After months of shuffling and shifting at Ungaro, Jeanne Labib-Lamour's presence as chief designer seems to offer clarity in a bright, beautifully crafted Spring 2012. At the forefront of our minds are the bold abstract prints in fresh poppy-red and turquoise that ran throughout, dotting shifts, pants, blouses, and even swimwear. The pattern is actually inspired by aerial shots from NASA, proving that Labib-Lamour may just have the wit and talent to see the couture house through. Even while the print makes a bold impression, you never seem to tire of its statement quality; but when the evening wear surfaces in the form of a gray column gown or a gold-sequin dotted strapless, and the chic peplum-trimmed halter dress makes an appearance, the change illustrates Labib-Lamour's perfect grasp of modern femininity and the new direction she can offer Ungaro.

Trends: Brights, prints, cutouts, evening wear.

Giles Deacon Takes Over the Ungaro Throne

After a tumultuous 2009 with the whole Esteban Cortazar and Lindsay Lohan drama, Ungaro is ready for a fresh start with the announcement of its newest creative director: Giles Deacon. The artsy British designer, who will continue to produce his namesake line, is set to show his first collection for the Paris fashion house in September. "I obviously don’t want to infringe upon my own line, but I like things that are very feminine, lots of color, great prints, great quality, some unusual cuts. All of those things that I like in the world of fashion design I'm going to bring to what I feel is appropriate for the Ungaro woman," Deacon said. Excited? We are, too. We've experienced the best and worst at Ungaro, including celebrity designer Lindsay Lohan being let go. Now the house is looking for the perfect replacement for Lohan and tandem designer Estrella Archs. There are rumors swirling about Giles Deacon possibly taking over the creative director reins after he was spotted having lunch with owner Asim Abdullah. The fate of Ungaro remains to be seen, but I'm curious: who do you think should take over? An established designer? Perhaps a fashion-loving celebrity? Vote below!

It's Official: Lindsay Lohan Out at Ungaro

It was a media doozy last year when fashion darling Esteban Cortezar left Ungaro, and the house hired Lindsay Lohan as its "artistic advisor." Now, one questionable Spring collection later, the celebrity designer has confirmed she is no longer with the fashion house. When asked why she wasn't present at Ungaro's Fall '10 runway show this week, Lohan responded, “Because I don’t work for them anymore. There's legal things going on; I can’t really discuss it." Ungaro owner Asim Abdullah also commented stating, "She's not involved in this [Fall '10] collection." Looks like it's the end of the road for Lohan and Ungaro - are you surprised?

Emanuel Ungaro Calls Lindsay's Collab a Disaster

You weren't the only one hating Lindsay Lohan and Estrella Arch's heart pasties: Emanuel Ungaro despised them, too. The designer, who parted ways with his namesake label back in 2005, has kept mum about the collaboration - until now. In a recent press conference, Ungaro stated, "Lindsay Lohan's collaboration was a disaster. I am furious but I can't do anything about it."

Ungaro continues, stating that the Paris fashion house "is in the process of losing its soul. That happens to a lot of designers. We were the creators and patrons, responsible for the creation and destiny of our houses. But when we gave up our houses, we gave up our souls," said the designer. Sad.

From the runways onto department and drugstore shelves, I'm sure we'll see lots of fresh new makeup options and application techniques go full circle come March. Last month in New York, we saw six very wearable trends emerge, from peach lips to bold eyeliner to heavy-handed under-the-eye liners. But throughout the course of New York Fashion Week and other Spring 2010 shows, including Paris, London, and Milan, there were other looks that won't quite make the transition. Take this sequin forehead heart-shaped applique, for instance - straight from the Ungaro show in Paris, for which Lindsay Lohan acted as artistic adviser. While I appreciate each and every designer's artistic flair, some looks just won't translate to real life. See what I mean now.

Lindsay Lohan debuted her first advised collection for Emanuel Ungaro over the weekend. It's not half bad, though I still yearn for Esteban Cortezar's vivid prints and sassy draping. What I can see as a Lohan touch is this bedazzled heart pastie one of the models wore. It's done in an admittedly demure fashion, a little less blatant than Rihanna's Fourth of July star pastie. It helps that the white embroidered jacket is pretty gorgeous. But is it still totally tacky?

Lindsay Lohan Takes the Reins at Ungaro

Wow, the rumors were true. Promptly following Esteban Cortazar's exit from Ungaro, the fashion house has tapped Lindsay Lohan as its artistic adviser, alongside new chief designer Estrella Archs. Apparently, Ungaro's chief executive, Mounir Moufarrige, was looking to add excitement to the brand, and no doubt hiring Lindsay has definitely caught everyone's attention. "Odds are it could work," said Moufarrige. “I think the noise level around Lindsay will be very, very big." Lohan and Archs are set to debut their first collection for Ungaro at Paris Fashion Week in October. Thoughts?
