Project Runway Goes Drag

I'll take designing for drag queens over WWE divas any day. The designers got their chance at over-the-top and I'm satisfied that most of them lived up to the challenge. It's always a joy to be in the presence of season four alum Chris March and the queens were delightful - such personalities. There is definitely a lot of creativity in this group and this challenge set it free. However, once again I disagree with the winner. I'll spare you any spoilers because the eye candy is just too good . . . viva la drag!

FABTV: Bryan Adams "The Only Thing That Looks Good on Me is You"

To add to my enthusiasm for attending New York fashion week I thought I could bring you some runway-inspired FABTV!

As you are reading this I am probably en route to the Big Apple. So I'll pretend to close my eyes and envision the saturated scene that is Bryan Adams "The Only Thing That Looks Good on Me is You" video. Who knew Bryan was so fashionable? With the acid brights and runway full of the usual fashion characters: models, drag queens, models who look like drag queens - it's sort of like a Heatherette show! (Which I will be attending next week, btw). A polished Bryan takes breaks in the bathroom while the runway tickles our senses. May each show I attend be filled with excitement, theatrics and, of course, fabulous clothes!

Were You Happy About Who Was Auf'd on Project Runway?

I'm just gonna put it out there: Spoiler alert! Most of the creations from last night's Project Runway turned out better than I thought. Another pleasant surprise was who was auf'd. Keith has increasingly demonstrated questionable design skills and, as was pointed out last night, has increasingly demonstrated attitude. I knew it was coming sooner or later, although this should have happened last week when he sent a nonplussed drag queen look down the runway. Oh! And the guest judge, none other than Rachel Zoe, whom we've been revealing all sorts of juicy tidbits about leading up to her Bravo show, The Rachel Zoe Project. Zoe was nice and approachable compared to Nina Garcia stand-in Laura Bennett (who also instantly seemed to dislike Keith). Bad vibes man. Meanwhile, Zoe had a fondness for Korto's seatbelted dress coat; it was superb, but not Korto's best. Congrats to the winner, and the loser. Where you happy to see Keith go?

What Was She Thinking?!

Welcome to the . . . circus? That's what happens when you throw Agyness Deyn, Caroline Trentini, Gemma Ward, Iselin Steiro, Lily Donaldson, and Sasha Pivovarova in a park with drag queen-style makeup and colorful clothes that give new meaning to the term mismatched. Fashion Rocks 2007's "In My Tribe" editorial is one big, crazy lovefest outfitted by what looks like House of Holland on acid. Agyness must be in heaven! The funniest is Lily (center), double hoola hooping like she doesn't have a care in the world. All the while, the white bunny rabbits in the back are thinking, I wonder how these models feel about interspecies dating!

Model Clones: Fatima from America's Next Top Model + Iman

Last night's America's Next Top Model took a little break and recapped all the previous episodes. My favorite part was when guest judge and model Paulina Porizkova ripped the models' looks apart upon their first meeting. She told Amis that she has bad skin (ouch), and that Dominique looks like a drag queen (double ouch). You can guess from this picture what she said to Fatima . . . that she looks like Iman. Quite the compliment. All the other models must have been fuming. Just to throw in a little cruelty, Paulina pointed out that Fatima's eyes are much smaller. 'Tis true, but after being called a baby Iman, they may as well have ended the contest and given Fatima the $100,000. Both women are Somalian; do you see the uncanny similarities?

Celebrity Style: Jaslene Gonzalez

"America's Next Top Model" winner, Jaslene Gonzalez, has really taken the judges' advice and toned down her drag queen-ness! The result is a beautiful, exotic model who can strut her stuff both on and off the catwalk. I love the navy blue button down jumper and nude pumps she's sporting at the Indy 500. The look is ultra simple, yet sizzles because of her honey skin and fierce personality!
