Without Betsey Johnson, I would have gone to many high school dances naked. She was, still is, my go-to designer for funky party dresses, and for that I am thankful. What would you like to thank Betsey for? A vintagey frock? A rocked out handbag? A ruffled cardigan? Girlie jewelry? Betsey is celebrating 30 years in the fashion business this year. Her company remains privately owned, and she currently has more than 70 stores worldwide, 800 wholesale accounts, and 10 licensees. But most impressive of all, Betsey has remained true to her ultrafemme, ultrafun aesthetic. Happy 45th, Valentino!

This past weekend, while showing his Fall couture show, Valentino celebrated his 45th anniversary in the fashion biz - quite the accomplishment...bravo!

It all started in 1961, when Valentino Garavani dedicated five evening gowns to Jackie Kennedy, and she become a loyal client - she wore Valentino when she mourned President Kennedy, and she wore Valentino when she married Aristotle Onassis.

But in his 45 years of fashion, Jackie O hasn't been the only woman wearing Valentino for an important event in her life: Julia Roberts, Sophia Loren, Jane Fonda, and Hilary Swank have all accepted Oscars in Valentino dresses. Elizabeth Taylor was wearing Valentino when she met Richard Burton. Valentino outfitted Princess Diana to help her transform from shy girl to princess material.

The man has been around - at 75, his contemporaries Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, even Coco Chanel - have long passed on their legacies to other designers. But Valentino's not ready to stop yet - he continues to quash rumors of his retirement - as he told The Telegraph: "I am already working on my next collections." Let's hope there are many more collections yet for Valentino!

Happy 60th, Dior!

This week, the House of Dior celebrated their 60th year of haute couture - sixty years since Christian Dior showed his first couture collection of sharp-shouldered suits with knee-length skirts on February 12, 1947.

In that sixty year period of time, Dior has much to be proud of. Christian Dior became famous for popularizing the "New Look" in the post-World War II era, which consisted of long flared A-line skirts and tiny corseted waists - a much more curvaceous form than the boxy suits of the early forties. After his death in 1957, an ambitious 21-year-old took over - Yves Saint Laurent, launched his career at the house of Dior - you can probably judge his success by his name recognition.

Carrying the house into the future is John Galliano, who celebrates his tenth anniversary at Dior this year - with all the pomp and circumstance he can muster - as seen at the couture show he put on this week. You have to hand it to the House of Dior - anything that can stay in fashion for 60 years deserves some respect - because we all know how fast things can go out of fashion!

Here is a fashion tribute to the tidey whitey. While lingerie brands such as Agent Provocateur have the racy lingerie genre covered, whatever happened to the simplicity of a sweet, white cover up? We've seen them throughout history - from Janet Leigh in 'Bye Bye Birdie' to Sigourney Weaver's eerie exposé scene in 'Alien' to Calvin Klein's infamous underwear ads. No doubt the tighty whitey is a classic, maybe it's just taking a hiatus.

" "Think Different" Apple ad - to introduce the video of Hollywood heavyweights, politicians, and even an astronaut, speaking in five-word tributes to the man who changed the world through technology.

Although we're all mad about The Hunger Games, we're not all exactly eager to live in the dystopia. It seems like a miserable place in the districts, where starvation is not an uncommon thing. However, if Panem, the setting of the trilogy, was a happier place, I'm sure it would be a hot tourist spot. Here are a couple of travel destinations that resemble a healthier and happier Panem.

District 12 Forest (Black Forest, Germany)

If you ever wanted to join Gale and Katniss on their hunting expeditions, perhaps the Black Forest in Germany shares a lot of resemblance with the forest in District 12. Gale and Katniss had to resort to hunting in the wild forest because there was not enough food to go around back home. They even talked about and considered running away from their lives into the forest.

“We could do it, you know. Leave the district. Run off. Live in the woods. You and I, we could make it," Gale tells Katniss.

Stefano Pilati Out at Yves Saint Laurent

Change is the air: after last week's news of Raf Simons's departure at Jil Sander, it has just been announced that Stefano Pilati will be showing his last Yves Saint Laurent collection at Paris Fashion Week on March 5. "I exit the house with fierce conviction in all that we have achieved and deep gratitude to those who have supported me along the way," said Pilati. "I wish the maison Yves Saint Laurent and its new creative director the very best for the future." Pilati, who has been at Yves Saint Laurent since 2004, has been criticized over the years for his inconsistent collections. While some received rave reviews - Pilati's "Tribute" sandals along with his "Muse" and "Downtown" bags were great successes - critics described some of his collections as "lacking color and modernity." Meanwhile, Hedi Slimane, former designer at Dior Homme, is rumored to return to fashion and replace Pilati at YSL. Pilati's next move is still to be determined, but for now, check out his second to last Spring collection for Yves Saint Laurent in the slideshow.
