We're so accustomed to seeing Rachel Bilson in laid back clothing that when I saw her on the Whitney Art Auction red carpet in her tighter-than-tight Herve Leger number, my jaw dropped. It was as if I was seeing an Herve Leger dress for the first time. When I was finally able to peel my eyes off the dress, I focused on her beautiful Romanek "The Celeste” feathered clutch. The one she's carrying is lambskin but the crocodile version (same feathered style) is available for $1,580. Call Tender boutique at 248-258-0212 to order. Which Marchesa Was Most Fab at the Music Unites Fall Masquerade Gala?

Last week at the Music Unites Fall Masquerade Gala, Kerry Washington and Georgina Chapman wore pretty, poufy frocks from Georgina's coveted Marchesa line. Both dresses were white, but notice how the two styles varied in texture. Kerry's tulle embellishment and streamlined shape gave a more architectural appeal, while Georgina's feathered creation emoted flirty, flapper energy. Both beauties accessorized with sleek black clutches and matching pumps. This one's a toughie: do you prefer the designer or the celebrity?

Teen Choice Awards: Ashley Greene

Ashley Greene made her Teen Choice Awards debut in a pretty floral frock and fuchsia sandals. The contrast between the Dolce & Gabbana feathered bustier top and girlie print is a little badass, a lot beautiful. For accessories, the actress chose simple stud earrings, a beaded bracelet, and metallic purple clutch. Do you love it or hate it?

Who Wore It Better? Matthew Williamson For H&M Peacock Print Dress

There were mixed results, but the majority of you loved Katy Perry in this Matthew Williamson for H&M dress. Does the dress suit heiress Nicky Hilton, too? She wore it hosting a party at Prive Las Vegas. She opted for an oversized clutch, keeping with the feather theme, while Katy wore a cheeky pink metallic lip clutch. As well, Nicky went bare legs and matchy shoes, while Katy wore tights and metallic shoes. Who wore this peacock frock best?

Kerry Washington looked spectacular yesterday at Essence magazine's luncheon in Beverly Hills. Always one to try new things, Kerry wore a smashing feathered skirt and blazer by Louis Vuitton. Feathery skirts can add a little volume so it was smart to cinch in her waistline with an eye-popping metallic obi belt. Patent leopard pumps, a black clutch, gold macho watch, and sophisticated gold hoops complete her tigress appeal; now that's style!

The Look For Less: Carrie Bradshaw

Here is a thoroughly modern Carrie look that didn't make it into the movie. Oh sh*t. Did I just spoil something? Nah. This outfit may look familiar though as it did appear in promotional items. Too bad it wasn't on the big screen because it's a keeper. It's also an expensive ensemble; the dress is Vivienne Westwood (that tailoring=to die for), the shoes are Manolo Blahnik, the feather clutch is Salvatore Ferragamo and the studded belt is vintage. Spring 2008 Couture: Armani Privé

Yet again, Mr. Giorgio Armani presented a drama-filled collection that his best costumer, Cate Blanchett, can easily fall in love with.

Armani Privé came in the form of oversized ruffles, poufy bubble hems, large stand-up collars, fuzzy feathers, overly tiered skirts, and lots of embellishments. And though the designer isn't usually one to overdo accessories, this collection was an exception. Chunky bangles, big clutches, beaded necklaces, and jeweled belts added to the theatrics of the show. I'm looking forward to seeing the Armani Privé runway translated onto the red carpet.

New Bebe Brand: Neda

The trendy Bebe chain is testing a new boutique concept called Neda, which is named for Bebe vice chairman Neda Mashouf. The higher-end shop, which focuses exclusively on accessories, recently opened its first location in San Francisco-the same city where Bebe itself launched back in 1976. If it's a hit, the company could expand the Neda concept to other cities.

I visited the new store the other day, and I was definitely impressed. The sleek pink-and-black decor had a very luxury feel, as did the edgy shoes and handbags on display. Though Neda doesn't have its own web site, you can buy many of the products on Bebe's web site. Here are some of my pics.

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2008: Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent

You may or may not know that many of the shows I saw at New York Fashion Week were not at the famed Bryant Park tents. A lot of designers showed off site, for a number of reasons; budget restrictions, an anti-sponsor preference or simply to present a no frills collection of clothes. We feature Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent often, so I was jazzed to see her Spring offerings...especially since the showroom setting was casual, filled with light and easy going.

With the feather weight clothes hanging on mannequins, Vincent also provided a viewing of her coveted shoes and accessories and an immense inspiration wall. The inspiration wall was really cool; images from Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides, a young Patrick Dempsey, youthful beachy photo shoots via NYLON, all made sense of the clothes. And the clothes were in punchy colors of 70s suburbia with feminine details like jeweled necklines, crochet and ruffles. Sporty aspects like racer backs, hoods and tanks toughened things up. All in super soft fabrics like chiffon, silk, voile and jersey, I bet if models were wearing these pieces they would seriously flow. I guess we'll just have to wait for some of these to appear in Celebrity Styles to really know!

As for the accessories, buttery leather clutches were adorned with fun star-shaped beads. Colorful leather was preferred as was patent leather, on shoes that were colorblocked, banded and woven. Looks like Cynthia had fun with this collection!

Fall 2007 Couture: Giorgio Armani Prive

Clad in Giorgio Armani Prive, an attention-loving fashionista can go from the office straight to the red carpet in an instant. By work-appropriate attire, I mean an office that demands high-fashion, high-drama and glamour to the max (think The Devil Wears Prada). That's exactly what Armani delivered this time.

Suits with tulip skirts and low necklines oozed sexy sophistication that only a confident woman can pull off. And to break up the all-black look, Armani infused a pop of color - fuchsia, bright blue, purple - to each suit.

Colorful feathers and flowers served as voluminous shawls, while tilted hats with glitter screamed "Isabella Blow!" Interesting necklines prevailed, including lower-than-low sweethearts. Some red-carpet-worthy gowns were fitted, while most were overly poofy. And of course, bouts of fuchsia and hot pink popped up on the runway in the forms of clutches, jackets and frocks.

It wouldn't be Armani if a couple menswear-inspired pieces didn't shine through. Skinny ties and black fitted suits looked like they were taken directly from David Bowie's closet.

I have to say I'm impressed that Armani pumped up the volume, the drama and the sex appeal. I guess his fans have a siren side, too!
