On Our Radar: Upcoming French Flick Targets Fashionistas

French director Laetitia Colombani's next flick could have us pining for fashion in the way that Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette left us drooling for macaroons.

Mes Stars et moi or My Stars and Myself, starring Emmanuelle Béart (left), Catherine Deneuve and Mélanie Bernier, is about actresses who go from fashion shoots to premieres wearing the trendiest designer brands. Supposedly, Béart sports Dior couture; Deneuve goes all out in Yves Saint Laurent, Hermès, Prada, and Fendi; and Bernier dons Lanvin. These lucky ladies can be seen on French screens in October.

In this Halloween-inspired edition of French Revue de Modes, Ali Stephens shows off her fashionable crime-fighting abilities in a black and white editorial shot by Thierry Le Goues. With a hunky Batman by her side, Ali tackled the streets in an array of leopard print bodysuits, checkered frocks, avant-garde coats, and ornate LBDs. Of course, every sexy superhero needs thigh-high leather boots, statement belts, and slick leather gloves to complete the look. Oh, did you notice how Ali's big wavy hair and thick eyeliner is reminiscent of Lynda Carter in Wonder Woman? So rad. If only I could look this good on Halloween . . . Source

Power Couple: Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet

Marion Cotillard can stand on her own, but I quite like it when she's standing next to French boyfriend Guillaume Canet! We rarely see them photographed together, but the stylish duo were recently in spotted in beach gear in St. Tropez. Perfection. A little background on Guillaume - he gravitates toward sophisticated beauties, because, after all, he was married to Diane Kruger from 2001 to 2006. And now he's with the queen of chic, Marion, whom he befriended on the set of their 2003 film Jeux d'Enfants. She always looks flawless, while he is her cool, semi-disheveled other half. Even when he wears tuxedos and bow ties, he's never stuffy, never stiff. That's the French way. It's official: one Frenchie is hot, but two are on fire.

Sneak Peek! Coco Before Chanel

You saw the movie trailer, now it's time to get up close and personal with scenes from the upcoming Coco Before Chanel. Fun fact: Keira Knightley was originally offered the role of Madame Chanel, but French actress Audrey Tatou ended up the star. But if you ask Karl, he prefered Penelope Cruz. No matter, because judging from the movie stills, Tatou is exceptional at portraying fashion's most celebrated designer. The way she wears that bowler hat, the pearls, that signature Chanel tweed is magical. I can't wait to see her come to life on-screen. FABTV: Coco Avant Chanel Movie Trailer

After much anticipation, the first Coco Avant Chanel movie trailer starring our fabulous Fabcon, Audrey Tautou, has finally released. The preview is in French, but that doesn't mean we can't come to our own conclusions about the plot. We do know it focuses on her earlier life, growing up and the budding stages of the house of Chanel. Judging from the steamy love scenes, crazy fights, and decadent clothes, I gather this to be an amazing period romance filled with action, love, and betrayal. But that's just my opinion. The film premieres in France April 22 and a US release date is still to be decided. Enjoy!

We're in for a fun week with the release of the highly anticipated vampire movie Twilight. Have you read the book yet?! I have, so I'm ready. Like we've been preaching for a while now - the French are coming! It's not just us who are intrigued by the je ne sais quoi of the French lassies taking over film and fashion. There's ingenue Clémence Poésy, Oscar-nominee Marion Cotillard, Chanel spokeswoman Audrey Tautou, and now the new face of Miu Miu, and second half of a power couple with Johnny Depp, Vanessa Paradis. This former model and musician definitely knows how to work it for the camera as she's a seasoned muse. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott will be behind the lens yet again. And like that, Kirsten Dunst is no longer a Miu Miu muse . . .

In more Miu Miu news, the little sister of Prada will open a second store in Los Angeles on Rodeo. Double the news, double the fun.

Fabcon: Audrey Tautou

French films have a distinct quirkiness that I crave from time to time. I recently watched, for the hundredth time, Amélie starring cute-as-a-button, French actress, Audrey Tautou. She is a hot ticket slated to play Coco Chanel in an upcoming flick and rumored to be the next face of Chanel No. 5 perfume. Her short banged bob and vintage wardrobe made me want to visit my hairstylist sooner than scheduled, and wear my hemline a little longer.

If Clémence Poésy is France's eccentric child, and Marion Cotillard is the sophisticated sister, then Audrey is the wise, ripe daughter that is utterly comfortable in her skin.

One look at Audrey's clothes and pixie haircut and it's obvious that the girl cares about fashion. When on the red carpet, she's quirky but always polished. Her choice of dresses makes it known that she's not OK with being a fashion sheep. Her off-carpet style usually consists of relaxed jeans, paired with a cool jacket and easy flats. With her petite frame and at-ease style, I get the sense that for Miss Tatou, shopping is an in-and-out experience. I'd love to accompany her one day!

Fab Flash: Stephen Jones Tips His Hat to Audrey Tautou

Stephen Jones has taken a role in the highly anticipated film, Coco Before Chanel featuring Audrey Tautou. The sought-after milliner, who has designed head pieces for some of the top fashion houses including Mugler, Gaultier, and Christian Dior, will be creating hats for our little French Fabcon in the upcoming biopic.

"She will make a wonderful Chanel, she is equally as petite. We have had to adjust everything. We put a little flower on her head and it looked like a cushion," said Jones. We can't wait to see his millinery madness!
