Fashion Week Live in SF And Fab Was There!

As you all know I attended Fashion Week Live last night. It was a blast! While the runway show was the main thrill, the pre-party and goodie bag were added bonuses. I am waiting for more pictures from the event but wanted to share some highlights with you. Also, a big thank you to Sephora for my golden ticket!

Some highlights were:

Two of the gorgeous peeps in this picture! Naomi was graceful, yet powerful, on the catwalk and Tyson, well, just look at him. These two were the crowd favorites too, with welcoming claps from the audience.
The show lasted about an hour, and was divided by themes. My favorite theme was evening! The most stunning gowns were by Zac Posen and Donna Karan.
My favorite daytime looks were by local designer Peter Som; my lip reading skills picked up Vanessa Getty whispering "I like that" to a friend about a gray ruffle asymmetrical dress by him. Also, notable, were the Marc Jacobs pieces that were surprisingly more sultry in the flesh!

Somewhere exciting!

I am happy to share I will be attending Fashion Week Live in San Francisco. This is way cool because I get to see a runway show of selections from the New York Fall 2007 ready-to-wear collections by Oscar de la Renta, Zac Posen, Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, Badgley Mischka, Nanette Lepore and Michael Kors. Oh, and did I mention Naomi Campbell will be working it on the catwalk? Wahoo! Stay tuned to hear how it was tomorrow...

Celebrity Style: Blake Lively

The Michael Kors Spring '09 runway presentation brought out a slew of celebrity fans, one of them being Gossip Girl Blake Lively. I love how this girl can look as relaxed in dresses as she can in jeans. For the occasion, Blake chose Michael Kors's lattice A-line dress and his double ankle strap sandals. She doesn't usually like to pile on the accessories so she kept it simple with a cocktail ring and a black snakeskin clutch. I'm sure she made Michael proud.

Burberry Prorsum, Live From London Fashion Week

As New York Fashion Week draws to a close for us at FabSugar US, our friends from across the pond at FabSugar UK are gearing up for London Fashion Week, which starts today and goes until Sept. 22. Sure to be one of the highlights of LFW is the Burberry Prorsum show, which will be held in London instead of Milan, where it is typically held. The British brand is doing this to celebrate 25 years of London Fashion Week. Luckily, since we won't be in attendance, the show will be streamed live online for the rest of the world to see.

All you have to do is go to live.burberry.com at 6:30 p.m. BST on Sept. 22 to get front-row access. Plaid not your thing? Then make sure to check out Alexander McQueen's show as he does the same thing during Paris Fashion Week.

Roland Mouret Takes You Front Row

It's official: live streaming runway shows are the hottest thing to do this season. Hot off the heels of Burberry Prorsum, Alexander McQueen - debuting today - and Twenty8Twelve's video foray is Roland Mouret. In conjunction with Fashionair.com, the designer will be streaming his Spring '10 runway show in Paris tomorrow, Oct. 7. "This is about taking the show and using it for what it should be - an amazing and immediate way for the consumer to see the collection," said Mouret.

In addition to viewing his show from a virtual front row seat, strategically placed cameras will allow us to experience the backstage action along with intimate interviews with Roland himself. While we eagerly await the action tomorrow, check out the site now to see what Roland had to say about his past Spring collection and why he dedicated it to his late father. Aw.

I have to admit there's a lot of fashion's favorite color - black - in this week's favorites. But, to keep things lively, there's also a daring red Versace gown and a gorgeous teal draped Vionnet dress. It's a pretty well-rounded bunch, actually. But the crown goes to Anne Hathaway, who we haven't seen in a while, in her party-ready Marc Jacobs Resort dress. And check those big, bold earrings. Too cute. Fab Exclusive! Whitney and Olivia on Whitney's Fashion Week Debut

We've been longtime supporters of Whitney Port's Whitney Eve clothing line. It may have started off on an unsure note, but it's always a good sign when you are able to show at the tents at New York Fashion Week.

Whitney's collection fused girlie and romantic and, to my relief, wasn't too '80s. There were definitely a couple flirty dresses and jackets I would rock, but Whitney needs to move past the pastels. While Olivia Palermo told me she thought the collection was "youthful" after the show, last night, at Divas Live, Whitney explained: "My inspiration was Alice in Wonderland goes to a cocktail party. I wanted something really fun, wearable, but that you could easily go from day to night in. Something you wear to the office and then can dress up with heels to go out. Bright colors."Looks like it's onward and upward for Whitney Eve.

Alexander McQueen's Virtual Runway Show

Alexander McQueen is taking the virtual world by storm. In addition to tweeting funny messages like "I'm at the dentist . . . about to go under the knife!," the designer has announced, via Twitter, that he will be streaming his Spring collection Oct. 6 runway show at Paris Fashion Week live at AlexanderMcQueen.com and AlexanderMcqueenLive.showstudio.com - no tickets necessary. McQueen is collaborating with Nick Knight’s SHOWStudio.com. Knight divulged robot cameras will be at work on and off the catwalk, and in the audience, while, at the back of the runway, an LED screen will beam out the roving cameras’ images. So cool.

Why? Why ask why? McQueen explains, “Every year, buyers and the press come to see the spectacle of my show. But I want to generate something else, something for a wider audience - for people in Australia, Asia, and Middle America who don’t have a seat at the show. Really, what I’m aiming for is world domination!” McQueen devotees: set your calendar!

2010 Spring New York Fashion Week: Vena Cava

Vena Cava always does things a little differently. Both in show presentation and clothing inspiration; that's why they are a growing fashion force. Vena Cava was at Milk Studios - where numerous designers are showing this time around - and I arrived promptly on time because I heard rumblings the designers were doing a runway show in lieu of their usual presentation style. They did both. It started as a runway show, models perched themselves around and on ladders, then it turned into a presentation - the best of both worlds. The Fiery Furnaces performing live were an awesome accompaniment to the modern, exotic collection. From marbelized prints, to laser cuts, to hints of skin, Vena Cava loves to play. But in a very sophisticated manner. A dress may be baby doll, but it's far from goo-goo-gaa-gaa in a sexy black-rayon jersey and metal safety-pin camisole. The palette was moody - black, brown, grays - but a punchy orange saved it from somber. The orange cupra jersey asymmetrical dress made my heart skip. Lisa and Sophie, the hotshot design duo, continue to experiment with separates. Dresses are always unique, but skirts, jumpsuits, shorts, busters, leggings, and tees were thrown into the mix. Accessories weren't forgotten; stylist Kate Young completed looks with Persol shades, Robert Clergerie shoes, and Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co. jewels. Vena Cava - where there's smoke, there's fire.
