Fab How-To: Sample Sale Shopping

Now that we've shown you a peek into Spring, as well as some of the new Fall 2007 looks, if you are anything like me, you've already begun to clean out your closet to ensure there's ample space in there for what's to come! Stores are still having major sales and private brands are conducting their own and much awaited sample sales.

The slashed price tags can really make your tail wag, but beware! You don't want to wind up with a closet full of junk...no less, last season's junk. For a few helpful tips from a shopping junkie on how to tackle sample sales, read more

Lesson One: Try and resist the need for an item simply because it seems like such a good deal. At the time it may seem like a fab purchase, but if realistically you are never going to put it on, then put it down!
Lesson Two: Don’t buy it if it doesn't fit you while you are in the store. I can't tell you how many times I thought, "this will look great after I lose the weight I've been meaning to shed." If you never get around to losing the weight, the item will never fit. Also if something requires a costly alteration, consider if it's really worth the investment.
Lesson Three: Slow down shopper! If you are rushing but want to buy something so you feel a sense of accomplishment, chances are that you won't make a good choice. Shop when you've got the time to give your purchases proper smarts.
Lesson Four: Look for quality, not quantity. It's better to own a few nice investment staples than to own a closet full of trendy and shoddy items that will soon be out of style and will fall apart. Train yourself to splurge on timeless pieces.
Lesson Five: Spring clean before you go to a sample sale. Have an idea of what you need so that you won't be tempted to buy just anything that catches your eye. Your goal should be to get rid of anything that you haven't worn in two years (and that's a cushioned rule since I'm sentimental).
Tip: An additional helpful hint: make sure you wear clean, cute underwear that you don't mind others seeing. Often times sample sales are in huge warehouses or auditoriums with open changing rooms or none at all. Showing up commando at a sample sale is an etiquette and fashion DON'T!

Fab How-To: Stacked Gold Bracelets

Drew is looking so hot lately and in this Roberto Cavalli dress at the Music and Lyrics premiere last week she piled on stacked gold bracelets. I think she went a bit overboard but I do really like this look. I know the majority of you don't prefer yellow gold so I've devised a way for you to achieve this look for when it's only a one or two time thing.

Buy them cheap, and in bulk, and layer them on! Check out these Claire's smooth gold bangles and Claire's variety of gold bangles, both $6.50/set of five. Raid your friends' and moms' jewelry to see if they have any more you can throw in the mix. The key to this look is to wear them with something exotic, sexy and ideally with a tan!

Fab Ad: Chloe Spring/Summer '07

Does anyone else want to be these hippie chic girls? She's not pictured here but the latest Chloe Spring/Summer ads also feature a brunette with equally shiny tousled hair donning the latest from Chloe. Representing here are the lovely Anja Rubik & Raquel Zimmerman. While I envision myself as the before mentioned brunette I guess one of these blond visions will suffice. The Chloe girls are the Versace girls come undone, or rather, on mushrooms.

What I love about this Fab Ad is the movement, the whimsy, the cool. One of the official new "It" bags, the Chloe Bay Bag, is in the spotlight. And the clothes? Ivory frilly blouses, milky studs and baubles, and fruit punchy hues. Groovy baby. What do you all think?

Wait - isn't Earth Day this weekend? Here's a Fab salute to the day of the green. One last note: that green eyeshadow? Lovely. Anyone want to take a stab at a how-to? I dare you!

If I'd known you gals were so wacky over all things beauty I would have started Beauty Marks months ago! I'm certainly not the only product junkie out there, as demonstrated by the members of the Beauty Product Junkies Group started by atoxicsparkle. (thank you darling!) I Want This Wardrobe: Factory Girl

Today's 'It' girl Sienna Miller plays the original 'It' girl Edie Sedgwick in the movie Factory Girl hitting theaters today. After getting the inside scoop from the film's costume designer John Dunn, I learned that Sienna's wardrobe was, not surprisingly, mostly vintage - except a pair of killer Jimmy Choo boots. As you can see, all these wardrobe pieces are still stylish as ever. As much as I would love to go back in time to snag some of these Fab pieces for myself, check out what I did find, ready and available to all of us.
