Exposed zippers are one of the best fashion innovations because they add a casually cool flair to any item. This Matt Bernson Swain Sandal ($198) was a stand out when I was scouring the best shoes for Spring. And if they had a five-inch platform, I think Ashley Olsen would buy them, too. Love!

The annual Met Gala not only inspires fashion's finest to come together for an epic showing of couture, avant-garde, and wildly fantastic gowns, but it also allows us to catch up - if only for 60 seconds - with some of our favorite style setters. Last night's affair was nothing short of eye-catchingly chic, and to add to our plate, we caught up with the likes of Rachel Zoe in her own fringed creation, the beautiful Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren, and Monique Lhuillier-clad Ginnifer Goodwin. Wondering who's bringing sexy back, which model isn't worried about wardrobe malfunctions, and which cool girl gets nervous about those infamously treacherous museum steps? Victoria Beckham Spring 2012

Victoria Beckham, one of our favorite style mavens - and super-chic mama - showed a gorgeous, glossy Spring 2012 collection, mixing sleek, fitted silhouettes with roomier, more free-form shapes. Beckham showcased the kinds of body-conscious sheaths we might see her wearing, in bold navy and orange colorblocking, then surprised with newer, looser shapes in shiny satin finishes on jackets and sportier styled parkas in dreamy lavender and gray hues. Present throughout the collection is a heavy dose of leather - layered under dresses in creamy white and black, on newsboy caps, and cutout, ankle-wrap sandals and pumps. Sporty elements make an appearance in the form of zippered details, drawstrings, and halter necklines done in thicker harness-style straps. It's a blend of the sexy and the streamlined, appealing both to the minimalists and the statement-makers. The collection manages to walk that line between being modern, feminine, and wearable all at once. It offers the new without compromising Beckham's eye for the impeccably tailored, the undeniably cool.

BCBG Spring 2012

BCBG cited Spring’s fresh energy and an urban, global spirit as inspiration for the Spring 2012 collection, which was dedicated almost entirely to soft, breezy dresses. Silk crepe and sheer chiffon fabrics were cut to flow away from the body via asymmetric hems, thigh-high slits, drop-waist, knife pleats, and peekaboo shoulders. There was a sporty element too, thanks to exposed bands in contrasting colors that looked like bra straps and sheer chiffon track jackets, complete with a hoodie and zipper. Then came the prints, first geometric juxtapositions of colors that channeled the art-deco designs of the 1920s before morphing into tribal-inspired embroidery and beading. If it sounds like a mishmash, it was, but the result worked in a collection that was softly edgy and self-assured. To see the clothes in movement, watch our runway video.

Colors: Coral, cobalt, yellow, teal, navy, and neutrals.
