From the runways onto department and drugstore shelves, I'm sure we'll see lots of fresh new makeup options and application techniques go full circle come March. Last month in New York, we saw six very wearable trends emerge, from peach lips to bold eyeliner to heavy-handed under-the-eye liners. But throughout the course of New York Fashion Week and other Spring 2010 shows, including Paris, London, and Milan, there were other looks that won't quite make the transition. Take this sequin forehead heart-shaped applique, for instance - straight from the Ungaro show in Paris, for which Lindsay Lohan acted as artistic adviser. While I appreciate each and every designer's artistic flair, some looks just won't translate to real life. See what I mean now.

New York Fashion Week is always a whirlwind, and it's important to stop and smell the fashion roses. In my final roundup, soak up sleek styles from Tommy Hilfiger, edgy chic by Kimberly Ovitz, and pretty musings by Erin Fetherston. Phi (pictured) was my final show - front row Traina spotting! - and it was every bit irreverent as expected. Javier and Penelope Bring Their Vicky Cristina to NYC

The cast of Vicky Cristina Barcelona hit NYC last night, missing a few stars but still showing off the steaminess that makes the movie so hotly anticipated. Scarlett didn't join the group, maybe because she's sick of answering questions about Barack Obama or her fiance Ryan. Her costar Patricia Clarkson brought a little va-va-voom, but even Woody skipped the red carpet in his home town. Even though Javier and Penelope once again stayed away from each other on the red carpet, we all know who they're both sneaking away with at the end of the night.

All the Boys Love Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway and Mary-Kate Olsen put on their best party dresses for the Annual Winter Dance at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC last night. Anne dressed for the theme in her Winter white number while Mary-Kate was just trying to keep warm. Ms. Hathaway arrived on the arm of Raffaello Follieri of course, but she also welcomed Roberto Cavalli as a second date, saying, "It's nice to have two men fawning over you." Anne certainly isn't shy about bragging about all the male attention she's been getting these days, but it's starting to rub us the wrong way.

Backstage Beauty: Erin Fetherston

One of my favorite things to do is to watch a model's face go from nude to runway-ready, which is just what I got to do with Nars senior makeup artist James Boehmer. Erin Fetherston's collection was inspired by Juliet (of the Capulets), so James came up with a subtle, innocent face for the show.

Fresh, young, dewy skin is essential to this look. James and his team used concealer only where absolutely necessary, letting the texture of skin show through. A light dusting of loose powder kept foreheads from looking shiny under the lights. (For most models, the shade Snow was used). The eyes were deceptively simple. James used a soft brown pencil to highlight the crease, helping to define the eye without leaving that color visible when the model's eyes were open. A few false lashes near the center of the eye were coated with mascara, but lightly-so that you see long lashes, not obvious mascara.

Cheeks got glowy with a little Rosebud Salve on just the apples, and then the artists added color by blending red lipstick into it. For lips, James dabbed color on the inside of the lip, moving outward. When watching the show, Fab specifically mentioned the makeup-something she doesn't always do-so I was glad to see that she loved the look as much as I did.

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008: Erin Fetherston

With a mixed celebrity audience: Anne Hathaway, boyfriend Raffaello Follieri, Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen, Rachel Zoe, and model Irina Lazareanu, Erin Fetherston tread into new waters.

The It designer, who in recent seasons has sent monochrome hippie nightgown-cum-dresses and ruffled girly-girl skirts down the runway in a palette of white, ivory, and shades of grey, added color . . . and even bold prints into the mix.

The feel was contemporary and everyday wearable - don't get me wrong, her trademark flowy gowns and floral head trimmings were still there, in numbers - but there were also tailored blazers, little everyday dresses and tunics.

I wonder if her recent line for Target has anything to do with the change?

Blonde Parade at Young Collectors Council Ball

Some hot young blondes came out in NYC last night for the Guggenheim Young Collectors Council Artist's Ball hosted by Chloe. Blake Lively looked great, as usual, helping Chace fill our Gossip Girl fix for this rerun week. One half of your favorite platonic TV duo of the year, Becki Newton looked hot other than those boots. Fab's got the look for you (with a better choice of footwear). Meanwhile, not Piper Perabo's best look at all. I'm sure a few fashion mishaps didn't get in the way of any sort of good time had by all the lovely ladies.

Sneak Peek! Erin Fetherston for Target

Erin Fetherston's Target collection isn't supposed to hit stores until November 18, but in true Target form, some pieces are already available online, including the dress at left and a cute ivory cocoon coat.

This collection has been polarizing - either you Love It or Hate It - because of its super girly-girl feel. The peter pan collars, heart bags, and minidresses were all showcased during a (too) long introductory commercial that you probably caught if you watched The Hills last night.

Have a good long gaze at the collection below, and then spill: will you be hitting the Erin Fetherston racks at Target?

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Erin Fetherston

Relatively new to the runway, but definitely distinctive, Erin Fetherston's designs are what little big girls dream about. Super feminine and girly, while remaining modern, here is a collection that wisks you away to a beautiful boudoir floating in space. Fittingly, she named the collection “Wandering Stars."

The colors were neutral: black, grey, white and taupe but the collection felt far from drab with plump silhouettes and metallic sprinklings. The collection was all dresses, and reminded me of nightgowns you could wear out for a night on the town. Fabrics were light, sheers, tulles and chiffons, and heavy, velvet and brocades. Dreamy touches like the one shoulder and peter pan collars played up the youthful feel; bra tops on dresses added a subtle sex appeal. Prints and beading showed up in star and heart prints. All looks were escorted by grey sheer knit thigh highs and lovely beaded beanies.

My favorite look: A black velvet mini dress with sheer sleeves and neck; I love how skin plays peekaboo here. To see the rest of my New York Fashion Week Fall 2007 coverage click here.
