Hear me out. Faded jeans may be reminiscent of the early '90s - a time when supermodels ruled the world - and is that such a bad thing? You may feel compelled to wear a pair with an off shoulder black v-neck sweater and Keds, and as a result look like early Cindy Crawford. Again, not so tragic in my book. But if you dig 'em and want to look modern, take a clue from Alexander Wang (pictured) who twinned the light denim with fun heels and silky textures. But hey, if you want to channel the supermodel heyday, be my guest.

Faded Jeans: Love It or Hate It?

Celebs are not only embracing the wide leg jeans trend, they are also encouraging faded jeans. Even some of our stylish readers are sporting this look. Here, Life & Style shows Rachel Bilson, Kristin Cavallari and Jennifer Lopez in their white wash pairs. What do you think about this trend? I personally think it has to do with the silhouette and cut of the denim. I prefer my light jeans like Jennifer's: long, high waisted and wide or as cut off jean shorts.

Spring's in bloom. Case in point: Fab reader Smileforstyle has doubled up on the floral front in honor of the seasonal transition. We love the way she paired faded floral skinny jeans with a brighter buttoned-down flower power blouse. To make sure this pretty printed look didn't get too carried away, she wore a sweet white sweater over the top. It's one-part preppy, two-parts strategic layering. For a polished finish, she added long delicate gold chains and nude pumps.

What We're Packing for New York Fashion Week

With New York Fashion Week only a couple of weeks away, we're admittedly preoccupied with what we'll be wearing. Sure, the runways take center stage, but killer street style is half the fun. To that end, we're handpicking our favorite pieces to pack for the action because you never know when you might get snapped. Here's a little fodder for your outfit planning and a peek at the essentials we'll be packing this season:

Keep your outerwear functional and stylish by investing in a go-with-anything anorak. A piece like this transitions seamlessly from day to night and pairs well with just about everything, trust us.
Look for added luxe in a great pair of earrings. High necklines and layers might cover up a pretty necklace, but a gorgeous pair of drop earrings will lend a glam touch that won't get lost in your look.
Ditch your blue jeans in favor of slick leather. A pair of leather pants looks infinitely more polished than your faded denim - think of this as your Fashion Week basic, then add on your cozy knits to contrast.
As far as footwear is concerned, keep it practical. A pair of strappy heels might look great, but chances are you'll be pretty chilly. Swap out stilettos for a bootie with a substantial block heel or a walkable platform. Keep a cool loafer or oxford on hand for staying stylish on the run.

Is a Steve Jobs Action Figure Too Much?

While it's been three months since Apple CEO and technology innovator Steve Jobs passed away, two toy manufacturers are already eager to memorialize the man as a toy figurine. The iCEO mini Steve Jobs action figure ($100) from toy companies in icons and Dragon in Dream is scheduled for retail sale at the end of February.

The 12 inch figure is already garnering attention for the convincing look-alike depiction of the man who told us to "Stay hungry, stay foolish." From the black turtleneck to the faded jeans, round glasses and gray beard ever, the action figure doesn't miss a single iconic detail, but is it too much? The Jobs family blocked a toy likeness of Steve from production in 2010, so it's likely this figurine will meet the same response. What's your take on the toy unveiling?

25 Things to Do With Old Jeans

Recycling fabric is a powerful green living and cost saving strategy. Denim is one of the coolest fabrics to do it with. It's sturdy, gains character with age and can be acquired very inexpensively at yard sales or in your own "old clothes" closet. Some of the coolest ideas I've found?

Pot holders. In my opinion, these look far better out of used denim than the new stuff. And you can incorporate your own style via choice of trim or a patch stitched to the outside. Here's a link to some tips for making your own.
Cool quilts. You can do this in many forms. Different shades of denim patchwork options abound and are certainly sturdy and fun. Unfortunately, one of the coolest ideas I've ever seen I've been unable to find pictures of. It was done with pieced denim, but they had left on all the details like pockets, buttons, belt loops, etc. It made for a really fabulous unique quilt with a lot of attitude. Robert Pattinson arrived to the Toronto set of Cosmopolis this morning in a in a low-key outfit. He's been hard at work on the project for the last few days, spending time alongside costar Sarah Gadon in a chic suit and button-down shirt. It's a different look from Rob's off-duty uniform of faded jeans and casual tees, but he's no stranger to getting fancy after recently wrapping up a worldwide press tour for Water For Elephants. He's up north working on the David Cronenberg-directed picture while his Twilight costars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are prepping for Sunday's MTV Movie Awards. Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner's MTV Movie Awards promos with host Jason Sudeikis had you laughing, but it seems that her attempt at comedy was the funnier of the two.

The sun is shining and the seagulls are singing (or more accurately, combing the beach for your sandy leftovers)-it’s summertime! You may have your swimsuit du jour squared away along with the perfect pair of sunnies, but the question remains: Are you really ready to hit the beach?

In addition to my door side “go” bag (see In the Bag: Prepped & Ready for all the details), there are a few key fashion items I keep around for hanging beachside…

Classic Cut Offs
Every gal needs a good old pair of cut off jean shorts. For me, denim cutoffs will always be a summer staple. They are as timeless as they are California cool. Lately, I’ve been wearing Levi’s because I like the looser fit and higher set waist. The Levi’s 501 cut works well with most body types. Other cute cut offs I found online include Madewell’s cuffed Midi Shorts or Urban Outfitter’s Urban Renewal Shorts.

Neutral Sandals
I cannot stress how important it is to have a great pair of neutral sandals. Your wardrobe choices are exponentially multiplied when you’ve got a pair of shoes that go with almost everything in your closet. A few of my favorites are the sandals I designed for my LC Lauren Conrad line for Kohl’s, Tory Burch’s Emmy Flats, Topshop’s Hoopa Sandals, and Aldo’s Dauster Flats. And for those of you who plan on treading into the sand, I suggest keeping a pair of Havaianas Slim Flip Flops handy (I like the sand grey and light golden color combo).
