Ombre is beginning to rear its pretty head and while it feels very warm-weathery, I'm already seeking a new ombre addition. I'm still on the fence though - some of these items are dope, while some of them are dull. Here's the dilemma: It's a trendy motif, but only looks good on fine fabrics. Case in point: ombred fur at J. Mendel's Spring '08 show (pictured). Thus, one should seek out an ombre that looks expensive but doesn't break the bank. Ah, the trials and tribulations of fashion . . .

The Look For Less: J. Crew Space-Dyed Cardigan

Just when I thought I owned all the cardigans a girl could ever want, I came across this cool J. Crew Space-Dyed Cardigan ($108). The burnout design is innovative and I love the long, lean cut. It's a timeless investment, but sadly, my budget won't allow for it. During times like these, improvising is the only way to go.

This Delia's Burnout Cardigan ($35) is more in my price range. There aren't any buttons but I can easily cinch in the flyaway front with a slim belt. It's such a great deal, right?

Are you a tie-dye girl? I am. That's why this Mociun Tie-Dyed Crop Top ($52, originally $173) looks good to me. It almost looks like a DIY project, doesn't it? I love the buttons going down the middle, and the fact that it's cropped and made of hemp. For variation, you can wear it unbuttoned over a simple tank or over a bikini.

The maxi has proven to be a favorite Summer dress, especially amongst the starlets. But there are so many fabulous styles to choose from. Dip dyed maxis are both comfortable and unique. The Look For Less: J Brand Out of Control Tie-Dyed Jeans

This one's for all you ballsy girls, myself included. These J Brand Out of Control Jeans ($209) are just that - OOC. The dark tie-dye rinse is an uptown ode to its hippie origin, and I'm sweet on the slim straight leg. Yes, Balmain has reignited this whole craze, and I can't get enough. However, my wallet won't budge for such a fleeting trend.

These Divine Rights of Denim Tie-Dye Jeans ($65) share the same characteristics without the hefty price tag. Now, I can use the extra moolah to purchase this tough shouldered Zara blazer to complete my Balmain-inspired ensemble. If this look is too '80s for your taste, try pairing with a white tee and heels a la Audrina Patridge. It's too cool for school.

Sneak Peek! Nine West, Fall '09

Nine West is on the top of my list when it comes to funky, comfy, footwear at a reasonable price. For Fall, the brand stepped it up - pun intended - supplying us with cutout booties, platform sandals, and leather boots dyed in rich jewel tones and classic Autumn hues. Heels are high, but not ridiculously so, textures cozy and buttery soft. I can't stop staring at this purple suede peep-toe pump; don't you love the butterfly cut embellishment?

Sneak Peek! H&M Fall '09

We're in the thick of Summer (bask), but one must focus on the fashion horizon. Let H&M's Fall collection, modeled by Sigrid Ågren, inspire. Silhouettes are experimental - surprised to see some cocooning - there's a definite '80s influence, and layered wooly knits actually make me miss cozying up in the cabin. Colors are serious; black and neutrals are balanced with brown and jewel tones. These angular images, shot by Peter Gehrke, teach keen styling and layering techniques. Ombre also makes a cameo - I kinda love these dip-dyed khakis. I also sense a slight disheveled chic Burberry vibe. When dissected, there's something for every cuddle bug. See the full Fall lineup.

Nancy Gonzalez Loves a Challenge

Not too long ago, Saks invited me to meet handbag designer Nancy Gonzalez. For those not familiar, Nancy has been delivering decadent - read: exotic - handbags since 1998. Think of a Nancy Gonzalez bag as a classic - up there with Chanel and Bottega Veneta - only spicier. That is because Nancy hails from Colombia and splits her time between New York and her native country. She was very warm and vivacious. But when it came her to her bags, she was serious.

Others serious about Nancy's bags include Mary-Kate Olsen, who has recently been carrying her clutches, and a couple appeared in the Sex and the City movie. They're everywhere really; you just have to keep an eye out, as there's no mistaking her bright croc signature. Here's what goes on in the designer's brain.

What made you decide to work with animal skins for your bags?

"I have always worked with precious skins. The collaboration with nature has always fascinated me."

How do you get your colored bags so bright?

"My colors are inspired by the exuberant landscape of my native Colombia. All our skins our naturally dyed and then buffed, which brings out this particular radiant, colorful luster that my bags have."

"I am always attached to those bags which are hardest to do. Such as the woven crocodile ones. In particular, one woven in the shape of leaves."

Your bags are pretty pricey. Are you going to be doing anything in a lower price point in reaction to the current economic crisis?

"One's own state of mind will inform the time and style in which one lives. My job as a designer is to interpret the times with imagination, artistry, and daring. I want to provide a chic, effortless, modern, approachable, and beautiful product at the right price."

Describe the women who wear your bags.

"Every woman that wants a universal, unique, true, exciting, sincere, and joyful experience."

2009 Cannes Film Festival: Evangeline Lily

You loved Rachel Weisz in emerald green dip-dyed Valentino; how about Evangeline Lily in a turquoise version? At the Looking For Eric premiere, "Freckles" and new L'Oréal lady opted for a cool crisscross bodice and high slit, but it's the bright-to-dark turquoise hue I adore. With the high neck, pulling her hair back in a slick pony was totally a good call. Thoughts?
