By now, most of you know that in addition to fashion I also love animals. I am, after all, mommy to my Frenchie Annabelle. Imagine taking our favorite animals and pairing them with the industry's hottest models and the world's most sought-after designers. Welcome to the animal hause! I've been noticing many a editorial featuring our furry, and not-so-furry, friends: dogs, monkeys, elephants, cats, cheetahs. Oh, and an eland (a type of antelope) like the one model Behati Prinsloo is battling in April's Harper's Bazaar. Some of these are sexy, some are scary, some serious, and some comical. Welcome to the jungle baby.

Telling the Future: Top 10 Spring '10 Colors Revealed!

Fashion Week has begun, and you know what that means: time for Pantone Color Institute to announce its top 10 colors for Spring '10. The verdict? A mix of bright and neutral tones. “It’s a cautious optimism, however, because no one can ignore the elephant still in the room - the recession,” said Leatrice Eiseman of the Pantone Color Institute. Violet ranked in as number one for its exciting yet cool tone; Tomato Puree made its mark as the passionate color of choice; Fusion Coral was chosen for its flattering nature to all skin tones; and Amparo Blue was picked for its warm undertones. Interesting!

10 Things We Love About Pretty Little Thing NYC

Not too long ago I purchased a tiny gold dagger necklace and a shell crescent necklace from Pretty Little Thing NYC. I was instantly drawn to its variety - current collections range from mercury rising to golden days to hot child in the city to she's a rainbow. Each collection is reasonably priced, and has its quirk, its charm. And look, Alexa Chung has also fallen for PLT's jewels; she recently wore its lucky elephant necklace to the I Heart Ronson's party in NYC. Along with hers, I love nine other PLT stunners. I think you will, too!

Avedon For Breakfast

I have always been an Avedon fan, but after viewing his new exhibit at the SFMOMA "Richard Avedon: Photographs: 1946-2004," I look at the iconic photographer in a new light. A raw, intense, emotional spotlight.

New York-born Avedon was an integral part of fashion in the '60s - you probably recognize Twiggy's hair and Dovima with elephants. These were from his decades as the staff photographer at Harpers Bazaar. He then delved into the zeitgeist of the turbulent '60s, shooting portraits of players in the sexual and intellectual counterculture movements; the Beatles, Allen Ginsberg, Bob Dylan, Malcolm X, and Andy Warhol were all present in one room. One photo that had me mesmerized was a glimpse of Warhol's scar-ridden torso; it was provocative yet melancholy, further feeding into the artistic enigma that is Warhol.

Self-portraits of the late photographer were sprinkled throughout, showing his evolution from young gun to wise old soul.

One series in particular intrigued: "In the American West" (1980-85). While it was exciting to look into the eyes of famed writers, artists, political figures, and icons, it was the real people of our country - oil workers, a 13-year-old rattlesnake wrestler, drifters, carnies, waitresses - that evoked life, real humanity.

Avedon passed away in 2004 and this is the only US venue for this exhibition - the first major retrospective of his work since his death. If you happen to be in San Francisco July 11 to Nov. 29, be sure to eat some Avedon for breakfast, it is an utterly fulfilling, eye-opening experience. See some selections from the exhibit.

LA Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Whitley Kros

Whitley's Kros bohemian babe continues her journey through another LA Fashion Week. This time, striped tunics, easy-wear silk separates, animal prints, and the necessary Spring jumpsuit are falling out of her suitcase. Colors range from ivory to sherbet hues and vivid brights. A couple full-on exotic prints made their way onto loose blouses and skirts. Sheer also made a sexy cameo. The traveling elephant print is adorable and youthful. Layered beaded and gold jewelry adds keen styling and the funky knotted buns atop the models' heads would make Punky Brewster proud. While there are lots of messages in this collection, it is cohesive. This stylish nomad has clearly mastered the art of sophisticated mix matching.

Fab Ad: Hermes Fall '08

Who ever said models were dainty? Not me. They get to wear coveted clothes and attend fabulous parties, but what about posing mid-air on a ladder, or in this case, lugging around an ox in the frigid snowy mountains? Leave it to Hermes to create yet another masterpiece with its Fall ad campaign.

The trooper is Mariacarla Boscono, whom you may recognize from Pucci's psychedelic Fall campaign. This time around, the beautiful donna is looking wintry lovely in Hermes's mosaic-print skirt, fur-lined coat, and sumptuous suede boots. The ox, of course, is adorned with Hermes elements as well. The snowy alps is a perfect backdrop to these colorful offerings. First came the elephants, now oxen, I can't wait to see what's next!

Denim Designer Spotlight: Current/Elliott
