. I love how she completed her look with a tweed boyfriend blazer and oversize Ray-Ban sunnies. The best part? Come Summer, you can wear these tough boots with flirty floral frocks or cut-off shorts. Ready to kick some fashion ass?

There's a reason why I'm smiling today: the sun finally came out! In celebration of the warm(ish) rays, I walked the city streets in a pair of DIY cutoff shorts and a flowy silk tunic; I love the peekaboo effect. Also, I added a long sweater coat and layered tights to keep me at the perfect temperature. The fine details? A bold wooden statement necklace from Anthropologie and a pair of fold-over boots.

For Urban Outfitters, early Spring is all about the charming vintage girl. If you're that kind of cutie, immerse yourself in its abundance of pretty floral blouses, flirty skirts, and flowy dresses. Silk camisoles and striped bathing suits further the romantic theme. Sounds too soft? There's also a smattering of streamlined blazers, cutoff shorts, and utilitarian anoraks for the citified chick. I'm especially smitten with this striped open-back dress. Doesn't it make you want to grab your mallet and enjoy a day of croquette?

This is how Ashley Olsen does Summer. Itty-bitty denim cut-offs, retro footwear - clogs! - and a silky boyfriend shirt. We've moved past boyfriend jeans folks, it's on to that tousled, just-left-my-man's-place, vibe. If you ask me, boyfriend shirts are more flattering than boyfriend jeans anyway. With this borrowed-from-the-boys style you can leave a couple buttons undone, roll the cuffs, and sexily have your shirt blow in the wind.

Bright lights. Overcrowded fixtures. Bad, bad, clothes. Everywhere. This is often the situation when you enter a Forever 21 store. The sheer number of bad pleather leggings and neon animal-print blouson tops is enough to send any fashionista running the other direction.

However, the recessionista looks beyond the piles and racks and rows of bad, to the hidden, unexpected gems that lurk just on the other side of that pair of red denim hot pants. It takes skill, believe me. There are so many things in F21 that look great on the hanger and terrible on your body, but also plenty of things that look questionable until you try them on.

The honest fact too, is that F21 is a hit or miss situation. I've walked in there, looked around and walked out empty handed in under five minutes many times. But every now and then, I go in, find two arm-fulls of potential deals, and walk out an hour and a half later, $100 poorer and utterly pleased with my new purchases.

Isabel Marant - a Fab obsession - opted for more detail, more color, and more leg for Spring. Per usual, I adore everything, minus the camouflage boots. Marant delivered an eclectic chic mix of frilly skirts and dresses, sumptuous tweed, cool prints, girlie ruffles, city shorts, hot hot pink, and sweet turquoise. Railroad denim is redone: teeny short shorts, patchwork miniskirts, and cutoff jeans. Khaki jackets and vests are far from preppy in silky fabrics and utilitarian styles.Pants are either laid-back loose or sexy tight, shown in silky black, Carmen Kass multicolored stripes, hot pink, and cool gray; this pictured pair of laced up black pants are a new classic, totally unique.
